Altha Lee Carlton

Mrs. Altha Lee Houser Carlton, age 71, resident of Mineral Springs, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2003 in Texarkana, Tex.

She was born April 15, 1933 in Lockesburg to Ellis and Elsie Baber Houser; was a seamstress; a waitress; and a member of First United Methodist Church in Mineral Springs. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one grandson, Richard Grant Compton.

She is survived by her husband, Arthur Carlton; one son, Reggie Hughes of Lockesburg; one stepson, Gary Carlton of Vienna, Ill.; one daughter, Loretta Ann Trussell of Montevallo, Ala.; two stepdaughters, Sherry Ebarb of Ben Wheeler, Tex., and Brenda Skannel of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; one bother, Glen Houser of Texarkana; two sisters, Leoda Barrett of Ashdown and Billie Wolfe of Houston, Tex.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18 in Wrights Chapel cemetery with Rev. Terry Mills officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

The family received friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 17 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Denver Stapp

Mrs. Denver Blackwood Stapp, age 71, resident of Dierks, died Saturday, Dec. 25, 2004 in De Queen Regional Medical Center.

She was born Oct. 23, 1933 in Crossett to Butler and Annie bell Lindsey Blackwood; and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband, Barney “Bob” Stapp; three sons, Mark Stapp, Ronald Stapp and Rodney Stapp, all of Dierks; one brother, Carl Blackwood of Dierks; two grandchildren; three great-granddaughters; and one nephews.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28 in Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in Dierks with Rev. Larry Albritton officiating. Burial followed in Blackwood cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27 at the funeral home.

Pauline Klitz Ayers

Mrs. Pauline Klitz Ayers, age 85, a resident of Horatio, Ark. died Thursday, August 17, 2006 in Texarkana, Ark.

She was born July 24, 1921 in Little River County to Henry and Minnie Klitz. She was a homemaker and owner/operator, along with her husband, of Ayers' Ice, Gas and Grocery in Horatio, Ark., and a member of the Horatio First Baptist Church.

Mrs. Ayers was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Roy Samuel Ayers on January 30, 1985, and one son, Larry Samuel Ayers on August 14, 1966.

She is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Elmer and Joy Ayers of Foreman, Ark., Ronnie and Stephanie Ayers of Arkinda, and Jerry Ayers of Texarkana, Ark.; one daughter and son-in-law, Wanda Ayers Bishop and Billy Bishop of De Queen; seven grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, 17 step great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and seven step great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ayers were held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 21, 2006 in the Horatio First Baptist Church with Rev. J.L. Walker officiating. Burial followed in the Horatio cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

The family received friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, August 20, at the funeral home.

Ernesto Munoz

Ernesto Munoz Lopez, age 22, a resident of De Queen, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2006.

He was born to Cenorino Munoz Rios and Balbina Lopez Alcocer in Ixcamilpa de Gro, Puebla, Mexico, was an employee of Pilgrim's Pride, a member of the Puebla soccer team, and was a Catholic.

He was preceded in death by his father.

He is survived by his mother, Balbina Lopez Alcocer of Ixcamilpa, Mexico; two brothers, Julio Cesar Munoz of New York City, N.Y. and Leobardo Munoz of De Queen; three sisters, Ambrosia Alvardo of Springdale, Teresa Munoz of De Queen and Maribel Lopez of Ixcamilpa, Mexico; his grandparents, Isauro Lopez and Delfina Alcocer of Mexico.

A funeral Mass will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21 in St. Barbara's Catholic Church with Padre Salvador Marquez officiating. A Rosary will be held at 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Mexico.

Donnie Lewis Lawson

Donnie Lewis Lawson, age 44, resident of De Queen, died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2006 at his home.

He was born Nov. 20, 1961 in Blevins; and was a line worker for Pilgrim's Pride for 19 years.

He is survived by his mother, Crystal Faye Lawson of Prescott; four brothers, Lamark Lawson and Ronald Lawson, both of De Queen, Jimmy Lawson of Little Rock, and Andre Lawson of Prescott; and his grandfather, Luther Lawson of Prescott.

Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 6 in the Sand Hill cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

William Barbour

William "Bill" David Barbour, a resident of Hot Springs, formerly of De Queen, died Thursday, July 27, 2006.

He was born Dec. 24, 1917 in Durham, N.C. to David and Adelaide Barbour, and was a member of the Airport Hwy. Church of Christ of Hot Springs.

He is survived by his wife, Opal Greathouse Barbour; two daughters, Debra Barbour of Hot Springs and Peggy Louten of Pearcy; and several step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 31 in Memorial Gardens, under the direction of Gross Funeral Home.

Heath L. Hagler

Heath Lavoy Hagler, age 29, a resident of Berryville, died Thursday, July 27, 2006 in Springfield, MO.

He was born Sept. 18, 1976 in Harrison, to Edward Oliver Hagler Sr. and Patsy Johnnie Burke Hagler, and was a Track Drill Operator for Rid-A-Rock.

He was preceded in death by his father; grandparents, Paul and Viola Burke; and a grandmother, Annie Hugh Hagler.

He is survived by one son, Bracy L. Hagler; one daughter, Heidi A. Hagler; a step-son, Hunter Botner, all of Berryville; his mother; two brothers, Edward O. Hagler Jr. and Clifford Scott Hagler, both of Berryville; a grandfather, L.O. Hagler of Texarkana; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 31 at the Charles M. Nelson Memorial Chapel. Burial followed in the Berryville Memorial Park cemetery, under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service.

Nola Opal Cantlon Knod

Mrs. Nola Opal Cantlon Knod, age 82, a resident of De Queen, AR, died Wednesday, August 9, 2006 in a Little Rock hospice facility.

She was born November 7, 1923 in De Queen, Arkansas to Floyd and Mildred Inez Lowrey Cantlon. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in De Queen.

Mrs. Knod was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Harding Knod, on September 22, 1983.

She is survived by one son, Wayne Knod of Maumelle, AR; one daughter, Sherry Bianchi-Knod of Eagan, Minnesota; one brother, Floyd Cantlon Jr. of Celina, Texas; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Knod were held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 12, 2006 in the Redmen cemetery with Rev. Charles Herbert officiating, under the direction of the Wilkerson Funeral Home.

The family received friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., Friday, August 11, at the funeral home.
