Janet L. Roberts
Janet L. Higgins Roberts, age 41, resident of Lockesburg, died Monday, Aug. 9, 2004 at her home.
She was born March 8, 1963 in De Queen to Freeman and Alice Henson Higgins; was a homemaker; and a Southern Baptist. She was preceded in death by one son, Jason.
She is survived by her husband, Norman D. Roberts of Lockesburg; two step-daughters, Mandy and Jennifer Roberts; and a brother, Jimmy Ray Hawley.
Private graveside services have been scheduled, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
Thearl “T” Gaddis
Thearl “T” Gaddis, age 84, resident of Dierks, died Friday, Jan. 28, 2005 in Howard Memorial Hospital at Nashville.
He was born Jan. 31, 1920 in Dierks to Charles and Jennie Walters Gaddis; and was an operator for Phillips Petroleum Company for 35 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, in 2004.
He is survived by two sons, Theryl Fayne Gaddis of Lubbock, Tex., and Teddy Gene Gaddis of Stinnett, Tex.; two brothers, C.V. Gaddis and Othel Gaddis, both of Dierks; three sisters, Opal Metz of Mena, Ina Call of Clovis, NM, and Elaine Cooper of Tulsa, Okla.; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005 in Green’s Chapel cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home, Dierks.
Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 31 at the Dierks Chapel.
Jim Batterton
Jim Batterton, age 65, resident of Crossett, and formerly of Portland, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004 at the Beverly Health Care Center in Crossett.
He was a native of Hoxie; a retired farmer; worked for the Portland Gin Company and Jim Young Farms; and was a member of Unity Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Beulah Christian Batterton; and a sister, Dorothy Jean Batterton.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby Young Batterton of Crossett; two daughters, Penny Breedlove of Hamburg and Phyllis Campbell of Crossett; two brothers, Bill Batterton of Foley, NM, and Robbie Batterton of Walnut Ridge; four sisters, Patricia Bradley of Russellville, Linda Jones of Walnut Ridge, Judy Manning of Hoxie, and Brenda Devore of Poplar Bluff, MO; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14 in Unity Baptist Church with Rev. Lawrence Amos and Rev. E.W. Ricks officiating. Burial followed in Portland cemetery, under the direction of Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home of Hamburg.

William Michael Bryan
William Michael “Mike” Bryan, age 58, resident of Horatio, died Friday, Dec. 10, 2004 in De Queen Regional Medical Center.
He was born July 30, 1946 in Texarkana to Harold Leon and Linder McCullough Bryan; was a driver/engineer for the Texarkana, Tex., fire department for 26 years; a volunteer at the Horatio and Cerro Gordo fire departments; and a member of the Presbyterian Church of the Redeemer in Texarkana, Tex.
He is survived by his wife, Glenda Beck Bryan; two sons, Charles of McGuire AFB, Trenton, NJ; John of Tendell AFB, Panama City, Fla.; two daughters, Amy and Angie of Horatio; his mother, Linder McCullough Bryan of Texarkana, Tex.; one sister, Patti Bryan Fisher of Texarkana, Tex.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 13 at Chapelwood cemetery in Texarkana, Tex., under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home, De Queen.

Ronald (R.J.) Pennon Jr.
Ronald (R.J.) Pennon Jr., age 15, resident of Eagletown, Okla., died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005.
He was April 20, 1989 in Idabel, Okla.; attended Eagletown High School where he played basketball; attended the Boys & Girls Club in Eagletown and Broken Bow; and was a member of First Assembly of God Church.
He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Pennon Sr. of Eagletown, Okla.; three sister, Belicia Lewis of Dallas, Tex., LaRhonda Pennon of Oklahoma City, Okla., and LaKrisha Pennon of Eagletown, Okla.; two brothers, Maurice and Cedric Cherry of Idabel, Okla.; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jessie Lewis of Eagletown, Okla., Mrs. Louisa Wright of Ashdown, and Mary Pennon of Oklahoma City, Okla.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 5 in Eagletown High School Gym with Bro. Jimmy Townsend officiating. Burial followed at Eagletown cemetery under the direction of Brumley Funeral Home, Broken Bow, Okla.
Ann L. Wester
Ann L. Wester, age 52, a resident of Horatio, died Friday, February 4, 2005 in Little Rock.
She was born September 20, 1952 in Lake City, Ark. She was a pipe-fitter and a welders helper and was a Baptist.
She is survived by her husband, Doyle Wester of Horatio; one daughter, Marie Wester, and one son, Terry Wester, both of Horatio; her parents, Von and Martha Beakley Smith of Bay, Ark.; two brothers, Don Smith of Nesbit, Miss., and John Smith of Bay, Ark.; one sister, Nora Lee King of Truman, Ark.; six grandchildren, Lewis Wester, Keith Wester, Kalee Wester, Maloree Wester, Levi Wester, and Steven Stinson.
Funeral services for Mrs. Wester were held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 8, 2005 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in De Queen with Rev. J. L. Walker officiating. Graveside services were held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 10, in the Pine Log cemetery near Paragould, Ark.
The family received friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Monday, February 7, 2005 at the funeral home.
Daniel Ray Harmon
Daniel Ray Harmon, age 14, resident of Gillham, died Thursday, Dec. 9, 2004 at De Queen Regional Medical Center.
He was born June 17, 1990 in Mena; was a student at De Queen Middle School; and attended the Christ Community Church at Grannis.
He is survived by his parents, Andrew David and Christine Marie Hill Harmon of Gillham; one sister, Cassandra Bernice Harmon of Gillham; and his grandparents, Sandra and Duane Hill of Mena.
Daniel was sent for cremation. A memorial service will be held at 12 noon Sunday, Dec. 12 at the Christ Community Church at Grannis.
Marion “Carlene” Staggs
Marion “Carlene” Staggs, resident of Coweta, Okla., died Friday, Nov. 25, 2004.
She was born May 25, 1928 in Lockesburg. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jenks Staggs, in 1991; her parents, Carlie and Letha Doss; and ten brothers and sisters.
She is survived by a daughter, Carole McGill of Coweta, Okla.; two sisters, Ruth Ragan and Chanie Needham, both of Little Rock; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1 in Memorial Park Chapel at Tulsa, Okla.
Francisco Javier Sustaita Herrera
Francisco Javier Sustaita Herrera, age 38, a resident of Broken Bow, Okla., died Thursday, December 9, 2004 at Dierks, Ark.
He was born July 22, 1966 in CD Ocampo, Tamaulipas, Mexico to Benjamin Sustaita and Trinidad Herrera. He was a logger most of his life.
He is survived by his wife, Lavona Jessie Sustaita of the home; two stepdaughters, Jennifer McGinnis of Ada, Okla. and Melissa Buck of Broken Bow, Okla.; three step-grandchildren, Beau, Jacie and “Trae”; one brother, Julio Sustaita of Idabel, Okla.; two cousins, Jose Sustaita and Omar Sustaita of De Queen, Ark.; his parents of Ocampo, Tamaulipas; nine brothers, three sisters and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Francisco “Coco” was a wonderful man with a big heart and will be missed greatly by all who knew him.
Mass services for Francisco were held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 15, 2004 in the St. Barbara’s Catholic Church in De Queen, Ark. with Father John Brown officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mexico.
