Margaret Alene Holberg

Margaret Alene Johnson Holberg, age 84, resident of Port Arthur, Tex., died Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2005 at Gulf Health Center.

She was born Feb. 2, 1921 to T.C. and Bessie Crowell Johnson; was a native of Horatio; and a Baptist. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” Holberg.

She is survived by two sons, Dennis Holberg of Nederland, Tex., and Kyle Holberg of San Diego, Calif.; one sister, Mildred Fischer of Groves, Tex.; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8 in Grammier Oberle Funeral Home. Burial followed in Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.

Margaret Veal

Margaret Mary Hughes Veal, 84 went to her Lord on Saturday, August 20, 2005. Born November 4, 1920 in Mineral, Ark. to Charles and Emma Margaret Hughes, she was one of eight children. She obtained the rank of Sergeant while serving with the Marine Corps during World War II. She married Hugh Veal on July 20, 1946. She was a longtime resident of Edmond, Okla. and owner for many years of the Veal Café at Portland and Edmond Road.

She is survived by her sister, Suzanne Brooks of Fayetteville, Ark.; one son Edward Veal, Tulsa, Okla.; five daughters, Helen Walker, Edmond, Okla.; Rita Veal and son-in-law Keith, Mirkes, Stillwater, Okla.; Mary Waldron and son-in-law James, Leesburg, Va.; Joan Bogart and son-in-law Philip, Phoenix, Ariz.; Doris Jean Veal, Kingfisher, Okla.; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the St. Ann's Home staff for their excellent care and loving kindness.

There was a Rosary on Monday, August 22 at 7:00 p.m. at Baggerley Funeral Home in Edmond, Okla. A funeral Mass was held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 23 at St. Ann's Home in Oklahoma City with interment at Gillham cemetery, Gillham, Ark. on Wednesday, August 24 at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to Center of Family Love, Okarche, Okla. or St. Ann's Home, Oklahoma City, Okla. or Frontier Hospice, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Barbara Jean Reynolds

Barbara Jean Reynolds, age 75, resident of Grove, Okla., died Saturday, Aug. 6, 2005.

She was born Aug. 15, 1929 to Willie M. and Grace Sharp; worked for 26 years for retailer Sears; upon retirement she and her husband moved to De Queen until 2001 then relocated to Grove. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, James Franklin Sharp, William Frederick Sharp and Ray Lee Sharp; and one daughter, Barbara Sharon Ayers.

She is survived by her husband, Fred Reynolds of Grove, Okla.; three children, Loyd Ray Ayers of San Diego, Calif., Jimmy Carl Ayers of Joplin, Mo., and Billy Wayne Ayers of Concord, Okla.; one brother, Donald Wayne Sharp and one sister, Evelyn Francille Riley, both of Texas; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 11 in Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Horatio cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10 at the funeral home.

Judy Ninette Tipton

Judy Ninette Tipton, age 47, a resident of Dierks, died Monday, August 15, 2005 in Hot Springs, Ark.

She was born November 30, 1957 in Roseburg, Ore. to Gene and Lora Mae Young Brock. She was a poultry farmer for Tyson Foods, and a member of the First Baptist Church in Dierks.

Mrs. Tipton was preceded in death by her mother.

She is survived by her husband, Danny Tipton of Dierks; two daughters, Heather Kesterson of Oklahoma City, Okla. and Rachel Gardner of Athens, Ark.; one son, James Tipton of Dierks; three precious grandchildren; one brother, Mikeal Brock of Dierks; her father; and very special friend, Tammy Allen, also of Dierks.

Funeral Service for Mrs. Tipton were held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 18, 2005 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in Dierks with Rev. Bobby Neal officiating. Burial followed in the Allen cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.

The family received friends from 6 - 8 p.m., Wednesday, August 17, at the funeral home in Dierks.

Robert Nelson Pickett, Sr.

Robert Nelson Pickett, Sr., age 76 and a resident of Gulfport, died Monday, August 8, 2005, in Gulfport.

