Danny Dean Davis
Danny Dean Davis, age 48, resident of Diana, died Saturday, March 18, 2006 at his home.
He was born Sept. 28, 1957 in Texarkana; and worked as a security guard for many years at Protect Security.
He is survived by his wife, Pam Davis; a daughter, Katherine Davis; a son, Daniel Davis; his mother and step-father, Dean and J.R. Gonser; brothers, Wayne Davis, Kent Davis and Donny Davis; a sister, Wanda Dowling; and two grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 21 in Valley cemetery at Gillham with the Rev. DeWayne Amos officiating, under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview.
Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 20.
Ruby Dickerson
Mrs. Phyliss Ruby Lane Dickerson, age 83, a resident of Foreman died Sunday, Feb. 26, 2006 at her home.
She was born May 14, 1922 in Somerset, England to John William and Gertrude Mariam Wyatt Lane, served in the English Military with the NAFFI, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Foreman.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Charles Edmond Dickerson in 1999; and her husband, Ervin C. Dickerson in 1988.
She is survived by one son, August Dickerson of Winthrop; one daughter, Deborah Jones of Foreman; one sister, Kathleen Cudlipp of England; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and a niece and nephew.
Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 4 in First Baptist Church of Crossroads.
Mrs. Lola Rae Pratt
Mrs. Lola Rae Buck Pratt, a resident of De Queen, died Wednesday, March 8, 2006 at the home of her daughter in Texakana, Texas.
Lola was born to Garland Ray and Zelma Wood Buck at Stidham, Oklahoma, on January 22, 1933.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of De Queen, and was retired from the Palace Restaurant of De Queen, where she was a cook. She was also an Avon representative, where she served as team leader. She enjoyed playing dominoes, socializing with friends, and she enjoyed the companionship with her special great-grand puppy, Gabriel.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Pratt; two sons, Ron Haley and Jon Pratt; two grandchildren, Chelle Haley Poole and Billy Roy Haley.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, David Haley and Anita Oglesby of Crossroads, Ark., and Arlis and Patsy Pratt of Eufaula, Okla.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Horace Poole of Texarkana, Texas, and Janell and Lupe Trujillo of Queen Creek, Ariz.; 20 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one sister, Maxine Rippy of Eufaula, Okla.; one sister by choice, Margie Funderburk of Amity, Ark., and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and special friends.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 13, 2006 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Virgil Romine, minister, officiating. Burial followed in the Millwee cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home.
The family received friends at the funeral home from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, March 12. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Jon Pratt Athletic Scholarship, Horatio State Bank, Horatio, Ark.
Betty Gean Warren
Betty Gean (Price) Warren, age 67, a resident of De Queen, died Wednesday, May 10, 2006 in the Christus St. Michael Healthcare Center in Texarkana, Texas.
She was born July 10, 1938 in Wickes, to Cecil and Gladys (Lyle) Price and she attended the Rose Hill Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Warren; her parents; two brothers, Doyle and Tommie Price and the father of her children, O.C. Guire.
She is survived by her children and two stepsons, Douglas Edward Guire of Nashville, Randall Lee Guire of De Queen, Laura Ann (Guire) Roberts and Twyla LaNiece Leach, both of De Queen, Michael Wayne and Diana Guire of Gillham, Neal Warren of Wickes and Roger Warren of Sherman, Texas; two sisters, D.J. Browning of De Queen and Delois Farley of Gillham; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, May 12 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tim Bolin and Rev. Dr. Rockey Starnes officiating. Burial will follow in the Daniel cemetery.
The family will receive friends form 6 to 7 p.m., Thursday, May 11, at the funeral home.
Mary Barrett
Mrs. Mary Will Gibson Barrett, age 87, a resident of Wickes, died Saturday, May 20, 2006 in Hot Springs.
She was born Feb. 11, 1919 in Argo, Texas to Willie Henry and Sibyl Cabiness Gibson, was the secretary for the Southern Baptist Women’s Association and a member of the Vandervoort Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Dee Barrett and three brothers, John, Fred and Pat Gibson.
