Neoma McAlister
Mrs. Neoma McAlister, age 82, a resident of Benton, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2006.
She was born Jan. 9, 1924 near Sheridan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow W. McAlister; a sister, Oneal Clark; two brothers, Stamps and A.I. "Junior" Sheppard.
She is survived by four children, Woody McAlister of Odessa, MO., Bennie Prince of Hot Springs, Larry McAlister of Horatio, and Reggie Cobb of Perryville; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 15 in the Ashby Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Pinecrest cemetery.
Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.
Gladys Byrum
Gladys Byrum of Hot Springs went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Aug. 6, 2006 at home.
Born March 6, 1941, at De Queen, Ark., Gladys married
in the fall of 1954 to John Byrum. In the winter of 1961, she came to Mountain Pine where she was a devoted mother and homemaker. As her children grew, she sought other ways to stay busy and discovered that she enjoyed working with senior adults. She became a Site Director for the Senior Center in 1974 which she remained with till her death. Between the love of her family and work, her life was very full. She never spent much time on herself. She was a dedicated Christian and servant of God's love.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Byrum; her parents, George Clarence Miller and Gladys Imogene Miller; two sons, Doyle Byrum and Darrell Byrum; one grandchild; one sister, Ina Francis Sanders; and two brothers, George Miller and Billy Miller.
She is survived by Donald Byrum, David and Pam Byrum, Donna and Jerry Bates and Debra and Oren Bright, all of Hot Springs, Harlow Sanders of Kansas, Margaret Baker of Texas, Shelia Sanders, Lori and Michael McClean, Billie Jean Miller and Karen Byrum, all of Hot Springs, 34 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
The service were at 10:00 a.m. Friday, at Avon cemetery, De Queen, with Pastor Thomas Lanthrip officiating.
Pallbearers were John Clark, Willie Burns, Johnny Daley, James Taylor, William Morris and Jack McConnell.
Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Kyle Roper, Dr. Tim Webb, Mercy Cancer Center, St. Joseph's Mercy Health Center, Arkansas Hospice Home Care, Mercy Senior Care, Mcauley Center.
Visitation was 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Gross Funeral Home.
We will miss our mother/grandmother, however she will live on through our memories, our children and theirs. She is gone from our sight, but not from our hearts. Momma, we love you.

Ruth Richardson
Mrs. Ruth Nora Dugan Richardson, age 78, of Horatio, Arkansas passed away Thursday, August 3, 2006 at her home.
She was born on March 24, 1928 in Wallace, Arkansas to Jess and Sarah Jane Dugan. She was a homemaker, mother and Christian.
Mrs. Richardson was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George Richardson Sr., and two sons, George Richardson Jr. and Roy Glen Richardson.
Survivors are two sons and daughters-in-law, Ray and Jane Richardson and Bruce and Jennifer Richardson of Horatio; two daughters and sons-in-law, Yvonne and Allen Evans and Melinda and Dale Litchford also of Horatio; a special niece, Mildred Johnson of De Queen; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
Pallbearers for Mrs. Richardson were her grandsons, Houston, Donnie, Jason, Robert and Justin Richardson, Chris Snider and Josh Callhan.
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Richardson were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 5, 2006 in the Horatio cemetery with Rev. Jimmy Roden officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
The family received friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 4, at the funeral home.
Thomas F. Jones Jr.
Thomas F. Jones Jr., age 40, a resident of Ashdown, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2006.
He was born July 8, 1966 in Argentine, New Foundland to Thomas F. Jones Sr. and Ann Murray Jones, was a brick mason and a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his father and step-mother, Sandra Eggar; a sister, Angela Elliott; and a step-brother, Tim Baldwin.
He is survived by his wife, Edith Jones of Ashdown; step-children, Jamie Ardwin and Samantha Arwin, both of Wilton; brothers, Mark Anthony Jones of Mesquite, Texas, Scott Baldwin of Little Rock and Keith Jones of Bodcaw; step-sister, Kathy McGuire of Austin, Texas; grandparents, Otho and Pauline Jones of Grannis.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 11 at Overturf cemetery with Bro. James Harris officiating, under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
Mildred Gore
Mildred Lucille Davis Gore, age 80, formerly of De Queen, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2006 in Prairie Grove.
She was born Sept. 9 1925 in El Dorado, Okla. to Marion Washington Davis and Mae Nichols Davis, and was a member of Lone Oak Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Marshall Thurman Gore.
She is survived by three sons, Allen Davis Gore of Bartlesville, Okla., Dale Boyd Gore of Horatio, and Ben Thurman Gore of White Oak, Texas; five daughters, Marsha Lou West of Athens, Ga., Anna Mae Johnston of De Queen, Rita Lavone Angeles of De Queen, Wanda Gale Lanier of Fayetteville, and Bonnie Sue Gore of De Queen; thee sisters, Mary Hammon of Santa Barbara, Calif., Martha Davis of Farmington, and Maxine Davis of De Queen; 18 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roy Conatser officiating. Burial followed in the Millwee cemetery.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15 at the funeral home.
Henry W. Sharp
Henry W. Sharp, age 81, a resident of Lockesburg, died Saturday, Aug. 19, 2006 at his home.
He was born Oct. 10, 1924 in Lockesburg to Lon F. and Rena Wilson Sharp and attended the Milford Union Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Marcilene Bradshaw; two brothers, Charles and Bryan Sharp; two sisters, Bessie Cantrell and Hazel Oglesby.
He is survived by one brother, Dee Sharp of Lockesburg; one sister, Lillabelle Houser of De Queen; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22 in the Lockesburg cemetery with Rev. Wallace Wooten officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
The family received friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21 at the funeral home.