Mr. Pickett was a native of Athens, Ark., was reared in Lockesburg, Ark., and was a resident of the MS Gulf Coast since 1968. He served in the U. S. Air Force for over 20 years, and retired in 1990 after 23 years in electronics with the Northrop Grumman Planning Department at Ingalls. He was a member of Bay Vista Baptist Church in Biloxi.

Mr. Pickett was preceded in death by his parents, James F. Pickett and Minnie Stacy Pickett; and brothers, Claude Pickett, James Pickett, and Wesley Pickett. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Gloria Wade Pickett, of Gulfport; son, Robert Nelson Pickett, Jr., owner of A Distinctive Salons, and his partner, Roy Fisher; a sister, Mary Jane Pickett, of Lockesburg, Ark.; a granddaughter, Meaghan Elise Champagne Pickett, of Pensacola, Fla.; step-granddaughter, Bethany Fisher; nieces in Atlanta, Ga., and many cousins, nieces, and nephews in Locksburg, Ark., Texarkana, Ark., and Texas; also many in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas areas.

My father was my guardian angel and he still lives in my and many others' hearts.

Visitation was at Riemann Funeral Home, 25th Avenue in Gulfport, on Wednesday, August 10, 2005, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. The funeral was held on Thursday, August 11, at 10:00 a. m. in the funeral home chapel, with burial in the National cemetery in Biloxi.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation MS Gulf Coast Chapter, 4313 Leisure Time Dr., Diamondhead, MS 39525; American Cancer Society, 417 Security Sq., Gulfport, MS 39507; or to the South MS AIDS Task Force, 2756 Fernwood Rd., Biloxi, MS 39531.

Charles Edward Horne

Charles Edward Horne, age 75, resident of Moore, Okla., died Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2005.

He was born July 23, 1930 in Walters, Okla., to Charles and Anice Gore Horne; was a member of Southern Ridge Church of Christ; active in the DAV; a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam Conflict; and worked at Tinker Air Force Base for 20 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and one sister.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Horne of Moore, Okla.; two sons, Ronald Horne of Oklahoma City, Okla., and LeRoy Horne of Albuquerque, NM; one daughter, Cheryl Warren of Atlanta, In.; step-children, Keith Taggart of Del City, Okla., and Sherry Cobb of Davenport, Okla.; one brother, Perry Horne of Clute, Tex.; four grandchildren, three step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6 at Southern Ridge Church of Christ in Oklahoma City. Interment followed in Moore City cemetery, under the direction of John M. Ireland Funeral Home and Chapel of Moore, Okla.

Norma Dell Pell

Norman Dell Montgomery Pell, age 68, resident of Lockesburg, died Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2005 in De Queen Medical Center.

She was born Nov. 21, 1936 in Lockesburg to Furman and Ottie Davis Montgomery; was a tax preparer; a beautician; and a member of Lockesburg Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy E. Pell on May 4, 1984; and one son, Ricky Pell.

She is survived by one son, Randy Pell of Ashdown; one daughter, Joy Cruse of Lockesburg; one brother, Lloyd Pell of Lockesburg; four grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27 in Lockesburg Methodist Church with Rev. John Henry Williams officiating. Burial followed in Lockesburg cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

The family will be at the home of Joy Cruse, 403 N. Azalea, in Lockesburg.

J.B. Crow

Julian Bruce “J.B.” Crow, age 82, died Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2005 at his home in the McHorse Community.

He was born Sept. 29, 1922 in Ada, Okla., to William Matthew and Edith Mattingly Crow; was a World War II Army veteran; hauled pulpwood; retired from the Sevier County Road Department; a member of Provo Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he was an Elder since 1960; and a member of Belleville Masonic Lodge and American Legion. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Harold and Clifton Crow; and a sister.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Ruth Crow of Lockesburg; three sons, William Bruce Crow and Wesley “Dillon” Crow, both of Ashdown, and Clayton Crow of McHorse Community; one daughter, Bonita Ward of Dierks; two brothers, Kenneth Crow of Provo and Gale Crow of McHorse Community; two sisters, Millie McKellar of Falls Chapel and Peggy Whatley of Bloomburg, Tex.; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 20 in Provo Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Rev. J.L. Walker officiating. Burial will follow in McHorse cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19 at the funeral home in Dierks.
