Molein Zachry
Mrs. Allie Molein Gore Bogan Zachry, age 98, resident of Horatio, died Thursday, March 17, 2005 in De Queen Medical Center.
She was born Jan. 1, 1907 in the Dilworth Community of Sevier County to Hammie and Nannie Gray Gore; was a homemaker; and attended Dilworth Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, James L. Bogan in 1937 and Robert S. Zachry in 1969; her parents; her siblings, Earl, Earnest, Aldine, Eugene, Alvin, Mae, Maude, Mellos, Allene, Irene, and three infant brothers; her stepchildren, Herman Zachry, Walker Zachry, Louise Buckner, and Annie Rene Dorsey; and a step-grandchild, John Ray Buckner.
She is survived by one daughter, Jo McKellar of Sapulpa, Okla.; nine grandchildren; 13 step-grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 20 in Dilworth Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Bro. Ralph Staggs and Bro. Coy Arnold officiating. Burial followed in Millwee cemetery under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home.
Gladys Cleo Baird
Gladys Cleo Baird, age 72, resident of De Queen, died Thursday, March 17, 2005 in De Queen Medical Center.
She was born Sept. 15, 1932 in Shafton, Yorkshire, England to Charles and Amy Jagger Alderman; and was a retired Registered Nurse.
She is survived by one brother, Lewis Alderman of Leeds, England; and a niece.
Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
Ollie Irene Blanc
Mrs. Ollie Irene Nicks Blanc, age 93, resident of De Queen, passed away, Sunday, March 13, 2005, in the Sevier Health Care.
She was born to Wilbur L. and Ollie Elizabeth Nicks at Alton, Missouri on September 8, 1911. She retired from the Tamale Supply in Denver, Colorado, and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church and enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, and embroidering.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Frank Joseph Blanc on June 6, 1994.
She is survived by two sons, Charlie Blanc and Joe Blanc, both of Denver, Colorado; three daughters, Jackie Ferguson of Lynchburg, Virginia, Earlene Vidoz of San Diego, California, and Sharon Cox of De Queen; fourteen grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
Private graveside funeral services for Mrs. Ollie Irene Blanc were held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 16, 2005 in the Chapel Hill cemetery with Rev. Scott Ray officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.
There was no public viewing. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 212 Natural Resources Drive, Little Rock, AR 72205.
W.R. “Jack” Bassett
W.R. “Jack” Bassett, age 78, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2005 in Houston, Tex.
He was born Dec. 3, 1926 in Fort Madison, Iowa to the late Elzie and Mona Bassett; and worked at Thornhill-Craver Industries for 35 years until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Bassett; children, Barbara Ann Bassett, Jackie Lynn Brumfield, William R. Bassett II; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Friday, March 4 in San Jacinto Funeral Home. Burial with military honors followed in San Jacinto Memorial cemetery.
Mrs. Golda Gray
Mrs. Golda Stephens Gray, age 90, resident of Horatio, Arkansas, died Monday, March 14, 2005 in Brookewood Nursing Center, De Queen.
She was born to William Thomas and Sarah Ann Benight Stephens, at Vessy, Texas, on April 11, 1914. She was a member of the Dilworth Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Horatio and was a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, animals and sewing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy O. Gray in 1994.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Kerwin and Willene Gray of De Queen and Bill and Judy Gray of Nashville, Arkansas; two daughters. M. J. Cearley and Roy Blakely of Nashville, Arkansas, and Sue and son-in-law, James Stinnett, of Malvern, Arkansas; one sister, Vivian Gore of De Queen; one sister-in-law, Frankie Stephens of Deer Park, Texas; 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Golda Gray were held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 16, 2005 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Byron Sullivan and John Hickle officiating. Burial followed in the Millwee cemetery, Horatio.
The family received friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 15th.
Hillary Logan Campbell
Hillary Logan Campbell, age 64, resident of De Queen, died Thursday, March 17, 2005 in Christus St. Michael Health System at Texarkana.
He was born Sept. 23, 1940 at De Queen to Jewell Allen and Ruth Irene Logan Campbell; graduated from De Queen High School; served in the U.S. Navy; retired from De Queen Regional Medical Center; and was a member of Memorial Missionary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Don Campbell.
He is survived by his wife, Dianne Young Campbell of De Queen; one stepdaughter, Shelly Boyles of De Queen; three brothers, Charles Campbell, Jimmy Campbell of Lindell, Tex., and Bob Campbell of Gillham; two sisters, Christine Edwards of Eunice, La., and Kathleen Campbell of Tyler, Tex.; three grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 20 in Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joe Carlton officiating. Burial followed in Redmen cemetery.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 18 at the funeral home.
Vestal Reed
Vestal Lee Reed, age 83, a resident of Dierks, departed this life Wednesday, March 16, 2005 at his home in Dierks.
He was born March 22, 1921 in Nathan, Arkansas to Clarence and Mamie Greenhaw Reed. He was a member of the Holly Creek Missionary Baptist Church, a retired employee of Weyerhaeuser Company, and a Veteran of World War II.
Mr. Reed was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Delbert Reed.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Imogene Wynn Reed; two sons, Gary L. Reed and wife, Karen, of Wichita, Kansas, and Glenn D. Reed and wife, Mary, of Dierks; four grandchildren, David Reed and wife, Chasity, of Carlisle, Arkansas, Tammy Carter and husband, Mike, of Smithville, Oklahoma, Jill Pretzel and husband, Kay, of Wichita, Kansas, and Robin Reed of Dallas, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Meghan Reed, Alyssa and Kaylie Wynn Carter; two brothers, Jimmy L. Reed and wife, Louise, and Wayne L. Reed and wife, Lavon, all of Dierks; one sister, Effie Brock, and husband, Herman, of Dierks; one sister-in-law, Mildred Castell and husband, Harvey, of Marshall, Texas, and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 19, 2005 in the Holly Creek Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Larry Allbritton officiating. Burial followed in the Dierks cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.
The family received friends from 6-8 p.m., Friday, March 18, at the funeral home in Dierks.
Memorials may be made to the Holly Creek Missionary Baptist Church building fund.
Helen Fraser Jenkins
Helen Fraser Jenkins, age 90, died Friday, March 18, 2005 in De Queen Medical Center.
She was a member of Legett Memorial Methodist Church.
She is survived by a son, David Jenkins of De Queen; a daughter, Nelda Stanley of Fairfield, Calif.; and three grandsons.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 19 in Memorial Park cemetery at Camden under the direction of Proctor Funeral Home of Camden.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Methodist Children’s Home.
