James Cooper Kizzia

James Cooper Kizzia, age 40, resident of Murfreesboro died Tuesday, Feb., 11, 2003.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 13 at the First United Methodist Church in Murfreesboro with a graveside service at 2 p.m. at Dunlap cemetery in Camden, under the direction of Proctor Funeral Home of Camden. Rev. Stan Adams will officiate the service.

He was christened at the First United Methodist Church in Murfreesboro.

He was preceded in death by a grandfather: Oliver Dunlap Martin; two uncles: James Oliver Martin and Sadler Martin and wife; and an aunt: Sue Martin Russell.

He is survived by his mother: Helen Martin of Sheridan; his father: Floyd Cooper Kizzia of Murfreesboro; a sister, Julie Lynn Kizzia Walls of Murfreesboro; a nephew and niece; his maternal grandmother: Sarah Allen Martin of Camden; his paternal grandparents: Fred Kizzia, Sr., and wife, Clarice; an aunt: Jo Walker; and many friends.

The pallbearers were Joe Martin Rogers, Sr., of Camden, Manuel Campalans of Little Rock, John Marvin Russell of Hampton, Thomas Strawn of Murfreesboro, Johnny Stone of Nashville, and J. W. Walls of Murfreesboro.

The family received friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12 at Latimer Funeral Home in Murfreesboro. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Murfreesboro or the Pike County Memorial Hospital.

Martha Melissa Friday

Miss Martha Melissa Friday, age 87, resident of De Queen, died Friday, April 18, 2003 in Sevier Healthcare Nursing Center.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 19 in Clear Creek cemetery at Horatio with Rev. Johnny Ross officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

She was born Oct. 10, 1915 in Lockesburg to Hinton and Pearl Dora Stover Friday; was a laundry presser; and was a member of Lockesburg First Baptist Church.

She is survived by one brother, Berryman Friday of Las Vegas, Nev.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Imogene Cole

Mrs. Imogene Cole, age 71, resident of Idabel, Okla., died Thursday, April 10, 2003 in McCurtain County Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 12 in Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Austin Emery officiating. Burial followed in Avon cemetery.

She was born March 1, 1932 in Broken Bow, Okla., to Joe and Idella Campbell Hyde; was a home-maker; and a member of Broken Bow Church of Christ. She was predeceased by her husband, Johnny Cole; one daughter, Kathy Handshaw; one brother; Carrell Hyde; and two sisters, R.V. Bean and Alta Hughes.

She is survived by two sons, Glen Stepp of Mena and Gary Stepp of Broken Bow, Okla.; two brothers, E.P. Hyde of Broken Bow, Okla., and Pete Hyde of Sweet Home, Ore.; two sisters, Georgia Sparkman of Idabel, Okla., and Fern Bess of Oregon; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Roy Taggart Jr.

Roy Taggart Jr., age 70, resident of Kingwood, Tex., died March 22, 2003 in Houston, Tex.

A memorial service was held at 7 p.m. March 25 in Kingwood Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tamara Kanatzar officiating.

He was born Aug. 1, 1932 in De Queen to Lela and Roy Taggart Sr.; graduated cum laude from Prairie View A&M; University of Texas where he earned his MBA; was an air traffic control supervisor at Houston Air Traffic Control Center for 35 years, retiring in 1992; and was a member of Forest Cove Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marlene Hall Taggart; a daughter, Laura Bridgewater of King-wood, Tex.; a son, David Roy Taggart of Kingwood, Tex.; a sister, Janell Brooks of Carmichael, Calif.; two grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Cecilia Baca

Mrs. Cecilia Barron Baca, age 35, resident of Grannis, died Sunday, April 27, 2003 in the Mena Medical Center.

Funeral Mass was held at 4 p.m. Wednesday. April 30 in St. Barbara Catholic Church with Father John Kerr officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home of De Queen. Burial was in Mexico.

She was born June 18, 1967 to Alberto Baca and Cruz Moreno in Parral, Chihuahua, Mexico; was a homemaker; and a member of St. Barbara Catholic Church.

She is survived by her husband, Saul Barron of Grannis; a son, Saul Barron Jr.; her mother, Cruz Mo-reno of Mexico; four brothers, Alberto Baca, Jesus Baca, Guillermo Baca and Amador Baca, all of Mexico; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Cecil James Akins

Cecil James Akins, age 88, resident of Foreman, died Monday, April 28, 2003 in Little River Memorial Hospital at Ashdown.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 2 in Foreman Church of Christ with Billy Blakeney, minister, officiating. Burial followed in Blackland cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Homes of De Queen.

He was born Aug. 19, 1914 in Foreman to James Joseph and Maude Ethel Clark Akins; and was a carpenter. He was predeceased by his wife, Fay Lillian Miller Akins.

He is survived by one daughter, Ethel Mann of Foreman; one brother, Johnny Akins of Foreman; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

There will be a viewing from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the Foreman Church of Christ.

Julia Anna Evanski

Mrs. Julia Anna Zombek Evanski, age 93, resident of Lockesburg, and formerly of Scott Township, Pa., died Tuesday, April 8, 2003 in Brookewood Nursing Center at De Queen.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 10 in Belleville cemetery with Rev. Ralph Staggs officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home of De Queen.

She was born Feb. 22, 1910 in Scott Township, Pa., to John and Anna Zombek; was a homemaker; and a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church. She was predeceased by her husband, Peter John Evanski; and a son, Raymond Leonard Evanski.

She is survived by one son, Paul Evanski of Lockesburg; one brother, Frank Zombek of Scott Town-ship, Pa.; one sister, Francis Widmar of Scott Township, Pa.; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. April 9 at the funeral home.

Raymon Scott Thomas

Raymon Scott Thomas, age 37, resident of Prairie Grove, died Saturday, Aug. 9, 2003 in Prairie Grove.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14 in Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in Dierks with Rev. Bobby Neal officiating. Burial followed in Green’s Chapel cemetery.

He was born July 19, 19 66 in De Queen; was a surveyor; and a Baptist.

He is survived by a son, Christopher Colt Thomas of Nashville; his parents, Dale Thomas of Dierks and Sandra Thomas of Prairie Grove; three sisters, Kelly Comer and Jerri Brock, both of Dierks, and Jackie Thomas of Prairie Grove; paternal grandmother, Iva Thomas of Dierks; maternal grandmother, Shirley Collins of Prairie Grove; and a number of nieces and nephews.
