Edna Lavern Dellinger
Mrs. Edna Lavern Dellinger, age 65, resident of De Queen, died Monday, July 11, 2005 in Sevier HealthCare Nursing Center.
She was born May 15, 1940 in South Prong, Tex., to Jessie Reuben and Edna Fuller Deal; was a homemaker; and a member of Falls Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, D.D. Dellinger; and a daughter, Deann Simmons.
She is survived by three daughters, Ruth Brewer of Lockesburg, Nancy Lynn Anderson of Haughton, La., and Carol Tacy of Hot Springs; one sister, Linda Kreider of Hot Springs Village; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 13 in Falls Chapel cemetery with Verl Stovall and Jimmy Roden officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 12 at the funeral home.
Amalene Burnett
Amalene Burnett, age 90, died July 23, 2005 in Oklahoma City, Okla.
She was born Aug. 17, 1914 in De Queen to Thurman and Fanny Gore.
She is survived by a daughter, Ruth Walker.
Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 26 in Millwee cemetery in De Queen, under the direction of Smith & Kernke Funeral Home.
Carl Ray Wooden
Carl Ray Wooden, age 62, resident of Mena and formerly of Lockesburg, died Monday, July 11, 2005 in Mena.
He was born April 28, 1943 in Doyline, La. to the late Gora Marcus and Dola Lucille Booher Wooden; served in the Air Force Reserves; was a retired pulp mill operator for Ashdown Paper Mill; and was a member of Rock Hill Baptist Church in Lockesburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby Wooden of Mena; two sons, Donnie Wooden and Dwight Wooden, both of Lockesburg; one daughter, Jennifer Caple of Greenwood; three brothers, T.L. Wooden of Princeton, La., Doyle Wooden of Houston, Tex., and Douglas Wooden of Louisiana; five sisters, Bobbie Wooden of Oklahoma City, Okla., Tommie Barnes of De Queen, Margaret Gray of Spokane, Wash., Patricia Parker of Waxahachie, Tex., and June Johnson of West Monroe, La.
Mr. Wooden was sent for cremation. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 15 in the Hall Memorial Chapel at Mena with Bro. John Henry Williams officiating.
Iona Mary Munn
Iona Mary Hendrix Munn, age 88, resident of De Queen, died Saturday, Oct. 8, 2005 in De Queen Medical Center.
She was born July 13, 1917 in Arkansas to James E. and Ruthie Van Trees Hendrix; and was a homemaker.
She is survived by two sons, Sammy Hendrix of De Queen and Glenn Munn of San Antonio, Tex.; two daughters, Patricia Nemeth of Madison, Ind., and Priscilla Saelim of Broken Bow, Okla.; one brother, Pete Hendrix of De Queen; 13 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11 in Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Van Ledbetter, minister, officiating. Burial followed in Redmen cemetery.
The family received friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 10 at the funeral home.
William M. Sharp
William M. Sharp, age 72, resident of Mt. Carmel community, died Sunday, Sept. 18, 2005 in a Texarkana hospital.
He was born March 4, 1933 in Kolbtown to James W. and Gracie Hughes Murphy; was a retired truck driver; and a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, James Murphy; and his adopted-father, Robert Sharp.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Parker Sharp of Dierks; two sons, Kevin Bowman of Moore, Okla., and Keith Bowman of Ladson, SC; two daughters, Julie Bowman and Tiawana Rouse, both of Dierks; his mother, Gracie Sharp of Dierks; one sister, Velron Young of New Hope; three half-sisters, Ruby Rohrbaugh, Francis Jones and Robbie Higgins; four grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21 in Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with Bro. Calvin Parker and Bro. John W. Gilbert officiating. Burial followed in Sunshine cemetery, under the direction of Nashville Funeral Home.
The family received friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20 at the funeral home.
Loel Phillips
Mr. Loel Phillips, age 83 a resident of Lockesburg, died Monday, September 19, 2005 in the Little River Nursing Home in Ashdown.
He was born November 17, 1921 to Floyd and Pearl Phillips. He was a retired volunteer firefighter for the Lockesburg Fire Department, a rural mail carrier for 46 years, and rancher. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lockesburg, was a Mason and song leader in church for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Alice Bizzell, and his twin brother, Oael.
He is survived by his wife, Rosa Lee Phillips; a daughter and son-in-law, Rose Anne and Jerrel Helms; one grandson, Brent Helms; one granddaughter, Scarlette Helms, and one great-granddaughter, Autumn Helms, all of Lockesburg; two sisters, Ollie Jean Nettles of Texarkana, Texas, and Earle Davis of Tulsa, Okla.; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services for Mr. Phillips were held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 21, 2005 in the Oddfellows cemetery in Lockesburg, with Rev. Wesley Blankenship officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
Delbert Wester Wax
Delbert Wester Wax, age 92, resident of Gillham, died Saturday, Sept. 24, 2005 in Brookewood Nursing Center.
He was born Dec. 14, 1912 in Howe, Tex., to Charlie Evert and Mattie Ethel Gurley Wax; was a Baptist; a Mason; and a Navy veteran of World War II having served in the Pacific on the aircraft carrier U.S. Hancock. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; five brothers; and one daughter.
He is survived by his wife, Irene Cooper Wax of Gillham; three sons, James Terry Wax of Gillham, William Thomas Wax of Missouri and Delbert Wax Jr. of Fayetteville; one daughter, Susan Byrd of Redfield; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27 in Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry Taylor officiating. Burial followed in Gillham cemetery.
The family received friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26 at the funeral home.
Frieda Paetzell
Frieda Paetzell, age 94, resident of De Queen, died Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2005 in De Queen Medical Center.
She was born May 26, 1911 in New York City, NY, to Otto Pathe and Veronika Karl; and was a housekeeper for De Queen General Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Paetzell Sr.; and two sons, Allen Paetzell and Raymond Paetzell Jr.
She is survived by one sister, Mary Weaver of Upper Black Eddy, Penn.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
