Cornelia Lucille Rehm

Cornelia Lucille Rehm, age 82, resident of De Queen, died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2006 in Sevier Health Care Nursing Center.

She was born October 14, 1923 in Arkadelphia, to John Martin and Missouri Roberts Buck, was a homemaker and Methodist.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Samuel Rehm; one son, Jerry Wayne Rehm; and one granddaughter, Amy Roden Boyd.

She is survived by one son, John M. Rehm of Hardy; three daughters, Sandra Roden of Horatio, Kay Allen of Ben Lomond and Teresa Anderson of Stamps; 21 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Rehm were held at 2 p.m., Friday, Feb. 10 in the Oak Grove cemetery in Alpine with Rev. Jimmy Roden officiating.

The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 9 at the funeral home.

Daniel Harvey Burns

Daniel Harvey Burns, age 73, resident of Mena and former resident of Gillham, died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2006 in a Fort Smith hospital.

He was born Aug. 6, 1932, in the Mineral Community to Robert Newton "Bob" and Ava Ward Burns, was an engineer for the D&E.T.O.;&E.; Railroad for 31 years, retiring in 1994, a member of the First Baptist Church of Gillham, and a member of the UTU Union.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert Vaughn Burns; and a sister, Margaret Hope Vaught.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jo Ann Smith Burns of Mena; one son, Danny Joe Burns of Mena; two daughters, Ava Loucile Brannan of Valliant, Okla. and Tina Ann Weick of Nacagdoches, Texas; seven grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 18 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bob McManus, and the Rev. Jerry Hill officiating. Burial followed in the Mineral cemetery, Gillham.

Visitation was Friday, Feb. 17 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Chandler Funeral Home.

Mary Lucerne Payne

Mary Lucerne Payne, age 86, a resident of Horatio, died Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2006 in the De Queen Medical Center.

She was born May 5, 1919 in Horatio to Hugh and Zana Lawrence Tate Callan, was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church in Horatio, a homemaker, a charter member of Sevier County Historical Society, wrote the "Horatio Happenings" for the De Queen Bee for 57 years, an early member of the Horatio Centennial Garden Club and the last president after the club became State Honorary Club after 62 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, James Robert Payne on December 18, 2005.

She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Friday, Feb. 17 in the First Baptist Church in Horatio with Rev. Coy Arnold officiating. Burial will followed in the Horatio cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

Haskel Pollard

Haskel Pollard, age 72, a resident of Lockesburg, died Sunday, Feb. 12, 2006 in the Christus St. Michael Hospital in Texarkana, Texas.

He was born Nov. 5, 1933 in Watson, Okla. to Jimmy and Ada Webb Pollard and was a timber worker.

He is survived by his wife, Maida Dell Winterowd Pollard; five sons, Tony Pollard of Lockesburg, Lance Pollard of De Queen, Benny Ray Pollard of Mena, Bruce Pollard of Antlers, Okla. and Scott Pollard of De Queen; one daughter, Gaylene Baker of Vandervoort; one sister, Evelyn Pogue of De Queen; one brother, Floyd Pollard of Smithville, Okla.; 18 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 15 in the Watson cemetery in Watson, Okla., with Jerrel Helms officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 14 at the funeral home.

Hubert Edward Baker

Hubert Edward Baker, age 83, a resident of Wickes, died Thursday, Feb. 9, 2006 at his home.

He was born April 18, 1922 in Wickes, was a carpenter, a World War II Army Veteran, and a Christian.

He is survived by his wife, Vera Pinkerton Baker of Wickes; one son, Hubert E. Baker, Jr. of Cleburne, Texas; two daughters, Peggy McLaughlin of Gillham and Jone Roe of Robeline, La.; two sisters, Opal White of Granbury, Texas and Agnes Burris of Drain, Ore.; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 12 in the Wickes Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Chris Burke officiating. Burial followed in the Duckett cemetery in Wickes, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 11, at the funeral home.

Earl Wayne Hooker Jr.

Earl Wayne Hooker Jr. of Fayetteville, formerly of Mena, died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2006 at his home.

He was born April 27, 1958 in Dallas, Texas to the late Earl Wayne Hooker Sr. and Joy Walker Hooker, was a Master Electrician employed by Blair Electric, a member of the First Baptist Church, the Mena Elks Lodge #781, and had worked for several years for HC Walker Construction and A & R Construction.

He is survived by his mother, Joy Hooker of Mena; one son, Brent Hooker of Magnolia; one daughter, Deedra Hooker of Mena; two sisters, Teri Blair of Springdale and Charla Hollin of Mena; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m., Friday, Feb. 10 in the Pleasant Grove cemetery in Cove with the Rev. Kenneth Posey officiating, under the direction of Hall Funeral Home.

The family received friends Thursday, Feb. 9 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Elks Lodge Charitable Funds or to the Rich Mountain Community College Foundation.

Myrtle B. Cogburn

Mrs. Myrtle B. Tipton Cogburn, age 72, a resident of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, died Wednesday, February 8, 2006 at her home.

She was born July 15, 1933 in Allen Reed, Texas to Marvin Tipton and Muriel Bell Dudley. She was a waitress and homemaker.

Mrs. Cogburn was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan Cogburn, and one son, Monty Lee.

She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, David J. George of Broken Bow, Okla. and Mike and Loretta George of Lockesburg; one daughter, Christine Bowden Wigley of Broken Bow, Okla.; two granddaughters, Vanessa Bowden and Ashley Conkleton; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.
