Sherman Dean Jones
Sherman Dean Jones passed away February 26, 2006 at 8:20 p.m. in the Howard Memorial Hospital at the age of 66 years, 11 months, and 3 days. He was born March 23, 1939 in Dierks, Arkansas to Harrison and Agnes Jones.
Sherman was an active member of the Dierks United Methodist Church and a Veteran of the U.S. Army. He spent 18 years in law enforcement, and retired after 20 years as an electrician for Weyerhaeuser Company. He was also an active member of the Southwest Arkansas Ham Radio club, call sign KC5PVN.
Mr. Jones is preceded in death by his mother, father, and one sister, Joyce Peterson of Lincoln, Nebraska.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Jones of Dierks; a son and daughter-in-law, Max and Stefani Jones of De Queen; a daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Jeremy Jester of New Hope; four granddaughters, Neesha Stamps and Marci Stamps of New Hope, and Chelsea Jones and McKenzie Jones of De Queen; and one grandson, Zachary Albin of De Queen. He is also survived by one sister and brother-in-law, Martha and John Dowdy of Nashville; and one sister, Lynn Vaught of Dierks. Mr. Jones is also survived by seven nieces and eight nephews and a host of friends and other family members.
Services were at the United Methodist Church in Dierks, Arkansas on Wednesday, March 1, 2006, at 2 p.m. under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home. Burial was in the Athens cemetery.
Family hour was at the Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks, Arkansas on Tuesday, February 28, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Donald Crane
Donald Dorsey Crane, age 84, a resident of De Queen, died Thursday, March 2, 2006 in the De Queen Medical Center.
He was born on Sept. 15, 1921, was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army, a member of the Primitive Baptist Church of Columbia, MO.
He is survived by his wife, Velma B. Fowler Crane of De Queen; one son, Clinton Dale Crane of Columbia, MO.; two daughters, Donna Colette Elsberry of Flemington, MO. and Sondra Faye Nelson of Brentwood, Calif.; three step-sons, Marlin Dale Woodward of Idabel, Okla., Dennis L. Woodward of Cordova, Texas, and Fred E. Woodward of Idabel, Okla.; three step-daughters, Rosalee Carol Quinn of Canada, Sheryl Ann Lovell Wood of Broken Bow, Okla., and Darlene Kay Matheson of De Queen; 28 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were held at 10 a.m., Monday, March 6 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel.
Loren C. Riggs
Loren C. Riggs, age 70, a resident of Fort Worth, Texas, died March 11, 2006 in a Fort Worth Hospital.
He was born Nov. 26, 1926 in Bokoshe, Okla., was retired from the Air Force, served in World War II and Korea, and was a member of West Freeway Church of Christ in Fort Worth.
He is survived by his wife Linda; three daughters, Janet Denson of Lockesburg, Susan Riggs and Debbie Harris both of Fort Worth, Texas; five sons, Larry Riggs, Jimmy Lewis, and Johnny Lewis all of Fort Worth, Texas, Richard Riggs of Chazy, New York, and Bobby Riggs of Orlando, Fla.; one brother, Bill Riggs of Ardmore, Okla.; two sisters, Evelyn Gann of Fort Worth, Texas and Mildred Allison of Malvern; 30 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 15 in the West Freeway Church of Christ. Burial with military honors followed in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville, Texas.
Angel Sellers
Angel Darlene Sellers, age 38, a resident of De Queen, died Tuesday, March 21, 2006 in the Christus St. Michael Health System.
She was born Feb. 21, 1968 in Houston, Texas to James Thomas and Janice Boles Sellers, and was a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her father in 1991.
