Maxine Firm
Mrs. Maxine Firm, age 75, resident of De Queen, died Sunday, June 15, 2003 in Baylor Medical Center at Dallas, Tex.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 21 in First United Methodist Church in Prescott.
She was born May 15, 1928 in Prescott or Oren M. White and Alta Gertrude Hart White. She was predeceased by a brother, James E. White of Florida.
She is survived by her husband, Harvey A. Firm of De Queen; three sons, Ronnie Hicks of Willisville, Kenny Hicks and Jerry Bo Hicks, both of Magnolia; one daughter, Patsy Di Giovanna of Temecula, Calif.; two brothers, Bob M. White of Siloam Springs and Joe C. White of Dolores, Co.; one sister, Rosemary Allen of Prescott; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Stella Mae Hile
Stella Mae Hile, age 73, resident of Dierks, died Sunday, June 15, 2003 in Dierks.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 17 in Fellowship Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Welch officiating. Burial followed in Fellowship cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.
She was born Jan. 18, 1930 in Harper Springs Logging Camp near Dierks to Omer Earl and Hattie Adaline Lockeby Wilson; was a homemaker; and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. She was pre-deceased by her parents; two sons, Carol David Hile and William Earl Hile; three brothers, Grover Wilson, H.C. Wilson and Alfious Wilson; and one sister, Lorene Kesterson.
She is survived by two sons, Charles Hile of Taylor and Travis Hile of Dierks; three daughters, Frances Brakeville of De Queen, Thelma Cogburn and Allie Oaks, both of Dierks; one sister, Pearl Wagoner of Valley View, Tex.; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 16 at the funeral home in Dierks. Family and friends will visit at the home of Daniel and Mandy Cogburn in Dierks after the service.
Curtis Woodrow Emerson
Woody was born to John and Bessie Emerson on February 22, 1922 in De Queen, Ark. He died June 7, 2003 in Tacoma, Wash. He was predeceased by two brothers, Sonny and Charles.
Funeral services, with full military honors, were held Friday, June 13 in The Valley Chapel by the Mt. View Funeral Home. Interment was in Mt. View Memorial Park.
Woody is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Corinne; four daughters: Connie, Jan, Darlene and Pat, all of Tacoma, Wash.; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; three brothers: Archie of Texarkana, John of Coos Bay, Ore., and Stanley of Palm Harbor, Fla.; and four sisters: Frances and Delia of Texarkana, Bessie of Stanwood, Wash., and Lynda of Horatio, Ark.
Woody served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a switchman for The Bur-lington Northern Railroad and retired as yardmaster after 37 years.
Woody loved his Lord, his family, gardening and the Mariners.
Diann Price
Diann Butler Price, age 45, of Aubrey, Texas, passed away February 11, 2003 at her home.
Diann was born on December 25, 1957 to Wilbur Lawrence and Billie Ruth Butler in Dallas County, Texas.
She is survived by her husband: Steve Price; her children: Caleb, Zachary and Cole Lane, along with her stepsons Jeff and Robbie Price; her parents: Wilbur and Billie Butler of Frisco, Texas; three sisters: Sheila Wolfe of Little Elm, Texas, Gail Dansbury of Van Alystine, Texas, and Teresa White of Lewisville, Texas; her brother: Matthew of Stephenville, Texas; her uncle: Jerry Sam Butler of Horatio, Arkansas; two aunts: Glenda Sims of De Queen, Arkansas and Greta McGowen of Broken Bow, Oklahoma; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews who loved her.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Mary Youngblood Butler and W. L. Bud and Martha Butler of De Queen, Arkansas.
Diann never met a stranger and we will all miss her joy for life. She will be remembered as a devoted mother, loving daughter and sister, and a caring wife.
A memorial service was held Saturday, February 15, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Little Elm, Texas with Marc Farnell officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Diann to "Friends of the Family" in Denton, Texas.
Esther Lambeth
Mrs. Esther Fay Brewer Lambeth, age 76, resident of De Queen died Monday, February 3, 2003 in Brookewood Nursing Center.
