Jeanelle Marie Jenkins

Mrs. Jeanelle Marie Jenkins, age 52, resident of De Queen and formerly of Albuquerque, NM, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005 in Wadley Regional Medical Center at Texarkana.

She was born March 5, 1952 at Albuquerque, NM to Richard Grosbeck and Jeannie Marie Roberson Carlisle; was a licensed practical nurse; and a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints of De Queen. She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband, Eric Jenkins of De Queen; three sons, Jason Lloyd Jenkins, Bryan Richard Jenkins and Adam Michael Jenkins, all of De Queen; two daughters, Amy Jeanne Jenkins and Emily June Jenkins, both of De Queen; two brothers, Michael Carlisle of Albuquerque, NM, and Richard Harry Carlisle of North Carolina; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with burial in Fairview cemetery at Albuquerque, NM under the direction of Strong/Thorne Funeral Home. Local arrangements by Chandler Funeral Home.

Mary Frances Dinger

Mrs. Mary Frances Dinger, age 80, resident of De Queen, died Monday, Jan, 17, 2005 in Brookewood Nursing Center.

She was born Oct. 24, 1924 in Cloverdale, Ky., to Patrick and Christine Miller; was a homemaker; and a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Ray Dinger on March 20, 1991; two sons, James Dinger and Lawrence Dinger; and one grandson, Brian Dinger.

She is survived by one son, Tony Dinger of De Queen; four daughters, Teri Hart of De Queen, Betty Stout and Nessie Gore, both of Gillham, and Lynda Phillips of Gilmer, Tex.; two brothers, Jack Miller of Kingman, Ariz., and Lonnie Miller of Granite Bay, Calif.; two sisters, Katherine Jones of Waldron and Patsy Dunn of Roseville, Calif.; 17 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19 in Sweet Home cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

Robert Sidney (Sid) McNully

Following years of valiant struggle with heart disease, Robert S. McNully passed from this life to Glory on May 26, 2004. Sid, 79, farmed land just outside of Horatio, Arkansas, once known as Packard Spur, and was born to Sammy Roy and Lucy Victoria McNully on March 8, 1925.

Although never graduating from high school himself, Sid took great pride in his family and farm, his military service during World War II, and his tenure of public service on the Horatio School Board, including service as Board President.

Sid attended Horatio Assembly of God Church and was laid to rest in the Horatio cemetery following a service at Wilkerson Funeral Home on May 31 at 10:00 a.m.

In addition to his wife of 48 years, Shirley Ann Loyd, Sid is survived by three children, Sammy (Sam), Regina (Gina), and Richard (Rick); six grandchildren, Angela Goins, Amber Deville, Peyton, Aaron, Meaghan, and Rachel; four great-grandchildren Elizabeth, Anfernee, Brandon, and Brianna, and brothers and sisters; Bud, Lester, James, Lemuel, David, Lillie Martin and Lyda Carnation.

Sid was preceded in death by his parents as well as brothers and sisters, Carlos, Claude, Bera Cook, Viola Alexander and Lahoma.

Family visitation was from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Sunday, May 30, 2004.

Shirley Bryan

Shirley Louise Bryan, age 69, a resident of De Queen, died Tuesday, January 18, 2005 in the De Queen Medical Center.

She was born December 16, 1935 in Gillham, Ark. to Hubert and Inez Byers. She was employed by Pilgrim's Pride, was a member of the VFW ladies auxiliary and was a Baptist.

Mrs. Bryan was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Bryan; one brother, Robert M. Byers, and her parents.

She is survived by one sister, Dorothy Webb of Eagletown; three daughters, Shawn Bryan of De Queen, Caramia Humpherys and Cheryl Ann Glenn, both of Breckenridge, Texas; two sons, James Griswold of Hawley, Texas and Ben Griswold of Oklahoma City, Okla.; three stepsons, Bobby Bryan of Gillham, Gary "Buckwheat" Bryan of Broken Bow, Okla., and Ricky Bryan of Austin, Texas and a number of grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Bryan will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 21, 2005 in the Chapel Hill cemetery with Rev. Dale Hankins officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

The family will be at 1626 Hwy. 70 W. in De Queen.

Frank Stuart McKeller

Frank Stuart McKeller, age 79, resident of Lockesburg, died Monday, Jan. 17, 2005 at his home.

He was born March 12, 1925 at Paraclifta to Robert Lee and Lillian L. Deal McKeller; was a member of Falls Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder; a U.S. Army veteran of World War II; retired from the Arkansas Highway Police; and a farmer.

