Michael James House
Michael James House, age 19, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died on Sunday, October 6, 2002 in Wadley Regional Medical Center in Texarkana.
He was born on July 11, 1983 in De Queen. He was a student, built swimming pools and was a member of the Church of the Nazarene.
He was preceded in death by his father: Sonny Nevada House, and his maternal grandfather: Henry David Evans.
He is survived by his mother: Kathy House of De Queen; his step-father: Lyndell Gentry; three sisters: Samantha Mills of Gillham, Diana House of De Queen, and Marlyn Hendricks of Smithville, Oklahoma; four brothers: Matthew and Levi Gentry, both of De Queen, and Donald and Daniel House of Oregon; his maternal grandmother: Gladys Evans of Wickes; his paternal step-grandmother: Chloe Haw-thorne of De Queen; his paternal step-grandfather: Ed Hawthorne of De Queen; four nephews: James, Coleton, and Dustin Mills, all of Gillham, and Taylor Davis of De Queen; and a number of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services for Michael James House were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 12, 2002 in the First Assembly of God Church in De Queen with Rev. Oscar Ball and Billy Sullivan officiating. Burial followed in the Galena cemetery in Umpire, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
The family received friends from 6-9 p.m., Friday, October 11 at the funeral home.
The family was at the home of Mary Evans, 136 Jester Lane, in Gillham.
Willie Merritt Miller
Mr. Willie Merritt Miller, age 80, joined the Lord on October 7, 2002. He was a life long resident of De Queen, Arkansas.
He was born on February 10, 1922 to Willie Pratt Beall Miller and Charles Anton Miller in Thrift, Texas. He was a retired auto mechanic, a contract chicken grower for 30 years, a veteran of World War II and a member of the Lone Oak Baptist Church.
Mr. Miller was preceded in death by his loving wife: Inez Metcalf Miller; his mother and father and his brothers: C. B. Miller and D. L. Miller.
He is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law: Bobby and Sandra Miller of De Queen, Phillip and Judy Miller of Texarkana, Arkansas, Larry and Genie Miller of Eustace, Texas and Greg and Tracy Miller of Wylie, Texas; one daughter and son-in-law: Linda and James Hilborn of Plano, Texas; two sisters: Aline Nickerson of Horatio and Mary Anna Zacharias of De Queen; 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Miller were held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 9, 2002 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Faron Rogers and James McRae, minister, officiating. Burial followed in the Chapel Hill cemetery.
The family received friends from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, October 8 at the funeral home.
Warren Henry Burris
Warren Henry Burris, age 19, resident of Graham, Wash., died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002 at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Wash.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5 in Berean Baptist Church of Puyallup, Wash., with Pastor Gary Jayne officiating. Burial followed in Orting cemetery under the direction of Powers Funeral Home of Puyallup.
He was born July 7, 1983 in Puyallup; was a student at Bethel High School; was a member of Berean Baptist Church; had been a member of the Cub Scouts earning the Arrow of Light award; and a member of the Boy Scouts of America.
Estelle Taylor
Mrs. Estelle Miller Taylor, age 88, resident of De Queen, died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002 in Brookewood Nursing Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6 in Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wesley Blankenship and Rev. James Cannon officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Ida cemetery.
She was born May 24, 1914 in De Queen to William and Wanda Bales Miller; was a homemaker; a presser for an area dry cleaners; and a Baptist. She was predeceased by her husband, C.W. Taylor; and two sons, Walter "Shorty" Barrow and Leslie Barrow.
She is survived by a son, C.W. "Buddy" Taylor of Horatio; four daughters, Juanita Eason, Wanda Ruth and Cinda Tollett, all of De Queen, and Linda Wilson of Longview, Tex.; a sister, Elizabeth Myers of De Queen; 20 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will be at the home of Butch and Cinda Tollett, 1949 Hwy. 70 East in De Queen.
Edwina Kanatzar
Mrs. Edwina Compton Kanatzar, age 80, a resident of De Queen, passed away on Monday, December 2, 2002 in Texarkana, Texas.
She was born on September 15, 1922 in Nashville, Ark. to Ed and Wanda Jaques Compton. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in De Queen.
Mrs. Kanatzar was preceded in death by her husband: Paul William "Bill" Kanatzar in 1991 and one sister: Hortence Dawley.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: Bob and Sheila Kanatzar of Gillham and Bud and Ellen Kanatzar of Little Rock, Ark.; one sister; Annie Hugh Hagler of Texarkana, Texas; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Kanatzar were held at 9:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 4, 2002 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. J.L. Walker officiating. Burial followed at 3:00 p.m. in the Rose Lawn cemetery in Little Rock.

Mrs. Reyna Cienfuegos de Jesus, age 36, resident of De Queen, died Monday, Dec. 2, 2002 in Christus St. Michael Health System at Texarkana.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4 in Redmen cemetery with Pete Nunez officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home. Mrs. Cienfuegos will lie in state at home, 118 W. Gilson, De Queen.
She was born at Sta. Rosa, Guerrero, Mexico to Guemercindo Cienfuegos and Emiliana de Jesus; was a homemaker; and attended Emanuel Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Amado Rodriguez of De Queen; one son, Giovani Rodriguez of De Queen; two daughters, Maria Elena Rodriguez and Marisol Rodriguez, both of De Queen; three brothers, Joauin Rodriguez of Blue Earth, Minn., Abundio Rodriguez of Nashville, and Abram Rodriguez of De Queen; four sisters, Maria Felix Brito of Guerrero, Mexico, Maria Saldana of De Queen, Elosia Rodriguez of Henderson, Tex., and Placida Cienfuegos of Guerrero, Mexico; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Betty Blackwood
Mrs. Betty Joyce Black-wood, age 64, a resident of De Queen, passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2002 in the De Queen Regional Medical Center.
She was born Tuesday, November 8, 1938 in Nashville, Arkansas to Delbert and Emogene Smith. She was a retired school teacher, and was a member of First United Methodist Church in De Queen, where she taught the Young Adult Sunday School Class. She gave encouragement through her notes and letters to those in need and was a very loving wife, mother and Na Na.
Mrs. Blackwood is survived by her husband: Bill Black-wood; one daughter and son-in-law: Julie and Brett Lowery; one son: Bryan Blackwood, all of De Queen; a sister and brother-in-law: Pat and Minor Chaney of Murfreesboro, Arkansas; two grandsons: Blake and Alec Lowrey; a niece: Sherri Chaney; and one nephew: Dennis Chaney and his wife Jill.
Funeral services for Mrs. Blackwood were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 30, 2002 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Fish officiating. Burial followed in the Redmen cemetery.
The family received friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Friday, November 29, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of De Queen.
Catherine Elizabeth Mize
Mrs. Catherine Elizabeth Cobb Mize, age 82, resident of Weatherford, Tex., and formerly of Ben Lomond, died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2 in Ben Lomond cemetery with Rev. Mike Mize officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
She was born June 1, 1920 in Ben Lomond to William Rufus and Annie Cobb; was a homemaker; and a member of Eman-uel Baptist Church in Weatherford. She was predeceased by her husband, William Clyde Mize; a son, Phillip Mize; and a daughter, Betsy Mize.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda Corkin of Weatherford, Tex.; a son, Stan Mize of Brandon, Miss.; a sister, Anna Runyan of Cabot; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews.
