Nona Marie (Chambers) Haggard
Nona Marie (Chambers) Haggard, age 56, a Dierks, Ark. area resident and former longtime Atoka, Okla. area resident passed away Thursday, June 8, 2006 at Idabel, Okla.
She was born on April 13, 1950 at Umpire, Ark. to Lonnie Mack and Lora Lee (Strasner) Chambers. She attended schools in Dierks, Ark., Leavenworth, Wash., and Atoka, Okla. as well as SOSU in Durant, Okla.
Nona married
Joe Haggard on July 16, 1969 at Atoka, Okla. She worked as a caregiver and home health provider and was a longtime member of the Harmony Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lon and Lora Chambers, and a daughter, Krissi Jo Haggard.
She is survived by a daughter, Dusty King and husband Jeff, of Howe, Texas; two granddaughters: Landrey and Lawsyn King of Howe, Texas; a brother, Mack Chambers and wife Shirley, of Pine Bluff, Ark.; five sisters: Charlotte Wilson of Dierks, Judy Walters of Dierks, Helen Justus and husband Dward, of Atoka, Diane Ford and husband Elvin, of Atoka, and Brenda Workman and husband Frank, of Atoka; nieces and nephews: Kelly Walker and husband Kyle, Denise Campbell and husband Charlie, Misty Street and husband Mike, James Wilson and wife Leslie, Johnny Wilson, Brent Justus and wife Leslie, Todd Ford and wife Courtney, Carla Cook and husband John, Shannon Kennedy and husband Bryan, Angie Stephens and husband Mike, Marty Viefhaus and husband Craig, Crystal Cathey and husband Brian, Nikki Ford, Lance Walters and wife Christina; along with numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and many dear and loved friends.
Funeral services were held Sunday, June 11, 2006 at 2 p.m. in Brown's Chapel with Dr. James Crowson officiating and interment was in Green Meadows cemetery under the direction of Brown's Funeral Service, Atoka, Okla. Casketbearers were James Wilson, Johnny Wilson, Brent Justus, Todd Ford, Lance Walters and Clifford Brown. Honorary casketbearers were Kyle Walker, John Cook, Bryan Kennedy, Brian Cathey, Jakus White, Don Rippee, and Donnie Golden.
Family night was Saturday, June 10, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Floy Lee Monroe
Mrs. Floy Lee (Gore) Webb Monroe, age 93, a resident of De Queen, died Monday, June 12, 2006 at her home.
She was born July 22, 1912 in Scurry-Rosser, Texas to W. and Lena Gore, was a seamstress, sales clerk, and a member of the First Baptist Church in De Queen.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Tillman O. Webb Sr. and Luther D. Monroe; and one son, Tillman O. Webb Jr.
She is survived by one son, Mike Webb of El Paso, Texas; two grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, June 16 in the Old Center cemetery with Rev. Coy Arnold officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, June 15 at the funeral home.
Paul Loyd Jr.
Paul Loyd Jr., age 84, a resident of Plunketville, Okla. died Friday, June 9, 2006 at his home.
He was born January 23, 1922 in Little Rock to Paul Loyd Sr. and Rachel Bell Loyd, served four years in the United States Navy during World War II, was the owner and operator of a service station in Wenatchee, Wash., retired from Tyson in 1987, a Chaplain of American Legion, Ross Tunnell Post #249, and attended Pleasant Grove Church of the Nazarene in Cove.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, A.P. Loyd; and an infant son, Donald Ray Loyd.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Loyd of Plunketville, Okla.; one son, Dennis Loyd of Hooks, Texas; one daughter, Janice Dusseldorp of Perth, Australia; two brothers, Leon Loyd of Wickes and Freddie Loyd of Grannis; two sisters, Violet Baker and Lois Jones, both of Grannis; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two step grandchildren; one step great-grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 12 at 2 p.m. in the Wickes Church of the Nazarene with Bro. Chris Burke and Pastor Vern Hatton officiating. Burial followed in the Baker cemetery, under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.
