Lloyd Lowell Shelton

Lloyd Lowell Shelton, age 87, resident of Hochatown, Okla., died Tuesday, April 10, 2001 in Baylor Medical Center in Irving, Tex.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 13 in Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bobby Neal officiating. Burial followed in Green's Chapel cemetery.

He was born June 12, 1913 in Green's Chapel to the late Joseph Robert and Nellie Priest Shelton; and was a heavy equipment operator. He was predeceased by his wife, Vondal Sanders Shelton on July 21, 1984.

He is survived by a son, Joe Shelton of Irving, Tex.; a brother, John Shelton of Garland, Tex.; a sister, Nola Huffman of Green's Chapel; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.

Opal Irene McKinney

Mrs. Opal Irene McRae McKinney, age 83, resident of De Queen, died Sunday, April 8, 2001 in Brookewood Nursing Home.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 10 in De Queen Church of Christ with Jim Weatherford, minister, officiating. Burial followed in Chapel Hill cemetery under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home.

She was born May 13, 1917 in De Queen to Elmer and Nona Matthews McRae; and was a homemaker. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Loyal Burdett McKinney; two brothers, Virgil McRae and Walter McRae; two sisters, Nona Mae Phillips and Edith Phillips; and a grandson, Kevin McKinney.

She is survived by a son, Keith McKinney of De Queen; a daughter, Nedra Frady of Texarkana; two brothers, Coleman McRae and Jim McRae, both of De Queen; a sister, Ella Weaver of Arlington, Tex.; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Ralph Lewis

Ralph Lewis, age 59, resident of Lamar, Okla., died Saturday, April 7, 2001 at his home.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 10 in Wetumka cemetery under the direction of Williamson Funeral Home of Wetumka.

He was born Nov. 19, 1941 in Richmond to Nile Eugene Lewis and Bonnie Marie Pickett Lewis; was a graduate of Ashdown High School; served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict; was an Arkansas highway patrolman from 1970 to 1994 when he retired; then worked for the Arkansas Department of Corrections. He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Gene Lewis of Texarkana; and a granddaughter, Carli Wagner of Mena.

He is survived by his wife, Susie Bruner Lewis of Lamar, Okla.; a son, David Lewis of Redwater, Tex.; Greg Brewer of Monticello and Jami Wagner of Holdenville, Okla.; a sister, Evelyn McDowell of Ogden; a brother, Mickey Lewis of Ashdown; and six grandchildren.

Estell Oketa Kerley

Mrs. Estell Oketa Montgomery Kerley, age 80, resident of Lockesburg, died Friday, April 6, 2001 in Wadley Regional Medical Center at Texarkana.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 10 in Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Henry Williams officiating. Burial followed in Belleville cemetery.

She was born Dec. 30, 1920 at Goldthwaite, Tex., to Jesse Clyde and Ora Wicker Montgomery; was a homemaker; and a member of Laguna Baptist Church at Laguna Park, Tex.

She is survived by her husband, Oner I. Kerley; one son, Maloye Kerley of Midlothian, Tex.; one daughter, Carol Reeves of Lockesburg; one sister, Jessie Daughtery of Nacogdoches, Tex.; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Willie Isaac Jones

Willie Isaac Jones, age 90, resident of Dierks, died Thursday, April 5, 2001 in St. Michael Health Care Center at Texarkana.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 7 in Holly Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Dierks with Rev. Bill Driggers officiating. Burial followed in McHorse cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home of De Queen.

Viewing will be held at the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in Dierks.

He was born Nov. 29, 1910 in Howard County to the late Daniel and Dora Cooley Jones; was a sawmill worker with Weyerhaeuser; and a member of Holly Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Dierks.

He is survived by his wife, Fannie Jones of Dierks; one son, Bobby R. Jones of Memphis, Tenn.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Virgil A. Edwards

Virgil A. Edwards, age 88, resident of McAlester, Okla., died Friday, April 6. 2001 in a local nursing home.

Graveside services with full military honors by Ft. Sill U.S. Army and VFW Post #1098 were held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 9 in Oak Hill cemetery with Rev. Pat Hackler officiating under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service of McAlester.

He was born June 18, 1912 in Ruston, La., to Lemuel R. and Clara Chandler Edwards; was an Army veteran of World War II; received the bronze star, purple heart, good conduct medal, American Campaign medal, World War II victory medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign medal, combat infantryman badge, and the honorable service lapel button of World War II; worked as a railway postal clerk for the Rock Island Railroad until his retirement; was a member and overseer of the pantry of First Christian Church of McAlester; VFW Post #1098; Harrison-Powers Post #79; American Legion; and the McAlester B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge #533. He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Mattie Tabor Edwards on May 19, 1997; a son, James L. Edwards in 1989; three brothers, Gilbert Edwards, Royce Edwards and Harrell Edwards; and a sister, Audie Jones.

He is survived by a son, Larry Edwards of Mustang, Okla.; two daughters, Marilyn Rae King of Donna, Tex., and Pat Leeper of McAlester, Okla.; one brother, W.C. "Pete" Edwards of De Queen; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Elsie Mae Bogan

Mrs. Elsie Mae Brake Bogan, age 83, resident of Bridgeport, Tex., died Tuesday, April 3, 2001 in Dallas Presbyterian Hospital at Dallas, Tex.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 7 in Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Richard Frank, minister, officiating. Burial followed in Redmen cemetery.

She was born Aug. 30, 1917 in King to the late Arthur and Bessie Wilson Brake; was a homemaker; and of the Holiness faith. She was predeceased by her husband, Otis Millard Bogan on Feb. 11, 1982.

She is survived by four sons, Wayne Bogan, Gerald Bogan, David Bogan and Ricky Bogan; two daughters, Verna Cypert and Mary Underhill; four brothers, Floyd Brake, Harlon Brake, Darrell Brake, and W.C. "Dub" Brake; two sisters, Vila Sloan and Mildred Wilkinson; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grand-children; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Margaret Aaron

Mrs. Margaret Ferry Aaron, age 69, resident of De Queen, died Sunday, April 8, 2001 in De Queen Regional Medical Center.

Cremation was arranged by Wilkerson Funeral Home of De Queen.

She was born April 9, 1931 in Lewisville, Tex., to the late Robert H. and Margaret Lloyd Ferry; and was a homemaker.

She is survived by a sister, Jewel Ewing of De Queen; and a niece, Barbara Calk of De Queen.