She was born to Sherman William and Lena Poag Brewer on June 17, 1926.
Mrs. Lambeth was a member of the Old Time Missionary Baptist Church and was a homemaker. She enjoyed scrapbooking and crafts and her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband L. D. Lambeth in October of 1991.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law: J. W. and Dorothy Roberts of Mena, Arkansas; one daughter and son-in-law: Pat and Paul Minor of De Queen; six grandchildren: P. J. Minor and Danielle Minor, both of De Queen, Linda Ford of Gainesville, Texas, Johnny Roberts of Sherman, Texas, Trey Dick of Gainesville, Texas, and Melinda Mays of Lake Kiowa, Texas; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Esther Lambeth were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2003 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Faron Rogers officiating. Burial followed in the Chapel Hill cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family was at the home of Paul and Pat Minor, 102 Old Senior Road (Plantation Lakes), De Queen.
Marie Wynn James
Mrs. Marie Wynn James, age 92, of Conway, Arkansas, and a longtime resident of Little Rock, died Thursday, February 6, 2003 in the Conway Regional Medical Center.
She was born on January 29, 1911 in Howard County, Arkansas to John T. and Lucy L. Watson Wynn. She was a homemaker. While living in Little Rock she attended the Temple Baptist Church. After moving to Conway, she and husband Denzil, who preceded her in death in 1986, attended Central Baptist Church.
Mrs. James is survived by three sons: Lynn James of Arlington, Texas, Ferrel James of Conway, Arkansas and Randall James of Beebe, Arkansas; six grandchildren: Mark James of Arlington, Texas, Adrian James of Little Rock, Arkansas, Stephanie Snelson of Beebe, Nicholas James of Beebe, David Barnwell of Kokomo, Indiana and Shannon Belanger of Keller, Texas; five great-grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. James were held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 10, 2003 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in Dierks with Rev. Loy Westbrook officiating. Burial will follow in the Wynn cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Wynn cemetery fund: C/0 1st National Bank of Howard County in Dierks.
Visitation was held Saturday, February 8 and Sunday, February 9, at the funeral chapel in Dierks.
Zada Geraldine Martin
Mrs. Zada Geraldine "Jerry" Spicer Martin, age 71, resident of Shreveport, La., died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003 at her home.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8 in Osborn Funeral Home Chapel with Nick Davis officiating. Interment followed in Forest Park cemetery.
She was a native of De Queen; and a member of First Baptist Church of Shreveport and the Bible Study Fellowship. She was predeceased by her father, Sterling James Spicer Sr. and her mother, Wadena True Watkins Spicer; and a brother, Sterling James Spicer Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Edwin Ross Martin of Shreveport, La.; two daughters, Cynthia Roy and Deborah Lynn Morrison, both of Shreveport, La.; and five grandchildren.
The family received visitors Friday, Feb. 7 from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or the American Cancer Society.
Lucille Harrison
Mrs. Lucille Crawford Harris-on, age 90, resident of De Queen, died Friday, Feb. 7, 2003 in Christus St. Michael Health Center at Texarkana.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 10 in Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. J.L. Walker officiating. Burial followed in Ben Lomond cemetery.
She was born Oct. 21, 1912 in Ben Lomond to George and Sudie Mize Crawford; and was a beauty shop operator for 60 years. She was predeceased by her husband, R.L. Harrison, on May 9, 1997; six brothers, Mize Crawford, Thomas Crawford, George Thomas Crawford Jr., James Robert Crawford, Kenneth Dale Crawford and Jerry Wayne Crawford; and one sister, Nina Lou Bernard McDonald.
She is survived by one daughter, Myra Lynn Ananian of Glendale, Calif.; three brothers, Donald Crawford of Mineral Springs, Mack Crawford of Dover, Del., and Barney Crawford of Greenville, Tex.; one sister, Lorena McKee of Ashdown; and two grandchildren.
The family received friends from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
