Daniel Ray Harmon

Daniel Ray Harmon, age 14, resident of Gillham, died Thursday, Dec. 9, 2004 at De Queen Regional Medical Center.

He was born June 17, 1990 in Mena; was a student at De Queen Middle School; and attended the Christ Community Church at Grannis.

He is survived by his parents, Andrew David and Christine Marie Hill Harmon of Gillham; one sister, Cassandra Bernice Harmon of Gillham; and his grandparents, Sandra and Duane Hill of Mena.

Daniel was sent for cremation. A memorial service will be held at 12 noon Sunday, Dec. 12 at the Christ Community Church at Grannis.

Preston Theodore Wolf

Preston Theodore Wolf, age 73, resident of Hawkins, Tex., died Friday, Dec. 10, 2004 at his home.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 13 in Beaty Funeral Home Chapel, Hawkins. Burial followed in Hawkins cemetery.

He was born Jan. 19, 1931 at De Queen to Lewis Benjamin and Mackie Clark Wolf; was a builder/contractor; active with the Hawkins Area Chamber of Commerce; and served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Alma Wolf; and his first wife, Sharon Edgar Wolf.

He is survived by his wife, Altie Wolf of Hawkins, Tex.; one son, Trey Wolf of Hawkins, Tex.; two daughters, Melanie Turner of White Oak, Tex., and Kimberly Fasken of Paris, Tex.; two stepdaughters, Judy Conner of Houston, Tex., and Debbie de’Fore of Las Vegas, Nev.; one brother, Houston Wolf of Medford, Ore.; one stepbrother, Weldon Reed of De Queen; three sisters, Ethel Waldon and Bernice Dolph, both of De Queen, and Catherine Gentry of Wickes; six grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 12 at the funeral home.

Memorial may be made to Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd., Tyler, Tex. 75701.

Julie Sue Smith

Julie Sue Smith, age 88, resident of Richardson, Tex., and formerly of De Queen, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004 at her home.

She was born Oct. 10. 1916 in Terrell, Tex., to Edgar Lozo and Mollie Sudie Smith; was a member of the Richardson Path Finders Class of First United Methodist Church; Eastern Star; and the Richardson Women’s Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hollis A. Smith in 1970.

She is survived by two sons, Carson Smith of Amarillo, Tex., and Charles Smith of Richardson, Tex.; one daughter, Judy Cash of Richardson, Tex.; one brother, E.L. Smith Jr.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a niece, Mona Moore of De Queen.

Funeral services were held at 12 noon Monday, Dec. 13 in Sparkman/Hillcrest at Dallas, Tex. Entombment was in Mausoleum Garden, Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Lois Iva Thomas

Lois Iva Walters Thomas, age 93, resident of Dierks, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005 in Howard Memorial Hospital.

She was born Feb. 24, 1911 in Dierks to William and Estella Allen Walters; was a retired poultry farmer; and a member of Holly Creek Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.H. “Foot” Thomas; a grandson, Scott Thomas; two brothers and three sisters.

She is survived by one son, Dale Thomas of Dierks; one daughter, Devonda Ford of Dierks; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 31 in Holly Creek Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. David Helms and Larry Allbritton officiating. Burial followed in Green’s Chapel cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.

Javier Arias Vasquez

Javier Arias Vasquez, age 35, resident of De Queen, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005 from injuries received in an automobile accident at Lockesburg.

He was born Feb. 8, 1970 in Tabasco, Mexico to Ciriaco Arias and Margarita Vasquez Jimenez; was a Catholic; and worked in tree plantations.

Besides his parents he is survived by his wife, Guadalupe Vasquez and a son, Carolos, both of Mexico; and one brother, Zebedco Vasquez of Center, Tex.

Burial will be in Mexico under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

Raltamae C. (Godwin) Price

Raltamae C. (Godwin) Price, age 81, a resident of De Queen, died Tuesday, February 1, 2005 in the Christus St. Michael Healthcare System in Texarkana.

She was born November 23, 1923 in De Queen. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.

Mrs. Price was preceded in death by her husband, Leon F. Price, January 27, 1960 and a brother, Deward Godwin.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Leann and Bill Meeks of Texarkana, Ark. and Lynette and Charles Hall of De Queen; two sons and daughters-in-law, J.D. and Kathy Price of Hallsville, Texas and Mark Price and Linda Balch of De Queen; one brother, Arlin Martin of Hermitt, Calif.; one aunt, Belle Thomas of De Queen; one uncle, Walter Godwin of De Queen; one granddaughter, Kim Meeks of Texarkana, Ark.; three grandsons and two granddaughters-in-law, Joe and Ginni McDonald of Greenwood, Ark., Brian and Jamie Meeks and Daniel Meeks, both of Texarkana, Ark.; and one great-granddaughter, Kristie McDonald of Greenwood, Ark.

Funeral services for Mrs. Price were held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 4, 2005 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Oscar Ball officiating. Burial followed in the Oddfellow section of the Lockesburg cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Oddfellow cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 311, Lockesburg, AR 71846.

L.B. "B.B." Clay

L.B. "B.B." Clay, age 67, a resident of Lockesburg, died Saturday, February 19, 2005 in the Christus St. Michael Hospital.

He was born August 23, 1937 in Falls Chapel, AR to Joel W. "Boss" and Leta McKellar Clay. He was a retired millwright for Day & Zimmerman and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lockesburg.

He is survived by his wife, Pat Clay; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Patti Clay of De Queen and Chuck and Susan Clay of Dierks; one daughter and son-in-law, Candi and Gary Fant of Lockesburg; five brothers, J.T. Clay of Broken Bow, OK, Cecil Clay of Texarkana, AR, Herman "Dago" Clay, Wayne Clay and Alton Clay all of Lockesburg, AR; four sisters, Nelda McPherson of Arlington, TX, Joyce Gore of Lockesburg, Marilyn Groves of Tuscallosa, AL and Melba Gore of Texarkana, TX; four grandchildren, Justin Fant, Tyler Fant, Macy Clay and Marli Clay.

Mr. Clay was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Henry Clay.

Funeral Services for Mr. Clay were held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 22, 2005 in the First United Methodist Church of Lockesburg with Rev. Wesley Blankenship and Rev. Lynn McClure officiating. Burial followed in the Lockesburg cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

Dora Lowry

Dora Jauidell Reese Lowry, age 89, of Dierks, went to be with her heavenly Father on February 22, 2005.

She was born January 30, 1916 to Otis and Eva (Jones) Reese.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Thomas Opie Lowry; one daughter, Wilda O'vida Lowry.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Lucille and Max Cowart of Umpire and Clista and Lee Lemons of Horatio; one brother, Billy Reese of Lovington, NM; 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Lowry were held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 24, 2005 in the Old Center cemetery with Bro. Kenny Bizzell officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
