Robert Paul Ward

Robert Paul Ward, age 67, resident of Gillham, died Saturday, March 19, 2005 at his home.

He was born to Charles Bryant and Ruth Mae Moore Ward at King on July 28, 1937; was retired from De Queen Sand and Gravel; and a member of First Baptist Church of Gillham.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Kenneth Ward in 1985; and a grandson, Tyrel Ward.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Dean Ledbetter Ward of Gillham; three sons, Terry Ward of Mena, Bill Ward and Bob Ward, both of De Queen; one stepson, Dennis Moore of Winston, Ore.; three stepdaughters, Pam Oribello of Coos Bay, Ore., Tina Blanchard of Roseburg, Ore., and Samantha Moore of Gillham; one brother, Charles Bryant Ward Jr. of Cambridge, Id.; three sisters, Emma Lee Mickle of Gillham, Charlene Parker of Roseburg, Ore., and Bonnie Mutschler of Winston, Ore.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 22 in Cossatot cemetery with Rev. Bob McManus officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. There will be no public viewing.

The family will receive friends at the home, 285 Valley Road, Gillham.

Lorean Pete Beard

Lorean Pete Beard, age 90, resident of Foreman, died Sunday, March 20, 2005 in Little River County Memorial Hospital at Ashdown.

He was born to J.W. and Effie Ann Nolen Beard in Saratoga on Sept. 20, 1914; was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II; retired from Little River County; and a Catholic.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Warner and Dick Beard; a sister, Ollie Mauldin; a grandson, David Baker; and his wife, Kathryn Teresa Beard in Feb. of 2005.

He is survived by one daughter, Kathy Baker of Foreman; one son, David Crossland of Redding, Calif.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one nephew and one niece.

Cremation was under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

A memorial services were held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 23 in Chandler Funeral Home Chapel.

Mrs. Audrey Reed

Mrs. Audrey Beatrice Johnson Reed, age 86, resident of De Queen, and former resident of Ashdown, Ark., died Wednesday, April 6, 2005 in the Brookewood Nursing Center, De Queen, Ark. She was born to Thomas and Ivy Shields Johnson at Alleene, Arkansas, on August 16, 1918.

She was retired from Shurway Grocery in Ashdown, as well as a homemaker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ashdown, and enjoyed fishing and reading.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Thomas William Johnson; Ovington "Red" Johnson, Everett Johnson, and Cecil Shelton, a grandson, Brian James, and on May 30, 1983, her husband, Johnny Vernon Reed.

She is survived by one son Johnny Reed of De Queen; one daughter, Reba Boggs of Sugarland, Texas; one half-brother, Raymond Shelton of Alleene, Ark.; two half-sisters, Dorothy Johnson of Baytown, Texas; and Martha Louellen Combs of Texarkana, Arkansas; three granddaughters, six great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Audrey Reed were held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 8, 2005 in the Alleene Community Center, Alleene, Ark. Burial followed in the Alleene cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family received friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 7, 2005.

Hershel Mount

Hershel Mount, age 92, resident of Gillham, died Wednesday, April 6, 2005 in De Queen.

He was born Dec. 13, 1912 in Blue Ridge, Tex., to Foster and Amanda Mount; and was retired from the U.S. Air Force.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Ocie Buchanan Mount and Dolores Barfield Mount.

He is survived by two sons, Jimmy Mount of Ft. Worth, Tex., and Lonnie Mount of Riverside, Calif.; one stepson, James Barfield of Gillham; two stepdaughters, Helen Powell of Gillham and Faye B. Reid of Nashville, Tenn.; one sister, Ella Jane Stroud of Modesto, Calif.; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 10 in First Baptist Church in Gillham with Rev. Bob McManus officiating. Burial followed in Old Center cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 9 at the funeral home.

Donald Wayne Brizendine

Donald Wayne “Duck” Brizendine, age 52, resident of De Queen, died Tuesday, April 5, 2005 at his home.

He was born Sept. 15, 1952 in De Queen to Henry Clay and Lorene Brizendine; and worked in the poultry industry.

He was preceded in death by his father; and a brother, Joe Brizendine.

He is survived by his mother, Linnie Lorene Vance Brizendine of De Queen; a son, DeWayne Brizendine of Oklahoma City, Okla.; his siblings, Maxine Schiffman, Billy Brizendine and Roger Brizendine, all of De Queen, Barbara Sierra of Gillham, Richard Brizendine of Odessa, Tex., Robert Brizendine and Randy Brizendine, both of Broken Bow, Okla., and George Brizendine of Glenwood; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 8 in Avon cemetery with Rev. J.L. Walker officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 7 at the funeral home.

Manuel Ray Perez

Manuel Ray Perez, age 68, resident of Idabel, Okla., died Sunday, April 3, 2005 at Idabel.

He was born Oct. 3, 1936 at Avon, Miss., to Manuel and Marela Sanchez Perez; was a retired farm worker; and affiliated with the St. Francis De Dales Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his stepmother, Josephine Ledesma.

He is survived by his son, Manuel Perez Jr. of Idabel, Okla.; his daughters, Patsy Ponce and Sarah Perez, both of De Queen; his brothers, Domingo Perez and Jimmy Ledesma, both of Idabel, Okla.; his sisters, Nellie Sandoval of Fresno, Calif., Maria Conchos of California, Mary Perez of Idabel, Okla., and Janie Oglesby of Haworth, Okla.; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were at 10 a.m. Friday, April 8 in Canfield cemetery with Rev. John Brown officiating, under the direction of Conley-White Funeral Home of Idabel.

A Rosary and scripture was at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 7 at St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church, Idabel.

Ronnie Joe Jaquess

Ronnie Joe Jaquess, age 46, resident of Horatio, died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2004 in Horatio.

He was born Feb. 19, 1958 in Gallup, NM, to G.W. and Elizabeth May Johnson Jaquess Sr.; was a carpenter; and a member of First Pentecostal Church of De Queen. He was preceded in death by his father.

He is survived by one son, Matthew Joe Jaquess of Denver, Colo.; his mother, Elizabeth Jaquess of Horatio; one brother, Junior Jaquess of Ben Lomond; four sisters, Mary Helen Downing and Linda Launius, both of Lockesburg, Barbara Rink of De Queen, and Shirley Byrum of Nashville.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 19 in Belleville Methodist Church with Rev. Wallace Wooten and Se Ward officiating. Burial followed in Belleville cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
