Nancy Rans
Mrs. Nancy Ann Whitaker Rans, age 72, a resident of Horatio, died Saturday, June 10, 2006 at her home.
She was born March 9, 1934 in Hennypen, Okla. to Hershel Ernest and Mary Mae Bozarth Whitaker, was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving with the U.S. Air Force, owner of RANCO Inc. of Horatio and a member of Unity Church of Little Rock.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Hershel E. Whitaker Jr.; six sisters, Wanda Joy Henry, Patricia Gaylord, Ella Joyce Spriggs, Ruth Kellums, Jean Stephens, Mary Mae Leatherman; and her husband, Alan Rans.
She is survived by one son, Kurt Goodell of Little Rock; one daughter, Suni Ann McCarthy of North Little Rock; one brother, John Whitaker of De Queen; one sister, Helen Vick of Horatio, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 13 in the Redmen cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home.
The family received friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, June 12.
Tim Langlois Sr.
Timothy James Langlois Sr., age 64, a resident of De Queen, died Wednesday, June 14, 2006 in the Christus St. Michael Health System.
He was born Jan. 22, 1942 in Madison, Wisc. to Orville and Bessie Sturdevant Langlois, and was a retired truck driver.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Delores Patterson in 1996.
He is survived by his wife, Katherine Sample Langlois of De Queen; two sons, Tim Langlois of De Queen and Kevin Langlois of Horatio; three daughters, Kristi Lambert of Dierks, Kari Rachel and Lori Taddonio, both of Arlington, Texas; one brother, Daniel Langlois of Yuba City, Calif.; two sisters, Carol Pannell of Yuba City, Calif., and Mary Hueitt of Modesto, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 17 in Redmen cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home.
The family received friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, June 16.
Floyd "Rooster" Killian
Floyd "Rooster" Killian, age 93, a resident of Dierks, died Saturday, June 24, 2006 at his home.
He was born Feb. 27, 1913 in Dierks to David C. and Ada Bell Dyer Killian, was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church and a self-employed cattle and land buyer.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Killian; a brother, Eddie Killian; a sister, Mettie Canaday; a nephew, Eddie Killian Jr.; and a niece Shirley Canaday Boatright.
He is survived by two nephews.
Graveside funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 27 in the Fellowship cemetery with Bro. Gary Welch officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 26 at the funeral home.
Cleo Brown Williamson
Mrs. Cleo Brown Williamson, age 87, a resident of Cerro Gordo, died Monday, June 26, 2006 at her home.
She was born on Feb. 8, 1919 to George and Beulah Brown, was a retired schoolteacher for the Foreman School District and a charter member of State Line Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Herman Williamson of Cerro Gordo; one son, Jerry Williamson of Texarkana; one daughter, Marsha Moffett of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 28 at the State Line Baptist Church with Bro. Roy Brooks, Bro. Larry Hobbs and Bro. Gerry Taylor officiating. Burial followed in the Cerro Gordo cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
The family received friends from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.
Frank Pickett
Frank Pickett, age 54, resident of Nashville, died Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2005 in Laramie, Wyo.
He was born Oct. 14, 1950 at De Queen to the late Claude and Fannie Russell Pickett; was a truck driver for SRT; and a Baptist. He was preceded in death by his sister, Sue Sherck.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Pickett of Nashville; one son, Chris Pickett of Oberlin, Oh.; one sister, Sheila Mendez of Wake Village, Tex.; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23 in Old Union Church at Lockesburg with Wes Blankenship officiating. Burial followed in Old Union cemetery under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home, Nashville.
Memorial may be made to Old Union cemetery.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22 at the funeral home.
Walter Lelan Wester
Mr. Walter Lelan Wester, age 68, resident of Gillham, Ark., died Tuesday, August 2, 2005 at his home.
He was born to Walter Levi and Jessie Henrietta Jones Wester at Copeville, Texas, on October 24, 1936.
He served in the military with the U. S. Navy, and was a retired poultry farmer for Tyson. He enjoyed music and reading.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
W. L. is survived by one brother, Emmett Lee Wester of Jacksonville, Fla.; three sisters, Mary Frances Wester Lee of De Queen, Kimberly Ann Wester Haynes of De Queen, and Vickie Bell Wester Savage of Antlers, Okla.; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home. A memorial service was held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 5, 2005 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with President Tom Griffin officiating.
Winnie Marie Mabry
Mrs. Winnie Marie Mabry, age 84, resident of Tyler, Tex., died Monday, Aug. 22, 2005.
She was born on Friday, March 4, 1921 to Samuel and Ardella Foster Thompson; and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Harold Mabry; one brother, Edgar Thompson; and two sisters, Ruby Garmmon and Burnyna Gruwell.
She is survived by one son, Steven Mabry of Tyler, Tex.; one brother, Foster Thompson; four sisters, Velliah Edmiston of Alabama Velma Higgins of Texarkana, Tex., Elizabeth Dale of Oregon, and Rachael Roebuck of Nash, Tex.; two grandsons; three great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2005 in Avon cemetery with Paul Hillier, minister officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home, De Queen.
