David Wesley Logan
David Wesley Logan, age 44, resident of De Queen, died Sunday, Feb. 12, 2006 in Plainview, New York.
He was born Feb. 9, 1962 in Pensacola, Fla. to James Logan and Bettye Sue Mills Logan, and was a truck driver.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Lynn Kiepen Logan of De Queen; two sons, Trevor Logan and Kyle Logan both of Las Vegas, Nev.; his father, James Logan of Fallbrook, Calif.; his mother, Bettye Logan of Arlington, Texas; one sister, Beth Gayler of Las Vegas, Nev. and one granddaughter.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 18 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with President Gene Griffith officiating. Cremation followed.
Ethel Estelle Farley
Ethel Estelle Farley, age 88, a resident of Haworth, Okla., died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006 at Oak Grove Manor.
She was born March 6, 1917 at Jadie, Okla. to Sid and Molly McGough; was a homemaker; affiliated with Shinewell Community Church and a member of Shinewell Quilting Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Theo Farley on October 14, 2004; parents; four sisters, Mary Simpson, Alice Talley, Ellon Slabough, and Winifred “Tip” Garrison; three brothers, Nathan McGough, Eugene McGough and Willie “Fat” McGough.
She is survived by four sons, Darrel Farley of Oklahoma City, Okla., Joe Farley of Antlers, Okla., Ted Farley of Haworth, Okla. and Jim Farley of Hot Springs Village; two daughters, DeLois Guffey of Haworth, Okla. and Paulette Stout of Idabel, Okla.; one brother, Lex McGough of Haworth, Okla.; one sister, Lucille Pogue of Haworth, Okla.; 15 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 4 at Brumley Funeral Home Chapel, Idabel with Rev. Donna Dodson officiating.
The family received friends Friday, Feb. 3 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
James Howard Dennis
James Howard Dennis, 72, of Broken Bow, Okla. passed away Sunday, February 12, 2006, at Choctaw Memorial Hospital, Hugo, Okla.
He was born October 14, 1933 in Bowie County Texas, the son of Paul and Martha Ophelia Tidwell Dennis.
James was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pittsburg, Texas and was the president of the Lyons Club in Pittsburg. He retired from Pilgrim's Pride Industries as a Quality Control Supervisor and he enjoyed woodworking, watching the Martins fly in his back yard, gardening and flying. James loved his family and God.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Martha Dennis.
James leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Bobbi Jo Dennis, of the home; two sons, Tony Dennis and his wife, Carla, Gilmer, Texas and Mickey Dennis and his wife, Emma, Bolivar, Mo.; one step-son, Benton Gerone Moore, Broken Bow; three daughters, Diana Rudisill and her husband, Tommy, Broken Bow; Linda Gossett and her husband, Randy, Dekalb, Texas and Pam Benton, Diana, Texas; two brothers, Doc Dennis, Winfield, Texas and Paul Wayne Dennis, Tyler, Texas; one sister, Jaunice Huggins, Mt. Pleasant, Texas; 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Services were held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 14, 2006 at the Brumley Funeral Home Chapel, Broken Bow. Interment followed at the Hochatown cemetery, Hochatown, Okla. with Bro. Cletus Hawkins officating, under the direction of Brumley Funeral Home, Broken Bow, Okla.
The family received friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday February 13, 2006 at the Brumley Funeral Home Chapel, Broken Bow.
Gordon E. Longacre
Gordon E. Longacre, age 89, of Little Rock, died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2006. He was born July 14, 1916 in Horatio, to the late Joseph and Nina Longacre.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Hester and Dan Grady Longacre, and his sister Zama Lee Longacre Cowden.
Gordon attended Horatio High School; Centenary College in Shreveport, LA; served in the U.S. Army from Pearl Harbor until VJ Day; participated in the campaign in North Africa and the invasion of Sicily; was the manager of the TJ Bettis Mortgage Banking office in Little Rock (later Lomas and Nettleton) for many years; owner of First Mortgage Corporation; and was a Methodist, a Shriner and a Lion.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dorothy Thompson Longacre; two daughters, Pamela Kell and Lisa Hall; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 10, in the Millwee cemetery with Dr. Rockey E. Starnes officiating.
Friends and family visitation was held at the home of Steve and Marcia Buford, 1465 Hwy 24 in Horatio.
In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to the UAMS Guest House.
Glenn Oneal Friend
Glenn Oneal Friend, age 73, a resident of Sacramento, Calif., died Friday, Feb. 10, 2006 at his home.
He was born Aug. 22, 1932 in Arkinda to Willie E. and Pearlie Whisenhunt Friend, he works for South Pacific Railroad and served in the U.S. Airforce.
He was preceded in death by his wife Nancy Jean Norwood Friend.
He is survived by one sister, Neva Dell Smith of Foreman; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 18 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Cecil Atnip officiating. Burial followed in the Campground cemetery.
Elvis Morales Mendez
Elvis Morales Mendez, age 7, died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2006.
He was born March 12, 1998 in Manhattan, New York to Paula E. Mendez and Arturo Morales.
He is survived by his parents.
A funeral mass was held at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 2 in the St. Barbara Catholic Church Parish Center with Father Salvador Marquez-Munoz officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home. Burial was in New York.
Visitation was from 9 a.m. until service time, Thursday, Feb. 2 at the Parish Center.

Everene Martin
Mrs. Everene Martin, age 94, resident of Horatio, died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006 in the De Queen Medical Center.
She was born June 7, 1911 in Horatio to George and Rosie Smith Hawkins. She was a retired restaurant cook, housekeeper, as well as a homemaker, a member of the Mt. Phebia Baptist Church of Horatio, where she was a member of the Choir, the Missionary Board, and Treasurer, and the Church Mother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rubin Lee Martin in 1993; and three children, Dorothy Hopson, Kenneth Dale Martin, and Rosie Lee Martin.
She is survived by one son, Samuel Martin of Flint, Mich.; one daughter, Debra Johnson of Horatio; one brother, Melvin Hawkins of Calif.; a nephew; 16 grandchildren, a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5 in the Mt. Phebia Baptist Church with Rev. E.A. Edwards, and Rev. Abraham Loudermill, Jr. officiating. Burial followed in Sunset Acres cemetery, Horatio, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home.
The family received friends at the funeral home from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 4.
