JACKIE SWEETSER

Jackie Ann Sweetser, of Hot Springs, formerly of Fayetteville, died Saturday June 2 2007, at her home. The daughter of Roy B. and Ola Dixon Smith, she was born August 6, l932 in Fayetteville. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Mildred Smith.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years Tom Sweetser, sister Peggy Shuler and husband Frank of Elkins, daughter Bridget Shinn and husband Mikel of Conway, son Tom Sweetser and wife Maren of Aurora, Colorado, daughter Mitzi Henderson and husband Keith of Dover, eight grandchildren; Austin, Nathan, and Hilary Shinn of Conway, Kristine and Anna Sweetser of Aurora, Colorado and Kiersten, Madelyn and Laurel Henderson of Dover. She is also survived by brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jerry and Sharon Sweetser of Fayetteville, a special sister-in-law Polly Shannon of Fayetteville, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Jackie was a member of Grand Avenue Methodist Church. She was devoted to her family and had many interests. She was homeroom mother, Girl Scout leader, member of PTA, and library volunteer. Jackie also enjoyed a career as a real estate broker in Hot Springs. She was a member of the Melting Pot Genealogical Society and the Audobon Society. A devoted grandmother, she never missed a spelling bee, school play, dance recital, band/choir concert, sports event, or graduation.

Honorary pallbearerss are; Mikel Shinn, Keith Henderson, Austin Shinn, and Nathan Shinn.

A special thanks to Dr. Timothy English and staff, Dr. Stephen “Fred” Divers and staff, Wendell Workman and staff and National Park Pharmacy, St. Joseph Hospital fourth floor staff, the “Open Door” Sunday School class and Grand Avenue Methodist Church, and Arkansas Hospice.

A memorial to celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at l0:00 a.m. at Moore’s Chapel in Fayetteville, led by Reverend Donna Alberts of Dover United Methodist Church.

Mary Lee Lawson

Mary Lee Lawson, 63 of Fayetteville, died Sunday, June 3, 2007 at The Circle of Life Hospice Home.

She was born March 15, 1944 in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Floyd and Clara Leimser Thomas. She retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. She was a member of Baptist Ford Community Church.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Forrest A. Lawson

One Son: Keith Arden Lawson and his wife Rebecca of Greenland, AR

One Grandson: Cooper James Lawson of Greenland, AR

One Sister: Dana Gail Laney of West Fork, AR

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at Baptist Ford Church, Burial will be in Baptist Ford cemetery, under the direction of Moore’s Chapel.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00p.m. Tuesday at Moore’s Chapel.

Wanda Lee Bush

Mrs. Wanda Lee Bush, age 72, a resident of Foreman, died Monday, April 17, 2006 at her home.

She was born January 11, 1934 in Panki Bok, Oklahoma to Lee and Willa Mae Raley Ayers. She was a retired secretary for the Foreman School District and a member of the Foreman First Baptist Church.

Mrs. Bush is survived by her husband, Roland Bush of Foreman; and children, Mike and Delores Hess of Foreman, Roger Bush of Marshall, Texas, Carol and Kent Hendrix of Prescott, Ark., Donna and Larry Barber of Shreveport, La., and Carol and Garth Dew of Scotland; one brother, Alvin Ayers of Ashdown, Ark.; one sister, Betty Doak of Texarkana, Ark.; grandchildren, Kari Hess, Kevin Hess, Clayton Hendrix, Eric McFarland, Misty and Alex Alejo, Mary and Bryan Caskey, and Sean McGary; and two special grandchildren, Ashley and Kayla Wood.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles E. Hess, and a granddaughter, Lena Hendrix.

Funeral services for Mrs. Bush were held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 19, 2006 in the Foreman First Baptist Church with Gary and Terry Hess officiating. Burial followed in the Dollarhide cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

Memorials may be made to the Arkansas Children's Hospital, 800 Marshall Street, Little Rock, AR 72202.

Andrea Soto

Mrs. Andrea Martinez Soto, age 66, a resident of Horatio, Ark., died Sunday, April 2, 2006 in the Christus St. Michael Healthcare Center in Texarkana.

She was born June 3, 1939 in Reynosa Tamaulipas, Mexico to Andres Soto and Juana Martinez. She was a homemaker and a member of Fuente de Agua Viva.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Dalia and Martin Camberos of Horatio, Ark.; five sons and three daughters-in-law, Melecio Garcia of Chicago, Illinois, Rodolfo and Gilda Sanchez of Reynosa, Mexico, Pedro and Tonya Gallardo of Waldron, Ark., Amado and Galena Gallardo of De Queen, Ark., Arturo Evans of Horatio; and 16 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, 2006 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Rene Martinez officiating. Burial will follow in Reynosa, Mexico.

Viewing began at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at the funeral home.

Earl Caldwell

Earl James Caldwell, age 81, a resident of De Queen, died Tuesday, April 11, 2006 in De Queen.

He was born Sept. 6, 1924 in Goodwater, Okla. to Charity Beal Williams and Joe William Caldwell, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II and he received a Purple Heart and was a farmer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a step-son, Jerry Ray Waldon; five brothers, Otho Caldwell, Garland Caldwell, David Caldwell, Rufus Caldwell, and Henry Caldwell; three sisters, Lucy Jackson, Florence Farley and Ida Pierce.

He is survived by his wife, Mayme Taylor Waldon Caldwell of De Queen; one brother, Dan Caldwell of De Queen; two sisters, Beulah Hornbeck of Broken Bow, Okla. and Mary Lou Nunn of Eufaula, Okla. and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Thursday, April 13 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. J.L. Walker officiating. Burial followed in the Redmen cemetery.

Elizabeth McGaha

Elizabeth Ann McGaha, age 65, a resident of Stamps, died Wednesday, March 29, 2006 in the Medical Park Hospital in Hope.

She was born Dec. 4, 1940 to Domby and Annie Pannell McGaha.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, William Earl McGaha and one sister, Bonnie Sue McGaha.

She is survived by one sister, Earline Pearl Holbert of Hope and a number of cousins.

Graveside funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Sat., April 1, in the Clearcreek cemetery with Craig Adams officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

Allie Johnson

Mrs. Allie Mae Bunch Johnson, age 93, a resident of Ashdown and former resident of De Queen, died Monday, March 27, 2006 in the Pleasant Manor Nursing Home in Ashdown.

She was born August 28, 1912 in McCurtain County, Okla. to Monroe and Ellen Ralls Bunch, and was a member of the Old Center Holiness Church of Horatio.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Johnny Warren Johnson in 1973.

She is survived by one son, Keith Burt of De Queen and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 29 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Sam Hendricks and Bro. Brandon Burt officiating. Burial will follow in the Avon cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 28.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Old Center Church.
