Lloyd Horace Cox
Lloyd Horace Cox, age 78, resident of Green’s Chapel Community near Dierks, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2005 at her home.
He was born Aug. 15, 1926 at Green’s Chapel to Horace and Mary Pearl Graves Cox; was a transmitter engineer for KTAL TV; a member of Green’s Chapel Methodist Church; and an Army veteran of World War II having served in the Philippines. He was preceded in death by a son, Terry Lynn Cox; and a brother, Vaughn Cox.
He is survived by his wife, Floy Morris Cox; one son, Michael Lloyd “Mikey” Cox of Dierks; one daughter, Anita Mays of Dierks; one brother, Hercel Cox of Dierks; one sister, Pearl Dean Cody of Casa; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25 in Green’s Chapel Methodist Church with Rev. Garry Wiles and Jerry Cox officiating. Burial followed in Green’s Chapel cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 24 at the funeral home in Dierks.
Everett Brewer
Everett Brewer, age 95, resident of Gillham, died Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004 in De Queen Medical Center.
He was born June 25, 1909 in London, Ky., to George and Sarah Pruitt Brewer; was a farmer; and a member of Gillham First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alma Harris Brewer.
He is survived by two daughters, Nadine Frachiseur of Gillham and Edna Martin of Glenwood; one son, Edward Ray Brewer of Texas; one sister, Dora Cooper of Gillham; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27 in Gillham First Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Hill officiating. Burial followed in Gillham cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
Ozelle Rollins Burris
Mrs. Ozelle Rollins Burris, age 85, resident of De Queen, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2005 in Brookewood Nursing Center.
She was born Sept. 3, 1919 in Salmon, Tex., to John and Eula Bozeman Rollins; was a homemaker; and a member of Rose Hill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie LeRoy “Bill” Burris on March 7, 1998.
She is survived by two sons, Bill Burris of Graham, Wash., and Hank Burris of Palestine, Tex.; one daughter, Margaret Burris Craft Carter of Frankston, Tex.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11 in Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tim Bolin officiating. Burial followed in Chapel Hill cemetery.
Jeanelle Marie Jenkins
Mrs. Jeanelle Marie Jenkins, age 52, resident of De Queen and formerly of Albuquerque, NM, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005 in Wadley Regional Medical Center at Texarkana.
She was born March 5, 1952 at Albuquerque, NM to Richard Grosbeck and Jeannie Marie Roberson Carlisle; was a licensed practical nurse; and a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints of De Queen. She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Eric Jenkins of De Queen; three sons, Jason Lloyd Jenkins, Bryan Richard Jenkins and Adam Michael Jenkins, all of De Queen; two daughters, Amy Jeanne Jenkins and Emily June Jenkins, both of De Queen; two brothers, Michael Carlisle of Albuquerque, NM, and Richard Harry Carlisle of North Carolina; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with burial in Fairview cemetery at Albuquerque, NM under the direction of Strong/Thorne Funeral Home. Local arrangements by Chandler Funeral Home.
Leonard Noah "Brick" Irvan
Mr. Leonard Noah "Brick" Irvan, age 94, a resident of Horatio, died Monday, December 20, 2004 in the De Queen Regional Medical Center.
He was born December 10, 1910 in Horatio to Benjamin Franklin Irvan and Sarah Stover Irvan. He was a truck driver, farmer, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific, and a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Horatio.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nona Lou Shipman Irvan; his parents and step-mother, Eva Chewning Irvan; six brothers and six sisters.
Mr. Irvan is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Claude and Jonnie Irvan and Roger Irvan, all of Horatio; one daughter and son-in-law, Nona and Aikman Kendrick of Cerro Gordo; one brother, Russell Irvan of Horatio; three sisters, Sybil Young of Shreveport, La., Della Young of Horatio and Evelyn Young of Turlock, Calif.; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Kim and Kelvin Farr, Kyle and Cindy Irvan, Kent and Katy Irvan, Tammy and Tony Goins, Cindy and Marc Suffridge, Rhonda Kendrick, Amy and Ross Henderson and Lori and John Capps; 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Irvan were held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 23, 2004 in the First Assembly of God Church in Horatio with Rev. J. L. Walker officiating. Burial followed in the Clear Creek cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
The family received friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 22, at the funeral home.
Shirley Bryan
Shirley Louise Bryan, age 69, a resident of De Queen, died Tuesday, January 18, 2005 in the De Queen Medical Center.
She was born December 16, 1935 in Gillham, Ark. to Hubert and Inez Byers. She was employed by Pilgrim's Pride, was a member of the VFW ladies auxiliary and was a Baptist.
Mrs. Bryan was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Bryan; one brother, Robert M. Byers, and her parents.
She is survived by one sister, Dorothy Webb of Eagletown; three daughters, Shawn Bryan of De Queen, Caramia Humpherys and Cheryl Ann Glenn, both of Breckenridge, Texas; two sons, James Griswold of Hawley, Texas and Ben Griswold of Oklahoma City, Okla.; three stepsons, Bobby Bryan of Gillham, Gary "Buckwheat" Bryan of Broken Bow, Okla., and Ricky Bryan of Austin, Texas and a number of grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Bryan will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 21, 2005 in the Chapel Hill cemetery with Rev. Dale Hankins officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
The family will be at 1626 Hwy. 70 W. in De Queen.
Euna Faye Ausum
Euna Faye Ausum, age 76, resident of Dierks, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2005 in Dierks Nursing Center.
She was born July 26, 1928 in Flagstaff, Ariz., to Herman “Shorty” and Nina Kesterson Cannon; and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vern Ausum.
She is survived by one son, Larry Mattingly of Dierks; three daughters, Genie Turner of Gilbert, Ariz., Shelley Brenner of Vancouver, Wash., and Heidi Ausum of Chicago, Ill.; one sister, Louise Blackwood of Dierks; three brothers, Billy Cannon and Josh Cannon, both of Dierks, and Wesley Cannon of Fayetteville; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 13 in Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in Dierks with Rev. Mike Watkins officiating. Burial followed in McHorse cemetery.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12 at the funeral home in Dierks.
Rachelle Easlon
Rachelle Knicole Easlon, age 13, resident of De Queen, Ark., died Tuesday, January 11, 2005 at her home.
She was born to Richard and Patricia Bohanan Easlon at Talihina, Okla., on February 24, 1991, and was a student in the Horatio School System. She was a member of the Church of Christ of De Queen. She enjoyed basketball, softball, cheerleading, hunting, and riding 4-wheelers.
Besides her parents, Rachelle is survived by one sister, Kelsie Hannah Easlon of De Queen; her maternal grandparents, Viola Bohanan of Broken Bow, Okla. and Victor Bohanan of Oklahoma City, Okla.; several aunts and uncles, Steve Bohanan of Boswell, Okla., Danny Easlon, Donny Easlon, Vickie and Junior Dunn, all of De Queen, and Valorie and Donnie Minor of Eagletown, Okla.; a great-aunt, Verda Simmons of Tulsa, Okla.; and a number of cousins.
Funeral services for Rachelle Easlon were held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, January 14, 2005 in the Horatio Gymnasium with Paul Hillier, Minister, and Rev. Coy Arnold officiating. Burial followed in the Chapel Hill cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home.
