Emmett Lee Wester
Emmett Lee Wester, age 89, a resident of Horatio, died Friday, Jan. 13, 2006 at his home.
He was born April 2, 1916 in Dallas, Tex. to John and Addie Bell Laird Wester. He was retired from the Santa Fe Railroad and was a U.S. Army Paratrooper during World War II.
He is survived by one daughter, Gayle Johnson of Flowery Branch, Ga; three sons, Doyle Wester and Ronnie Wester, both of Horatio, and David Wester of Mineral Springs; 10 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Monday, Jan. 16 in the Millwee cemetery with Rev. J.L. Walker officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 15, at the funeral home.
Kathryn Shelly Hale
Kathryn Shelly Hale, age 93, resident of Arlington, Tex., died Saturday, Dec. 31, 2005 in Arlington.
She was born Dec. 4, 1912 in Lockesburg to Jasper and Mamie Zachry Shelly; was a homemaker; and a member of Eastern Hills United Methodist Church in Arlington. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Rev. Kervin A. Hale.
She is survived by one son, Don R. Hale of Arlington, Tex.; one granddaughter; one great-granddaughter; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2006 in Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Rockey Starnes and Rev. Dr. Stephen Hale officiating. Burial followed in the Coulter addition of Lockesburg cemetery.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3 at the funeral home.
Don Raymond Wagnon
Don Raymond Wagnon, age 77, died Tuesday, January 3, 2006 at Arlington Memorial Hospital in Arlington, Texas.
He was born on September 13, 1928 in Norphlet, Ark. to Edgar M. Wagnon and Ozella Hankins Wagnon.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Mildred Luttrell, Marie Crenshaw, and Wanda Churchman.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Enola Churchman Wagnon; two daughters: Dondi Wagnon of Arlington, Texas and Anita Sims and husband, Byron, of Mansfield, Texas; two grandchildren: Joshua Sims and Summer Sims; one brother, Arlis (Bubby) Wagnon of Golden, Okla.; two sisters-in-law: Jo Ann Jarrell and husband, Jerry, of De Queen and Golda Peer of Miami, Fla.; and one brother-in-law, Paul Churchman of Forrest, Miss. He is also survived by several beloved nieces and nephews.
Mr. Wagnon grew up in Willis Springs, Okla. and graduated from Eagletown, Okla. He was an Air Force World War II Veteran. He spent most of his adult life as a self-employed businessman. He loved keeping his garden, fishing and hunting, and frying fish for others to enjoy. Most of all he loved his family and friends.
Services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2006 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Tony Bob Ray officiating. Burial followed in the Valley cemetery.
The family received friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 4 at the funeral home.

Jack Wallace Bunyard
Jack Wallace Bunyard, 79, of De Queen died Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2006 at his home. He was born in Morrilton, Ark. Oct. 29, 1926. He was a retired fireman with the De Queen Fire Department with 25 years of service.
He was a veteran of the Merchant Marines during World War II and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Bunyard was retired from ALLTEL after a 37-year career in the telephone industry. He started his career with the De Queen Telephone Company and later with Allied Telephone. He was responsible for maintaining De Queen's telephone equipment after dial telephones replaced the old operated-assisted phone system.
He was a deacon in the First Baptist Church and was a member of the De Queen Lions Club. His hobbies included working and spending time with his six grandsons.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 26, at First Baptist Church of De Queen with Rev. Faron Rogers officiating.
Burial followed in Redmen cemetery under direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home. Pallbearers were members of the Paul-Timothy Sunday school class of First Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Anne Bunyard; three sons and their wives, Jay and Teresa Bunyard and Jon and Sonya Bunyard, all of De Queen; and Joel and Melinda Bunyard of Cochran, Canada; six grandsons, Jacob Bunyard, Joseph Bunyard, Michael Monroy, John David Bunyard, James Bunyard and Jack Bunyard; one sister, Catherine Riggle of Valdosta, Ga.; one brother, Wayne Bunyard of Gainesville, Texas; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund.
William Fredrick “Bill” Huston
William Fredrick “Bill” Huston, age 76, a resident of De Queen, died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2006 in Booker, Texas.
He was born September 7, 1929 in Decatur, Ind., to William Henry and Marie Hilton Huston; was a security guard for Pilgrims Pride; a U.S. Army veteran; and a member of the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Francis Thatcher; two grandsons and one great-granddaughter.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lois McAnelly Huston; four sons, David Huston of Broken Bow, Okla., Steven Huston of Perryton, Tex., Randy Huston of De Queen, and Michael Huston of Cartwright, Okla.; three daughters, Cheryl Huston and Susan McGuffin, both of De Queen, and Kathy Parr of New Boston, Tex.; one brother, Albert Huston of Rockford, Ind.; 17 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, Jan. 6 in Redmen cemetery with Charles Ligon officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
The family received friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 5.
Conway Robinson
Conway Robinson, age 84, resident of Fayetteville, died Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2006.
He was born April 5, 1921 in Baltimore, Md., to Conway and Jane Dorsey Robinson; began his writing career as a reporter in Annapolis; was the Farm Director at WBAL (Baltimore) where he developed his own programs for radio and television; published two books; contributed many stories to the Farmer’s Almanac, newspapers, magazines and television programs; then served as Public Information Officer for the Maryland State Comptrollers office, from which he retired in 1978.
He is survived by his wife, Corinne Bollinger Robinson of Fayetteville; a daughter, Rita Massey Vail; a sister, Margot Robinson Hochmuth; four granddaughters; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28 in St. Paul’s Episcopal in Fayetteville. Ashes will be interred at Eureka Springs cemetery at a later date. Cremation was by Moore’s Chapel.

Joshua Overturf
Joshua Oren Wade Overturf, age 23, a resident of De Queen, died Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2006 at his home.
He was born November 8, 1982 in De Queen to Edgar Lee Overturf and Mary Myers Overturf. He was preceded in death by his father.
He is survived by his mother and step-father, Mary and John Overturf of De Queen; two brothers, Edgar Lee Overturf, Jr. of De Queen and Jerald Cooper of Winthrop; one sister, Miriam Martin of De Queen; his grandfather, Ed Overturf of Gillham; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 14, in the Overturf cemetery with Rev. Alfred Thomas officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
The family received friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, Jan. 13, at the funeral home.
