Wilda Mae Kirby
Wilda Mae Kirby of Dierks, Ark. died Monday, September 18, 2006. Although her battle with Parkinson and Alzheimer's was long she never lost her sense of humor, love for the Sunday singings and her daughters' weekly (chocolate) visits.
Wilda was born on December 4, 1925 in Konawa, Okla. to Clarence and Nina Jackson. At the age of 16 she remembered her birthday being shattered a few days later when Pearl Harbor was bombed. She was married
to Virgil Kirby of Dierks on March 25, 1944. The pretty blonde hair blue eyed lady was always the light of his life and in his last days he became an amazing care taker for her.
Virgil preceded her in death. He died on July 4, 2004. Now they both are at peace together again at last. In all their 60 years of marriage they never spent a night apart. They worked side by side in the stores they owned in Dierks and Nashville. Wilda was always by his side either fishing, driving a horse trailer for him to a horse show or tapping her feet to the beautiful music of the band where Virgil played bass. After their girls left home, you would find them sitting side by side at the morning service at Holly Creek Baptist Church. Her family (especially her girls) think of her as an angel and a saint. Always there to serve others and make them happy. Wilda had four brothers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Nina and her beloved brother, Wilbur Jackson.
Her three surviving brothers are Carmen Jackson of Glenwood, Ark., Wendall Jackson of Hot Springs, Ark. and Charles Jackson of Fayetteville, Ark.; six nieces and five nephews. Her nickname was Mace or Mazie given to her by a brother and a nephew. With a kind and gentle hand she cared for her daughters and instilled in them true love of God and family.
She is survived by Linda Croy and husband, Jim, of Bentonville, Carol Nicol and husband, Richard, of North Little Rock, Donna Miller and husband, Doug, of Royce City, Texas and Melissa Wesley of Little Rock; grandchildren Kristin Tibbett and husband, Luke, of Maumelle, Heather Burnett of Austin, Texas, Rebecca Johnson and husband Mason of Springdale, Ark.; Jason Burnett of Little Rock, Ark., Brian Miller and Richard Miller of Dallas, Texas, Megan and Logan Wesley of New York.
