James Floyd "Buddy" Whisenhunt
Mr. James F. "Buddy" Whisenhunt, age 72, a resident of Gillham, Arkansas, died Saturday, September 3, 2005 in Texarkana, Texas.
He was born on Friday, November 11, 1932 in Arkinda, Ark. to Samuel Lee and Dora Augusta Mangus Whisenhunt.
He was retired from Halliburton and he was a rancher.
Mr. Whisenhunt was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Whisenhunt is survived by his wife, Becky Jane Freeman Whisenhunt of Gillham; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary Lee and Karen Whisenhunt, Pat and Velma Whisenhunt all of Gillham; one daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Mike Campbell of Mena; four brothers, Gene, Harvey and David Whisenhunt all of Gillham and Charles Whisenhunt of Dierks; two sisters, Linda Vaught of Horatio and Inez Parks of Wickes; six grandchildren, Morgan Frachiseur, Angie Frachiseur, Brad Whisenhunt, Rebecca Campora, Tara Whisenhunt and Meagan Whisenhunt; seven great-grandchildren, Kayla and Kelsie Frachiseur, Austin and Tristan Whisenhunt, Gage and Carly Ward and Dacie Campora, and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Whisenhunt were held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 7, 2005 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in De Queen with David Jacobs, minister officiating.
Burial followed in the Mineral cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
The family was at the home of Becky Whisenhunt at 169 Mineral Rd., Gillham, AR.
Billy Wayne Blackburn III
Billy Wayne Blackburn III, age 20, resident of Harriman, died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2005 at the UT Medical Center in Knoxville.
He was born April 11, 1985 in Dallas, Tex.; was a 2004 graduate of Oliver Springs High School where he served as OSHS Bobcat Mascot his senior year; currently enrolled at Roane State Community College; a champion bicyclist placing fifth in the BMX Bicyclist National Finals when he was five years old; a volunteer fireman with the Blair Volunteer Fire Department; and employed by Coors Technical Ceramic Corp. in Oak Ridge.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Billy Wayne Blackburn.
He is survived by his parents, Billy Wayne and Jennifer Blackburn II of Harriman; one sister, Jenna-Beth Blackburn of Harriman; grandparents, Frances Shannon of Oak Ridge, Robert Jett and Janice Shannon of Oliver and Geneva and Buddy West of Dierks; his step-grandmother, Betty Register Blackburn of Kingston; and his great-grandfather, Woodrow Kesterson of Dierks.
Funeral services were held at 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26 in Sharp Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robbie Leach officiating.
Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27 in Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
The family received friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26 at the funeral home.
A.E. Sturdevant
Arlen Edson Sturdevant, age 81, resident of De Queen, died Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2005 at his home.
He was born Sept. 24, 1923 at Windyville, Mo., to John Elbert and Cora Elssa Scott Sturdevant; was a member of Rose Hill Baptist Church; retired from Natural Gas & Pipeline of America Texarkana; and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and later served with the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Lois Burtin, Dottie Poindexter and Dollie Taylor; and one brother, Lawrence Sturdevant.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Doris Rice Sturdevant of De Queen; one son, Jerry Sturdevant of Texarkana; three daughters, Dianne Chandler Howell of Denison, Tex., Linda Wilson of Horatio, and Tammy Morris of Broken Bow, Okla.; one brother, Everett Sturdevant of Windyville, Mo.; one sister, Dorothy McInturff of Springfield, Mo., 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 3 in Mt. Ida cemetery with Rev. Tim Bowling officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2 at the funeral home.
Mr. Dub Bingham
On this day, Sunday, August 28, 2005, Thomas Wilkins "Dub" Bingham departed the earth to be with our Lord Jesus Christ.
He was preceded in death by his Mother and Father, Clara Isabelle and Thomas Hill Bingham, as well as his sister, Ina Lee Bingham, all of Amarillo, Texas.
Mr. Bingham is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Faye Hamby Bingham, one son, Michael David Bingham, both of De Queen, Arkansas, and one daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and Kenny Williams of Ashdown, Arkansas.
Also among the survivors, include two brothers, Billy Reed Bingham of Emporia, Kansas, and Ray Edwin Bingham of Wickenburg, Arizona; and two sisters, Jo Ann Cannon of Amarillo, Texas, and Louise Palmier of Orlando, Florida.
Mr. Bingham was blessed with three grandchildren, Angela Lands of Baltimore, Maryland, Aaron Harrison of Louisville, Kentucky, and Matthew Harrison of Texarkana, Arkansas; and four great-grandchildren, Trevor, Layne, Eathan, and Elliott; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
A retired building contractor, chicken and cattle rancher, Mr. Bingham was a member of the First Baptist Church in De Queen, where he served as a Deacon for many years.
He was a World War II veteran and a purple heart recipient, when wounded in Iwo Jima, Japan.
Mr. Bingham enjoyed golf, as well as being with friends and family.
In 1941 Mr. Bingham achieved the title of AAU Boxing Champion of Texarkana.
Graveside funeral services with Military Honors were held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 31, 2005 in the Mt. Ida cemetery with Bro. Billy Reed Bingham and Bro. Ray Edwin Bingham officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.
The family received friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 30th, at the Chandler Funeral Home.
The Bingham family was honored to receive all guests.
Winnie Pearl Lankford
Winnie Pearl Lankford, age 102, resident of Dierks, died Monday, Aug. 29, 2005 in Dierks Nursing Center.
She was born July 21, 1903 in Celina, Tex., to William Curtis and Lela Francis Lankford; was a retired school teacher; and a member of First Methodist Church of Sherman, Tex.
She is survived two nephews, Mitchell Lankford of Mena and Michael Lankford of Mesquite, Tex.; two great-nieces; one great nephew; and one great-great-niece.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31 in Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel at Dierks with Rev. Larry Albritton officiating.
Burial followed in Dierks cemetery.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30 at the funeral home in Dierks.
Earl Franklin Pritchett
Earl Franklin Pritchett, age 54, resident of De Queen, died Friday, Aug. 26, 2005 in De Queen Medical Center.
He was born Nov. 2, 1950 in Atmore, Ala., to Grover and Dora Scott Pritchett; was a security guard for Pilgrim’s Pride; and attended Geneva Missionary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by one son, Michael Shane Pritchett; one daughter, Dora Belcher; one granddaughter, Brittany Belcher; and one brother, Grover H. Pritchett Jr.
He is survived by one brother, William Pritchett of Grannis; four sisters, Dora Brown and Judy Pritchett, both of Turlock, Calif., Mary Marker of Modesto, Calif., and Paulette Brict of Hatfield; and one granddaughter.
Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30 in Overturf cemetery with Mike Bright officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
