Bo Hunter Gideon
Bo Hunter Gideon, infant son of Paul Bryant Jr. and Betty Go Gentry Gideon, resident of Horatio, died Wednesday, April 27, 2005 at his home.
He was born Feb. 1, 2005 at Little Rock.
Besides his parents, he is survived by a brother, Paul Matthew Gideon of Horatio; two sisters, Rachel Elisabeth Gideon and Rebecca Jo Gideon, both of Horatio; his grandparents, Paul B. Sr. and Dorothy Mae Gideon of Hot Springs, and Billy Joe and Della Mae Gentry of Edgemont.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 28 in Old Center cemetery, Horatio, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.
Billy Gene Brewer
Billy Gene “Bill” Brewer, age 70, resident of Wickes, died Sunday, May 15, 2005 in Texarkana, Tex.
He was born Nov. 27, 1934 in Stillwell, Okla., to the late George Washington and Arvie Collins Brewer; was the owner of a grocery store in Wickes; and was of the Pentecostal faith.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Stella Brewer of Wickes; a brother, Charles “Jack” Brewer of Wickes; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 18 at the Wickes Pentecostal Church of God with Bro. Chris Burke officiating. Interment followed in Baker cemetery, under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
W. Cary Lewis Sr.
W. Cary Lewis Sr., 69, of Dauphin Island, Alabama, died Tuesday, January 17, 2006. He was born January 26, 1936, in Chicago, Illinois. Cary was a long term employee with Weyerhaeuser Company and retired in 2004.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
He is survived by his wife, Frankie Jean Lewis; three daughters and three sons-in-law, Lorena and Mike Branson of Hot Springs, Ark., Kelly and Tommy Williams of De Queen, Ark., and Carrie Lynn and Tim McGaha of Horatio, Ark.; one son and daughter-in-law, W. Cary and Mary Lewis of Little Rock, Ark.; one stepson and daughter-in-law, William "Bill" Alan and Sarah Frazier of Memphis, Tenn.; one stepdaughter and son-in-law, Diana Lynne and Paul Adcox of Mandeville, La.; 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and one niece.
At his request, there was no memorial service. His children held a private remembrance in Hot Springs.

Grover Henry Oglesby
Grover Henry Oglesby, age 85, a resident of Haworth, Okla. died Tuesday, January 24, 2006 in the McCurtain Memorial Hospital in Idabel, Okla.
He was born February 3, 1920 in Arkinda, to Clarence and Vera Baker Oglesby.
He is survived by his wife, Essie Sexton Oglesby of Haworth; one son, Bill Oglesby also of Haworth; three brothers, Howard Oglesby of Crossroads, Bruce Oglesby of Foreman and Dale Oglesby of Crossroads; two sisters, Velma Green of Wichita, Kan. and Verna Seller of Texas; two grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Friday, Jan. 27, in the Piney cemetery with James McRae, minister officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
Ethel Lee Lipscomb
Ethel Lee Lipscomb, age 88, a resident of Flippin, Ark., formerly of De Queen, passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2006 in the Twin Lakes Nursing Center in Flippin.
She was born March 29, 1917 in Arkinda, Ark. to William and Nada (Arnold) Brown. She was a retired legal secretary for Abe Collins in De Queen for many years. She was a member of the Flippin First Baptist Church and longtime member of the De Queen First Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Draughn's Business College in Little Rock. Mrs. Lipscomb had made Flippin her home since 1999, having moved there from De Queen. Ethel married
J. W. Lipscomb on September 2, 1945; he preceded her in death on July 4, 2002.
Mrs. Lipscomb was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Bob Stansfield and Judy and Steve Martin, all of Flippin; two grandchildren, Chris Martin of Dallas, Texas and Kelly Stamps and her husband, Scott, of Bentonville, Ark.; and one niece, Janice Thomas of Texarkana, Ark.
Visitation was held at the Flippin First Baptist Church on Tuesday, January 17 from 6-7 p.m. with services beginning at 7 p.m. with Bro. Steve Martin officiating.
Graveside funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Thursday, January 19, 2006 in the Redmen cemetery.
Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, January 18 at the Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

Mary Ruth Kinney Watkins
Mrs. Mary Ruth Kinney Watkins, age 84, resident of Anchorage, Alaska and former resident of De Queen, and Eagletown, Okla. died Tuesday, January 17, 2006 in the Providence Hospital in Anchorage.
She was born December 24, 1921 in Memphis, Tenn. to Lawrence Marion and Oda Mae Faucett Kinney. She was a retired conservation director for the U.S. Geographical Survey, as well as a homemaker, a member of the First Baptist Church of Anchorage, a member of the Anchorage Women’s Bowling Association, and a former member of the Civil Air Patrol.
She was preceded in death by two brothers; Marion A. Kinney and William Herbert Kinney; a daughter, Patricia Watkins and a granddaughter, Sharon Watkins.
She is survived by two sons; Ben Marshall of Midlothian, Texas and Thomas Ray Watkins of Anchorage, Alaska; two daughters, Helen Glee Lane of Ft. Worth, Texas and Katherine Lorraine Hansen of Anchorage, Alaska; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mary Ruth Watkins were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 22, in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ralph Staggs officiating. Burial followed in the Chapel Hill cemetery.
Jack Wallace Bunyard
Jack Wallace Bunyard, 79, of De Queen died Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2006 at his home. He was born in Morrilton, Ark. Oct. 29, 1926. He was a retired fireman with the De Queen Fire Department with 25 years of service.
He was a veteran of the Merchant Marines during World War II and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Bunyard was retired from ALLTEL after a 37-year career in the telephone industry. He started his career with the De Queen Telephone Company and later with Allied Telephone. He was responsible for maintaining De Queen's telephone equipment after dial telephones replaced the old operated-assisted phone system.
He was a deacon in the First Baptist Church and was a member of the De Queen Lions Club. His hobbies included working and spending time with his six grandsons.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 26, at First Baptist Church of De Queen with Rev. Faron Rogers officiating.
Burial followed in Redmen cemetery under direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home. Pallbearers were members of the Paul-Timothy Sunday school class of First Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Anne Bunyard; three sons and their wives, Jay and Teresa Bunyard and Jon and Sonya Bunyard, all of De Queen; and Joel and Melinda Bunyard of Cochran, Canada; six grandsons, Jacob Bunyard, Joseph Bunyard, Michael Monroy, John David Bunyard, James Bunyard and Jack Bunyard; one sister, Catherine Riggle of Valdosta, Ga.; one brother, Wayne Bunyard of Gainesville, Texas; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund.
Conway Robinson
Conway Robinson, age 84, resident of Fayetteville, died Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2006.
He was born April 5, 1921 in Baltimore, Md., to Conway and Jane Dorsey Robinson; began his writing career as a reporter in Annapolis; was the Farm Director at WBAL (Baltimore) where he developed his own programs for radio and television; published two books; contributed many stories to the Farmer’s Almanac, newspapers, magazines and television programs; then served as Public Information Officer for the Maryland State Comptrollers office, from which he retired in 1978.
He is survived by his wife, Corinne Bollinger Robinson of Fayetteville; a daughter, Rita Massey Vail; a sister, Margot Robinson Hochmuth; four granddaughters; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28 in St. Paul’s Episcopal in Fayetteville. Ashes will be interred at Eureka Springs cemetery at a later date. Cremation was by Moore’s Chapel.
