Haskell Shelton
Haskell Shelton, age 76, resident of Nashville, died Monday, May 16, 2005 in Wadley Regional Medical Center, Texarkana.
He was born Nov. 1, 1928 in Provo to Charlie Cecil and Gladys Inez Cannon Shelton; was a lumber grader for Dierks Lumber Co. and Weyerhaeuser; a U.S. Air Force veteran; and a member of Beech Creek Hunting Club.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Shelton; two sons, Larry Shelton of De Queen and David Shelton of Nashville; two daughters, Patricia Bullard of Kerens, Tex., and Anita Shelton of North Little Rock; one brother, Clinton Shelton of Ashdown; one sister, Helen Ryan of Ashdown; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 19 in Center Point Church of Christ with Ray Nation, minister, officiating. Burial followed in McHorse cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.
The family received friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 18 at the funeral home in Dierks.
Calvin Leon Alsobrook
Calvin Leon Alsobrook, age 48, resident of Ardmore, Okla., died Thursday, May 5, 2005 in Mercy Hospital at Ardmore.
He was born Jan. 14, 1957 at Marlow, Okla., to Bob E. and Dorothy Beck Alsobrook; was a framing carpenter; was formerly from Oklahoma City, Claremore and De Queen; and had attended Broken Bow High School.
He is survived by his son, Keith of Horatio; two grandchildren; his parents, Bob Alsobrook of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Dorothy Beck Alsobrook of De Queen; three brothers, Michael Alsobrook of New Bedford, Tex., Ray Elliott of Broken Bow, Okla., and Kaleb Alsobrook of Edmond, Okla.; four sisters, Sue Hargis of Horatio, Sharon Lacefield of De Queen, Anita Barfield of Gillham, and Renae Alsobrook of Austin, Tex.; and a number of nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 9 at Marlow cemetery with Rev. Mike Teel officiating, under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home of Marlow, Okla.
Myrtle Huff
Mrs. Myrtle Hunter Huff, age 95, resident of Watson, Okla., died Monday, May 16, 2005 in a local nursing home.
She was born April 24, 1910 in Athens to the late William Ambrose and Sarah Arzella Bailey Hunter; was a supervisor with Modock Ranch; over orchards; trained personnel in bud grafting and pruning trees; and was a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Mose Huff, in Dec. 1975; three sons; and one daughter.
She is survived by two sons, Willis Huff of White City, Ore., and Lefty Huff of Phoenix, Ore.; five daughters, Oma Pomroy of White City, Ore., Mary Newson of Potter, June Mason of St. Louis, Mo., Sheila Carlin of Medford, Ore., and Roma Toon of Smithville, Okla.; one sister, Linda McGillivray of Coeur D. Alene, Ida.; 40 grandchildren; 120 great-grandchildren; and 30 great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 18 in the Sulphur Springs Missionary Baptist Church, under the direction of Hall Funeral Service of Mena.
Francisco Nito Martinez
Francisco Nito Martinez, age 27, resident of De Queen, died Sunday, May 15, 2005 near Eagletown, Okla.
He was born Oct. 6, 1977 in Mexico to Antonio Castro and Clemencia Martinez Morales; and was a tree planter and trimmer.
Funeral services will be held at Cortazar, Guanajuato, Mexico.
Viewing was Tuesday, May 17 at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
Mary Frances Dinger
Mrs. Mary Frances Dinger, age 80, resident of De Queen, died Monday, Jan, 17, 2005 in Brookewood Nursing Center.
She was born Oct. 24, 1924 in Cloverdale, Ky., to Patrick and Christine Miller; was a homemaker; and a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Ray Dinger on March 20, 1991; two sons, James Dinger and Lawrence Dinger; and one grandson, Brian Dinger.
She is survived by one son, Tony Dinger of De Queen; four daughters, Teri Hart of De Queen, Betty Stout and Nessie Gore, both of Gillham, and Lynda Phillips of Gilmer, Tex.; two brothers, Jack Miller of Kingman, Ariz., and Lonnie Miller of Granite Bay, Calif.; two sisters, Katherine Jones of Waldron and Patsy Dunn of Roseville, Calif.; 17 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19 in Sweet Home cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
Pansy Hazel Chenault
Pansy Hazel Barber Chenault, age 85, resident of Russellville, died Friday, Jan. 21, 2005.
She was born Oct. 23, 1919 at Rocky to Kate Clementine and George Washington Barber; was a member of First United Methodist Church of Delaware; and attended Crow Mountain Baptist Church in Russellville. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul Tucker Chenault; an infant son, Billy Ray Chenault; five brothers, Robert Baber, Virgil Baber, Dick Baber, Ned Baber and Issac E. “Lish” Baber; and three sisters, Ruby Simoneaux, Netta Taylor and Nancy White.
She is survived by one daughter, Barbara Shepherd of Russellville; one son, Ron Chenault of Russellville; two grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside service were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 24 in Rocky cemetery near Mena with Rev. Wylie Jones officiating, under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.

Denney Ferris Carpenter
Denney Ferris Carpenter, age 83, resident of De Queen, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2005 at his home.
He was born Dec. 27, 1921 at Ardmore, Okla., to Joseph Leslie and Mary Elizabeth Cecil Carpenter; was a veteran of World War II having served in Ardennes Rhineland, Central Europe, Normandy, and Northern France with the U.S. Army; was a member of Grannis Community of Christ Church; was retired from Weyerhaeuser Company with over 30 years service; and enjoyed farming, fishing and hunting. He was preceded in death by his parents, and eight brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Marjorie Joy Youngblood Carpenter of De Queen; two daughters, Joy Byrd of De Queen and Pam Davis of Diana, Tex.; one sister, Bessie Brewer of De Queen; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11 in Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Richard Leach, minister, officiating. Burial followed in Valley cemetery at Gillham.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10 at the funeral home.
Barbara Ann Mauldin
Barbara Ann Bryant Mauldin, age 40, resident of Hooks, Tex., died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2004 near Wilton.
She was born July 6, 1964 in Mt. Home; and was a support manager for Wal-Mart.
She is survived by one son, Brian Mauldin of Provo; three daughters, Cindy Mathis and Stephanie Mauldin, both of Provo, and Amanda Mauldin of Dierks; two brothers, James Bryant of Dover and Randy Bryant of Centerville; her mother, Vivian Crabtree McMaster of Centerville; and her father Tommy Bryant of Dover.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28 in Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in De Queen with Rev. B.L. Blann officiating. Burial followed in Dierks cemetery.