Ronnie Edward Turnbough, Sr.
Ronnie (Ralo) Turnbough was called to come home on June 3, 2006 at the age of 43.
He was born March 22, 1963 in De Queen, Ark., was a resident of Grannis, Ark. and a truck driver for Elbac Trucking.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, liked fishing and hunting, and was a very devoted father.
He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Lester Turnbough, his mother, Elizabeth Alameda Hemphill Turnbough, and a stepdaughter, Melissa Ballew.
He is survived by his wife, Bertha Turnbough; his two sons, Ronnie Turnbough Jr. and Austin Turnbough; seven stepchildren: Nancy and John Walls, Richard and Wendy Ballew, Michael and Heather Ballew, Amanda Carmichael, Rebecca and Craig Smith, Terra Ballew, and Adam Ballew; one sister, Emma Rose Bell of Wickes, her husband, Wayne, their children and grandchildren; two brothers, James Turnbough of Wickes, his wife, Cindy, their children and grandchildren, and Wesley Turnbough of Hatton, his wife Beverly, their children and grandchildren; 18 grandchildren, Dustin and C.J. Ballew, Brandon and Jacob Walls, Dylan Carmichael, James and Brandon Smith, Kaleb Webb, Allisa Ballew, Gary Czarnetzski, Ashley Ballew, Caleb Lovell, Creg, Cory and Nicholas Ballew, Dylan and Hunter Vanhoose, and Garrett Sullivan; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Mr. Turnbough was sent for cremation under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home in Mena, Ark. A memorial service for Ronnie was held on Saturday, June 17 at 1:00 p.m. at the Hatton Baptist Church in Hatton, Ark., with Brother Harold Davis officiating.
Ronnie's final resting place will be in Baker cemetery in Wickes, Ark. with his parents.
Lewis Stubbs Jr.
Lewis Richard Stubbs Jr., age 72, a resident of Branford, Fla., died Friday, June 23, 2006 in the Lake City Medical Center, Lake City, Fla.
He was retired from the Air Force, a member of the American Legion Post #400, and a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Charlene Ball Stubbs.
He is survived by two daughters, Dona Lynn Skaggs of Branford, Fla. and Lisa Annette Winklepleck of Tampa, Fla.; one son, Richard Gilbert Stubbs of Tampa, Fla.; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services with full military honors were held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 30 at Florida National cemetery with Bob Fletcher officiating, under the direction of Daniels Funeral Home of Bransford, Fla.
Eunice Sullivan
Eunice Sullivan, age 81, resident of Mena, died Sunday, June 4, 2006.
She was born June 11, 1924 in San Antonio, Texas to Jesse and Dillie Lumpkin Cook; and was a member of Bethel Assembly of God in Rapid City, SD.
She is survived by four sons, Harley Sullivan of Mena, Jesse Sullivan of Wickes, Marion Sullivan of Oconomouc, Wisc., and Billy Sullivan of De Queen; one daughter, Yvonne Bradford of Glenham, SD; 15 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 7 in Baker Rock Church in Wickes with Bro. Billy Sullivan, Bro. Byron Sullivan and Bro. Tom Hunter officiating. Interment followed in Baker cemetery under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.

Vernon Ben Stokes
Vernon Ben Stokes, age 83, a resident of Dierks, died Tuesday, June 13, 2006 in Hot Springs.
He was born Sept. 10, 1922 in Dierks to Buck and Florence Greenhaw Stokes, was a millwright for Weyerhaeuser and Dierks Lumber, a World War II Army veteran, and a member of Holly Creek Missionary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, and four sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Quinn Marie Mathis Stokes of Dierks; one son, Ronnie Stokes of Tulsa, Okla.; one daughter, Donna Daniels of New Hope; one sister, Olene Efird of Dierks; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Thursday, June 15 in the Holly Creek Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Driggers and Rev. Larry Allbritton officiating. Burial followed in the Fellowship cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, June 14 at the funeral home in Dierks.