He is survived by his wife, Millie Crow McKellar of Lockesburg; one son, Robert Frank McKellar of Lockesburg; one daughter, Rev. Millie Ann Holley of Lockesburg; one sister, Lois Gore of Lockesburg; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 20 in Falls Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jerry McKellar officiating. Burial with military honors followed in Falls Chapel cemetery under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19 at the funeral home.

Altha Lee Carlton

Mrs. Altha Lee Houser Carlton, age 71, resident of Mineral Springs, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2003 in Texarkana, Tex.

She was born April 15, 1933 in Lockesburg to Ellis and Elsie Baber Houser; was a seamstress; a waitress; and a member of First United Methodist Church in Mineral Springs. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one grandson, Richard Grant Compton.

She is survived by her husband, Arthur Carlton; one son, Reggie Hughes of Lockesburg; one stepson, Gary Carlton of Vienna, Ill.; one daughter, Loretta Ann Trussell of Montevallo, Ala.; two stepdaughters, Sherry Ebarb of Ben Wheeler, Tex., and Brenda Skannel of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; one bother, Glen Houser of Texarkana; two sisters, Leoda Barrett of Ashdown and Billie Wolfe of Houston, Tex.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18 in Wrights Chapel cemetery with Rev. Terry Mills officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

The family received friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 17 at the funeral home.

James Wallace Murphy

James Wallace Murphy, died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2005 in Dallas, Tex.

He was born in Jefferson, Mo., to the late Wallace H. and Mary Gerbes Murphy. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Josie Murphy, in 1998.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Murphy of Dallas, Tex.; children, Mary Crader of Jefferson, Mo., Terri Putnam of Palestine, Tex., GayLynn Johnston of Palestine, Tex., James Murphy Jr. of Tyler, Tex., David Murphy of Chandler, Tex., Jahia Murphy and Michelle Johnson, both of Columbia, Mo., Misty Brown of Dallas, Tex., Erika Bond of Antioch, Tenn.; stepchildren, Victoria Bumbalough, Deana Wallace, Tim Alexander and Andy Alexander, all of Tennessee; brothers, Wally Murphy of Florida and Paul Murphy; sisters, Doris Borgmeyer and Patricia Stockman, both of Jefferson, Mo., Kelly and Heather of Columbia, Mo.; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 16 in Woodfin Memorial Chapel, Smyrna, Tenn. Burial followed in Mapleview cemetery.

Estha L. McKinney

A Sevier County icon has passed. Estha Laverne McKinney of De Queen died of natural causes on March 8th in De Queen Medical Center. Born in Gillham, Arkansas, to Leroy and Annie French, Mrs. McKinney would have been 91 years old on April 12. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert E. L. "Bob" McKinney, an infant brother, Curtis, and a younger sister, Lola Phillips, all of De Queen, Arkansas.

With her husband, Bob McKinney, Estha was the owner/operator of Bob's Grocery and the Leopard's Inn, directly in front of De Queen High School. Working together, she and Bob served hot dogs, hamburgers and love to DHS students for over 25 years. Blessed with the gift of service, Estha was a charter member of the De Queen Hospital Auxiliary, a life-long Sunday school teacher in the Methodist church, and a high school class sponsor. She was also voted Outstanding Senior Girl in her DHS senior class, and winner of the PEO Service Cup. During WWII she served as an Inventory Specialist at Red River Army Depot where Bob served as a Depot Fireman.

Estha is survived by two sons, Jerry McKinney and wife, Rochelle, of Conroe, Texas, and Donald McKinney and wife, Martha, of De Queen. Her five grandchildren include Donald "Hoss" McKinney, Jr., of De Queen, Terri and Kathy McKinney of Dallas, Texas, Bob McKinney of Conroe, Texas, and Mike McKinney and wife, Judy, of Lakewood, Colorado. Estha's five great-grandchildren include Brian and Colby McKinney of De Queen, Grace McKinney of Dallas, Texas, and Lorin and Suzanna McKinney of Lakewood, Colorado. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, William T. "Bill" Phillips of De Queen, and a step-grandson, Gregory Sutton Crofts.

Estha loved fishing and rose gardening and was an avid reader. For almost a century, she and Bob swam at Johnson Bridge, fished De Queen Lake, and rode horses along the Rolling Fork. She passed away in peaceful certainty of being reunited with her Lord, and with her beloved husband.

A public viewing was held at 5:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Wilkerson Funeral Home. Funeral services were held Friday, March 11 at 10:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Bill Fish officiating. Burial followed at Redmen cemetery.
