Mrs. Venar Tucker
Mrs. Venar Lee Henry Tucker, age 74, resident of Grannis, died Thursday, Sept. 1, 2005 at the home of her son in De Queen.
She was born May 21, 1931 at Pine Prairie, La.; was a homemaker; a former employee of Rubber Corporation of Arkansas; a poultry grower; and a member of the Baptist Church and the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond J. Tucker; one son, Jimmy Tucker; one brother, Kenneth Johnston; and one sister, Gail LaBlanc.
She is survived by one son, Keith Tucker of De Queen; two sisters, Velma Creel of Oakdale, La., and Dorothy Peterson of Metairie, La.; two granddaughters; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 4 in Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Lyndon Fenton officiating with Eastern Star Rites.
Burial followed in Mineral cemetery at Gillham.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2 at the funeral home.
Frankie Augusta Brooks
Mrs. Frankie Augusta Rink Brooks, age 90, resident of De Queen, died Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2005 in De Queen Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 24, 1914 at Quitman, Tex., to George Washington and Roxie Ann Miller Rink; was a homemaker; a member of All Saints of America Orthodox Christian Church; and a former member of First United Methodist Church and the E.H.C.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Elliot Brooks; her parents; and three sisters, Jeffie Johnson, Flora Morrison and Ethel Whitley.
She is survived by three sons, Kenneth Brooks of Sacramento, Calif., Bobby Brooks of Selmer, Tenn., and Father George Brooks of De Queen; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 15 in All Saints of America Orthodox Christian Church.
Graveside services followed in Redmen cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Red Cross for the Katrina Hurricane Relief.
Nelson “Bud” Fisk
Nelson “Bud” Fisk, age 86, resident of Lockesburg, died Saturday, Sept. 10, 2005 in De Queen Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 1, 1919 at Lockesburg to Ralph and Melissa Alford Fisk; was retired from Weyerhaeuser Company; and a member of Provo Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder for 53 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Elson Fisk and Rev. Wade Fisk; his first wife, Leona Fisk; and a daughter, Janice House.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Ivalyn Crisp McBay Fisk of Lockesburg; one daughter, Joyce VanMeter of Omaha, Neb.; eight stepchildren, Ruby Emerson of Texarkana, James McBay of Pittsboro, Ind., Judy Lane of Kansas, Okla., Pat Bourne of Indianapolis, Ind., Phyllis Nabors of Provo, Danny McBay of Greenbrier, Kerry McBay and Jay Dee McBay, both of Hot Springs; two brothers, Ralph Fisk Jr. of De Queen and Fred Fisk of Dierks; three sisters, Lucille Leggin of Lockesburg, Betty Porter of amity and Maude Burris of Gillham; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13 in Provo Presbyterian Church with Rev. Wallace Wooten, Rev. Fred Cox and Rev. Clayton Cox officiating.
Burial followed in McHorse cemetery under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12 at the funeral home.
LaWanda Sue David
LaWanda Sue David, age 68, resident of Moore, Okla., died Thursday, Aug. 25, 2005.
She was born Sept. 5, 1937 at Dardanelle.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Irene Heflin and Loy Foster; a sister, Freda Kendrick; and two brothers, Robert Foster and Lonnie Foster.
She is survived by two daughters, Debbie Ward and Tammy David, both of Moore, Okla.; two sisters, Sally Lansdell and Verla Moyer and two brothers, Larry Foster and Don Ford, all from Arkansas; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 29 under the direction of John M. Ireland Funeral Home.
George Richard McDowell
George Richard McDowell, age 58, resident of Hope, died Friday, Aug. 26, 2005 at his home.
He was born Sept. 24, 1946 at Hope to Ray and Mildred Tarpley McDowell; was a Certified Public Accountant; worked for the State of Arkansas as the Public Service Commission and as a coordinator of fiscal services for the Arkansas Department of Education; was a member of the Arkansas and American Societies of Certified Public Accountants and First United Methodist Church of Hope; a former member of the Hope Chamber of Commerce; and served in the U.S. Army and the Army Reserve.
He is survived by his wife, Pamela P. McDowell of Hope; two daughters, Amanda Patterson of Austin, Tex., and Amy Whorton of Hot Springs; one sister, Judy Morris of Denton, Tex.; three grandchildren; one nephew and one niece.
Memorial services were held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30 at Hammonds Stadium, Hope, with Rev. David Porterfield officiating under the direction of Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home, Hope.
The family received friends from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Rev. J.R. Callicott
Rev. Joy R. “Pete” Callicott, age 84, resident of Blevins, died Sunday, Aug. 28, 2005 in East Texas Medical Center at Tyler, Tex.
He was born Oct. 6, 1920 in New Salem Community of Nevada County to Moody and Sarah White Callicott; was a minister and pastor of Friendship United Methodist Church in McCaskill and also served Milford Union Church outside of Lockesburg; was a disabled veteran of the Army serving in World War II and the Battle of the Bulge; pastored many churches over his 60 plus years of ministry; and was a 32nd degree Mason.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy and Lindell Callicott; and one sister, Irene Thompson.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Nellie Hicks Callicott of Blevins; one daughter, Barbara Nell Barber of McCaskill; one brother, Coy Callicott of Searcy; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31 in Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home at Prescott with Rev. David Wilson and Rev. David Prothro officiating.
Burial followed in Caney cemetery.
