Beverly Carter
Beverly Ann Wilcox Crabtree Cody Carter, age 55, a resident of Eufaula, Okla., died Saturday, Sept. 23, 2006 in the St. Edwards Hospital in Fort Smith.
She was born May 7, 1951 in Cherry Hill to Troy and Verlon Holland Wilcox and was a member of Texanna Assembly of God Church.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Benny Wilcox and a sister, Ellen Wilcox.
She is survived by her parents, Alvie and Verlon Presley of De Queen; sons, Jessie Crabtree of Eufaula, Okla., Leon Carter Jr. of Skiatook, Okla., and Christopher Carter of Colorado Springs, Colo.; daughters, Loretta Crabtree and Rhonda Holmes, both of Eufaula, Okla.; a brother, Charles Wilcox of Texarkana; sisters, Gladys Wright of Texarkana and Wanda Gipson of Texarkana, Texas; and 13 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27 at the Texanna Assembly of God Church with Rev. Tim Allen officiating. Burial followed in the Greenlawn cemetery in Checotah, under the direction of Hunn, Black & Merritt Funeral Home of Eufaula.
Ethel Davis
Ethel Geraldine Lawler Davis, age 70, a resident of Eagletown, Okla., died Saturday, Sept. 23, 2006 in the De Queen Medical Center.
She was born Sept. 19, 1936 in Haworth, Okla. to Leonard and Myrtle Fortune Lawler.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Donnie Davis and Doug Davis.
She is survived by her husband, Roy Davis of Eagletown; two sons, Danny Davis and David Davis, both of Eagletown; three daughters, Diane Chambless of Broken Bow, Okla., Devonne Davis and Deborah Kessler, both of Eagletown; a sister, Opal Hughes of De Queen; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 25 in the West Otis cemetery with Cy Davis, minister officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
Murray Raley
Mr. Murray Milvin Raley, age 84, a resident of De Queen, died Sunday, October 1, 2006 in Texarkana, Tex.
He was born December 7, 1921 in Stamps, Ark to Melvin and Cora E. Johnston Raley. He was a retired employee of Weyerhaeuser, an Army veteran of WWII, and attended the Smyrna Church of Christ.
He is survived by two sisters, Mae Raley of De Queen and Oleita Rodgers of Texarkana; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services for Mr. Raley were held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 4, 2006 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Charles Krudwig, minister officiating. Burial will follow in the Smyrna cemetery.
Mary Tallant
Mrs. Mary M. Mize Baker Tallant, age 89, a resident of Ashdown, died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2006 in Ashdown.
She was born Oct. 9, 1916 in the Miller Community in Little River County to Dave and Margaret Bogan Mize and was a member of the Crossroads Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Wilburn G. Baker on Jan. 12, 1964 and Lee E. Tallant Sr. on July 24, 2004.
She is survived by three sons; Jimmy Baker of Gautier, Miss., Bruce Baker of Winthrop and Billy Baker of Foreman; one daughter, Margie Ward of Ogden; 19 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29 at the Gravelly cemetery near Foreman with Rev. Harless Oglesby officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
Craig Westbrook
Mr. Timothy Craig Westbrook, age 15, resident of De Queen, died Thursday, June 2, 2005 at his home.
He was born to Scotty Dwayne and Tammy Darlene Beck Westbrook at De Queen, Arkansas, on March 11, 1990. He was a student at the De Queen Middle School and was a Baptist. He enjoyed baseball, hunting, fishing, and his play station.
He is survived by his parents, Scotty Westbrook of De Queen and Tammy McWilliams of Dallas, Texas; one brother, Anthony Clayton "Clay" Westbrook of De Queen; one half-sister, Jessica Niccole Beck of Fouke, Arkansas; one niece, Danyelle Beck of Fouke, Arkansas; his paternal grandparents, Shirley and Ronnie Bailey of De Queen; and James Westbrook of Gillham, Arkansas; his maternal grandmother, Betty Brown of Fouke, Arkansas; his paternal aunt and uncle, Dennis and Sissy Arndt of De Queen, Arkansas; as well as other aunts and uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services for Craig Westbrook were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 4, 2005 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Homer Frachiseur and Bro. Dennis Pruitt officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. Ida cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home.
Haskell Shelton
Haskell Shelton, age 76, resident of Nashville, died Monday, May 16, 2005 in Wadley Regional Medical Center, Texarkana.
He was born Nov. 1, 1928 in Provo to Charlie Cecil and Gladys Inez Cannon Shelton; was a lumber grader for Dierks Lumber Co. and Weyerhaeuser; a U.S. Air Force veteran; and a member of Beech Creek Hunting Club.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Shelton; two sons, Larry Shelton of De Queen and David Shelton of Nashville; two daughters, Patricia Bullard of Kerens, Tex., and Anita Shelton of North Little Rock; one brother, Clinton Shelton of Ashdown; one sister, Helen Ryan of Ashdown; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 19 in Center Point Church of Christ with Ray Nation, minister, officiating. Burial followed in McHorse cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.
The family received friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 18 at the funeral home in Dierks.
Maynard Arthur Smith
Maynard Arthur Smith, age 77, resident of De Queen, died Tuesday, June 7, 2005 in De Queen Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 31, 1927 at De Queen to Lawrence H. and Mabel D. Burgess Smith; was a veteran of Word War II, having served in the U.S. Navy, retiring after 20 years service; and was a member of the VFW and the Fleet Reserve.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Hettie Burris Smith of De Queen; two sons, Walter E. Smith of Cantonment, Fla., and Gary A. Smith of Casper, Wyo.; one daughter, Janice M. Tate of Miramonte, Calif.; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 11 in Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. J.L. Walker officiating. Burial followed in Redmen cemetery.
Jim McRae
Mr. Jim Quincy McRae, age 71, was born October 29, 1933 and died Monday, June 6, 2005.
He was married
to Rachel D. Bell on June 7, 1957 and was her husband for 47 years and 364 days. He was employed by Ritchie Grocery Company and later with Dierks Treating Plant and Weyerhaeuser in De Queen for 36 years. He loved taking his children fishing when they were younger and it was his great love for his family to be together. He was a former coach of the De Queen Lions Baseball Team. He was an avid sports fan and dearly "loved" the Arkansas Razorbacks. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served with the U.S. Army. He was a member of the De Queen Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer J. and Cal Nona Matthews McRae; his sisters, Ella Weaver, Opal McKinney, Edith Phillips and Nona Mae Phillips; and his brothers, Virgil McRae and Walter McRae.
He is survived by his wife, Rachel Delois Bell McRae; his daughter, Cynthia, and son-in-law, Paul Davignon, Jr., and their children, Greg and Quinci; his son, Jody McRae, and daughter-in-law, Tammy, and their daughter, Danielle; his daughter, Salina Rodrigues, and son-in-law, Rogelio "Ricky", and their children, Ariel, Christian, and Miriam; and one brother, Coleman McRae. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews, a number of cousins, and a lifetime of friends.
Funeral services for Mr. McRae were held at 10:00 a.m, Thursday, June 9, 2005 in the De Queen Church of Christ with Cy Davis, minister, officiating. Burial followed in the Chapel Hill cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
The family received friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 8, at the funeral home.
