William Arthur "Junior" Moore, Jr.
William Arthur "Junior" Moore, Jr., age 57, of Umpire, died Monday, February 2, 2004.
He was born on November 7, 1946, at De Queen, the son of William A. Moore, Sr. and Arizona Young Moore. On November 27, 1965, he was married
to Karen Krantz. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Johnny Wayne Moore; and his mother-in-law, Lorene Krantz.
He attended the Liberty Hill Church of Christ and served with the Umpire Volunteer Fire Department. A retired Weyerhaeuser employee and farmer, he was a member of the West Saline River Hunting Club.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Krantz Moore of Umpire; one son and daughter-in-law, Joey Lee and Veronica Moore of Umpire; two granddaughters, Kinzy and Lexi Moore of Umpire; one brother, Desmond Moore of New Hope; one sister, Nora Faye Gadbury of Newhope; one sister-in-law, Ellen Krantz of Hot Springs; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Services were held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 5, 2004, in the Liberty Hill Church of Christ with Gene Jester, Randy Hughes, Buster Bonner, Brent Alexander and Billy Tom Young officiating.
Interment was in the Burg cemetery, under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.
Pallbearers were Tim Young, Shawn Tomblin, Kenny Tabler, Mike Gadbury, Tony Moore, David Krantz, Dayton Kitchens and Jeff Tipton.
Opal Estelle Holden
Mrs. Opal Estelle Irene Bell Holden, age 91, resident of Dierks, died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004 in De Queen Regional Medical Center.
She was born July 24, 1912 in New Hope to James Matthew and Mary Elizabeth Carson Bell; was a homemaker; a retired school teacher; a member of First Baptist Church of Dierks; retired teachers organization; and a past matron of the Eastern Star. She was predeceased by her husband, A.D. “Dean” Holden in 1987.
She is survived by a daughter, Jawonda Alberty of Des Moines, Iowa; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7 in First Baptist Church of Dierks with Rev. Mike Watkins officiating. Burial followed in Pleasant Grove cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home, Dierks.
Ronald Finley Mize
Ronald Finley Mize, age 60, resident of Kemp, Tex., died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004 in the Dallas V.A. Medical Center.
He was born June 11, 1943 in Ben Lomond to Luther and Roselle Finley Mize; was a veteran; and self-employed.
He is survived by three children, Rosalyn, Ronda and Luke; one step-daughter, Crystal; a brother, David Mize of Arlington, Tex.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4 in Ben Lomond cemetery with Mike Mize officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home of De Queen.
L.D. Wesson
L.D. Wesson, age 88, resident of De Queen, died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004 in a Texarkana hospital.
He was born Sept. 2, 1915 at Center Point to Hicks and Jannie Benson Wesson; did yard maintenance; was a former employee of Baldwin; and a Baptist.
He is survived by his wife, Alta Wesson; five sons, Melvin Wesson of Los Angeles, Calif., Charlie Wesson of De Queen, James Wesson of Chandler, Ariz., Louis Wesson of Tucson, Ariz., and Phillip Wesson of Centereach, NY.; two daughters, Leola Stephens of Los Angeles, Calif., and Joyce Gossett of Carson, Calif.; a brother, Melvin Wesson of Los Angeles, Calif.; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10 in Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. E.A. Edwards officiating. Burial followed in Sand Hill cemetery.
The family received friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9 at the funeral home.
ROLAND JOHN EHORN
Roland John Ehorn died Sunday, February 8, 2004, in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He was born January 25, 1921, in Elgin, Illinois, to Arthur J. and Florence Schroeder Ehorn.
Roland was a 1939 graduate of Elgin High School and Ellis Business College. He served in the United States Navy as a member of V.S. Scouting Squadron in the South Pacific during World War II and on the U.S.S. Wolverine Aircraft Carrier on Lake Michigan after his overseas duty. He was in the excavation business and also a farmer. He was a Director of the Kane County Illinois Farm Bureau and a member of the Vestry of Christ Episcopal Church in Mena, Arkansas.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Gladys Schmidt Ehorn of Hot Springs, Arkansas, five children: Paul Ehorn of Elgin, Illinois, Cliff Ehorn of Willow Hill, Illinois, Jan Lowery of De Queen, Arkansas, Clark Ehorn of Powder Springs, Georgia, and Doug Ehorn of Benton, Arkansas; ten grandchildren: Stacey Snow, Shane Ehorn, Clayton Ehorn, Piper Groppel, Anna Lowery, Forrest Lowery, Sarah Ehorn, Jodie Ehorn, Logan Ehorn, and Sydnee Grace Ehorn; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Kenneth Ehorn of Elgin, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Merle Ehorn, and a granddaughter, Michaela Elizabeth Ehorn.
He will be remembered for his wonderful smile and his honesty with all friends and associates.
Services were held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 11, 2004, at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home in Hot Springs with cremation following.

Edith Eloner Wilson
Mrs. Edith Eloner Madewell Wilson, age 89, resident of Horatio, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004 in De Queen Regional Medical Center.
She was born Sept. 26, 1914 at Salisaw, Okla., to James and Drucella Rosen Madewell; and was a homemaker. She was predeceased by her parents; two brothers, John Madewell and Cecil Madewell; five sisters, Bea Allen, Maggie Turner, Bert Hilton, Arvella Martin and Mildred Smith.
She is survived by three daughters, Marie Elliott of De Queen, Bernice Short and Mary Myers, both of Horatio; a brother, L.D. Madewell of Eloy, Ariz.; two sisters, Ora Lee Beck of Gillham and Ethel Hilton of Emory, Tex.; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, step- great-great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9 in Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Otto Hilton and Bro. Mickey Beck officiating. Burial followed in Clear Creek cemetery.
William Harlan McAlister
William Harlan McAlister, age 83, resident of Dierks, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2004 in Wadley Regional Medical Center at Texarkana.
He was born Nov. 16, 1920 in Dierks to Robert Arch and Dewey James McAlister; was a retired employee of Weyerhaeuser; a veteran of World War II; and a member of First United Methodist Church of Dierks. He was predeceased by his parents; and one brother, Herman McAlister.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred McAlister; two sons, Ken McAlister of Midland, Tex., and Mike McAlister of Lubbock, Tex.; a daughter, Penny Watson of San Antonio, Tex.; a brother, Russell McAlister of Nashville; a sister, Earnestine Moore of Dierks; three step-children, Diane Hunt of Lima, Ohio, Ronnie Fett of Texarkana and Gary McComb of Denver, Colo.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8 in First United Methodist Church of Dierks with Rev. Garry Wiles and Lowell Lites, ministers, officiating. Burial followed in Dierks cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

Jesse Lee Faughtenbery
Jesse Lee Faughtenbery, age 77, resident of De Queen, died Monday, Feb. 9, 2004 in De Queen Regional Medical Center.
He was born July 1, 1926 to Hezz Carr and Carrie Stroud Faughtenbery; and was retired from the Merchant Marines. He was predeceased by a brother, Don Faughtenbery; and two sisters, Francis Brown and Sybil Faughtenbery.
He is survived by a sister, May Kendall of Overton, Tex.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11 in Chapel Hill cemetery with Rev. J.L. Walker officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