She is survived by one daughter, Lainey Michelle Hendick of De Queen; her mother, Janice Sellers of De Queen; one brother, James Sellers III of Gillham; four sisters, Jamie Salinas of Dallas, Texas, Patricia Sellers of Yorktown, Texas, Kathy Sellers of Victoria, Texas and Mary Sellers also of Yorktown, Texas; her maternal grandmother, Ella Faye Perry of De Queen; and her paternal grandmother, Edna Sellers of Conroe, Texas and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Friday, March 24 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Homer Frachiseur officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
Betty Louise Edmondson
Mrs. Betty Louise Kuchera Edmondson, age 63, a resident of Rochelle, Texas died Sunday, February 26, 2006 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas.
She was born December 24, 1942 in Denver, Colo. to Charles and Myrtle Turner Kuchera. She was a cook and homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Myrtle Kuchera; one sister, Charlotte Akin; one brother, Charles Kuchera; and a granddaughter, Casey Price.
Mrs. Edmondson is survived by her children, Christina and Ronnie Price of Gillham, Kenneth and Roxie Edmondson of Showlow, Ariz., Kelvin Edmondson of Branson, Mo., Charles and Rita Edmondson of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Sherry and Marshall Wommack of Wickes, Ark.; her brothers and sisters, Kenneth Kuchera of Ft. Morgan, Colo., Mildred Keim of Lawrence, Kan., Doris Carnahan of Yampa, Colo., and Bobby Kuchera of Homer, Ala.; her companion, George Edmondson of Rochell, Texas; 28 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services for Mrs. Edmondson were held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 1, 2006 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with David Jacobs officiating. Cremation followed.
The family received friends at the home of Sherry Wommack, 477 Hwy. 278 E. in Wickes.
Steve Grant Hall
Steve Grant Hall, age 39, a resident of De Queen, died Wednesday, March 8, 2006 in the St. Michael Health Care Center in Texarkana, Texas.
He was born Feb. 19, 1967 in Hot Springs to Lawrence and Patsy Ann (Bell) Hall, and was a member of the First Assembly of God, De Queen.
He is survived by his parents, Lawrence and Patsy Hall; two sisters, Stephanie Butler and Christy Ligon, all of De Queen and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Friday, March 10 in the Redmen cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
Glenn West Sr.
Glenn "Buddy" Russell West Sr., age 65, a resident of Dierks, died Sunday, March 5, 2006 at his home.
He was born March 29, 1940 in Helenwood, Tenn. to Glen Curtis and Ellen Terry West, was of Southern Baptist faith and a member of the Umpire Community Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Lois Moore; a niece, Leah Moore; and a step-grandson, Billy Trey Blackburn.
He is survived by his wife, Geneva Kesterson West of Dierks; two sons, "Rusty" Glenn West Jr. of Oak Ridge, Tenn. and Dustin West of Knoxville, Tenn.; two daughters, Jenny Hill and Laurel Madden, both of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; two brothers, Larry West of Oak Ridge, Tenn. and James West of Lenoir City, Tenn.; two sisters, Jean Graham and Gail Stevens, both of Knoxville, Tenn.; one step-son, Billy Blackburn II of Harriman, Tenn.; one step-daughter, Cherie Borella of Hendersonville, Tenn.; eight grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Thursday, March 9 in the Umpire Community Church with the Rev. John Henry Williams officiating. Burial will followed in the Burg cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.
The family received friends from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, March 8, at the funeral home in Dierks.

Betty Ann Ford Blake
Betty Ann Ford Blake, age 67, a resident of Sevier Health Care Unit, died Saturday, February 18, 2006 in De Queen.
She was born May 26, 1938 in Ashdown to Lee and Texie Mahali Ford. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Blake was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Janie Ford Rowell and Viola Ford Russell Mixon; and one brother, Clifford Ford.
She is survived by a sister, Rosalie Ford Taylor of Odessa, Texas; two brothers, Garland Ford of Willits, Calif., and Dan Wesley Ford of Oklahoma; several nieces and nephews; one special nephew, Scott Rowell; and a host of friends.
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Blake were held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 21, 2006 in the Arden cemetery in Ashdown, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