She is survived by her sons, Wes of Pine Valley, Jim of Campo, Calif., Bill, Red, and David of Wickes, and Jack of Chandler, Texas; daughters, Nancy of Wickes, Sybil of Bryant, Kathy of Vandervoort, and Mary Beth of Mena; brothers, Jim Gibson of Cooksville, Texas and Bobby Gibson of El Paso, Texas; sisters, Sue Moss of Pittsburg, Texas and Becky Bush of Argo, Texas; 32 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 24 at 10 a.m. at the Wickes Pentecostal Church with Bro. Scott Ray officiating. Burial followed in Witherspoon cemetery in Vandervoort, under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
Visitation is general at the funeral home.
The family received friends and relatives at the home of Kathy Frachiseur.
Sandra A. Vann
Mrs. Sandra Annette Vann, age 37, a resident of Lockesburg, died Sunday, April 23, 2006 in the Christus St. Michael Healthcare Center.
She was born Sept. 22, 1968 in Texarkana, Texas to Phillip and Elizabeth Hubbard, was a homemaker and attended the Falls Chapel Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth Ann "Skipper" Hubbard in 1986 and a brother, Russell "Rusty" Hubbard in 1987.
She is survived by her husband, Terry Vann; one son, Dustin Hubbard of Maud, Texas; a step-daughter, Cari Vann of Cove; one brother, Holly Hubbard of Texarkana; a sister, Phyllis Hubbard of Texarkana, Texas; her father, Phillip Hubbard of Hooks, Texas; three step-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorial services are pending and will be announced later by Wilkerson Funeral Home.
Mr. Jack Harrell
Mr. Jack Eugene Harrell, age 91, resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Monday, May 8, 2006 in the Saint Joseph's Mercy Health Center in Hot Springs, after a lengthy illness.
Jack was born to William Tracy and Mary Florence Redding Harrell at Muskogee, Oklahoma on October 27, 1914. While living in the Gillham area, he met Daisie Inez Wright of De Queen, and they were married
on October 23, 1937. He was a member of the First Christian Church and served as Chairman of the Church Board. He was a member of the Sweet Home Lodge 461, where he served as Worshipful Master and received the Pillars of Solomon award for lifelong distinguished service. He was also a member of the Royal Arch Chapter and a Knight Commander of the Court of Honor of the Scottish Rite, and completed additional advanced degrees in the Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the Eastern Star, and served as Worthy Patron. He was retired from Mountaire Poultry, where he was Maintenance Supervisor, and was also retired from CCCUA, as Facilities Manager.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; a half-sister, Margaret Blanch McMillen; and on September 23, 2005, his wife, Daisie.
He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Bill Lewallen of Hot Springs, Ark.; one son and daughter-in-law, Travis "Gene" and Judy Harrell of Austin, Texas; five grandchildren and their spouses, Jerry and Pitty Lewallen of Austin, Texas, Douglas and Connie Lewallen of Natchitoches, La., Kristy and Delous Smith of Destreham, La., Stephanie and Jeff Sommers of San Antonio, Texas, and Scott Harrell of St. Petersburg, Fla.; three great-grandchildren, Kyle Lewallen of Austin, Texas, Sydney Sommers and Allison Sommers, both of San Antonio, Texas; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Jack Harrell will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 11, 2006 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Doug Dorris and Dr. Sterling Lacy officiating. Burial will follow in Redmen cemetery under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 10th.
Jorie Lynn Burt And Josie Ann Burt
Jorie Lynn Burt and Josie Ann Burt, infant twin daughters of Brandon and Jonie Burt of New Boston, Texas, died Saturday, April 15, 2006, in Wadley Hospital of Texarkana, Texas.
The twins were born April 15, 2006.
Besides their parents, they are survived by their paternal grandparents, Keith Burt of De Queen, and Gene and Barbara Lyle of Mena; paternal great-grandparents, James and Bobbie Ruth of De Queen and Ethel Baxter of Melbourne, Florida; maternal grandparents Joe and Janet Littleton of New Boston, Texas; and maternal great-grandparents Lloyd and LaNell Littleton of Fouke and Elaine Bledsoe of Texarkana; and other relatives.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at 2 p.m. at Victory Holiness Tabernacle, New Boston, Texas, with the Revs. Lloyd Shuecraft and Greg Roberts officiating. Burial followed in Magnolia cemetery under the direction of Bates-Rolf Funeral Home
Visitation was Monday, April 17, from 6-8 p.m. at Victory Holiness Tabernacle.
