Teddy Nolan Owen
Mr. Teddy Nolan Owen, age 71, a resident of Eagletown, Oklahoma died Thursday, September 16, 2021 in Oklahoma City V.A. Healthcare System.
He was born March 15, 1950 in Altus, Oklahoma. He was a truck driver and a member of Ham Radio Club and attended The Rock Assembly of God Church.
Mr. Owen was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Lee and Naomi Lowe Owen; his wives, Gail Dillard Owen and Ann Lawler Owen, granddaughter, Leah Owen, two brothers, Richard Owen, and his twin Eddy Owen.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Virgil and Tracie of Fort Towson, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Haley and Jerry Tabor of Idabel, Josh and Rebecca Owen of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; Matthew Owen of Moore, Oklahoma; great grandchildren, Shon and Sadie; three step children, Genia and Paul Wayne Matthews of Eagletown, Tim and Sonya Lawler of Oak Hill, Tony and Jill Lawler of Eagletown; one brother and sister-in-law, Ira Hoyt and B.J. Owen; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Pat and Carl James, Joyce and Roland Nordmo and Kathy Fernandez and a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorial services for Mr. Owen will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Eagletown School Gymnasium with Jason Smith officiating.
Mrs. Jean Irvan
Mrs. Alma “Jean” Johnson Irvan, age 83, resident of Waxahachie, Texas, gained her angel wings on Monday, September 13, 2021, in Waxahachie after a short illness. She was born to Magnus and Bernice Dickson Johnson on December 18, 1937, in Horatio, Arkansas.
Jean was a homemaker and member of the Assembly of God Church. She enjoyed crocheting and painting, but her time was most productively spent with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of over 50 years, William Irvan; daughter, Patsy Gail; son, James William, Jr. (Bill); sister and brother-in-law, Emily and Danny Hodges; and great-granddaughter, Gabrielle Grace Ackerman.
Jean leaves to cherish her loving memory, one son, Carroll Stewart and wife Laura of Abbeville, Georgia; daughters, Terry DeLaGarza of Horatio, and Toni Guymon and husband Tracy of Waxahachie, Texas; sister, Sue Daniel of Maypearl, Texas; sisters-in-law, Judy Boothe of Carrollton, Texas, and Mary Jane Woodall of Horatio; thirteen grandchildren, Christopher and wife Amy, Maranatha and husband Jeff, Miriam and husband Jeremy, Philip and wife Irene, Adam and wife Donna, Eric and wife Hang, Nathan and wife Samantha, Aaron, Casey, Ashley and husband Tommy, Maggie, Shelby, and Tashia and husband Cole; thirty-five great-grandchildren, Shane, Elizabeth, Calleigh, Alliyah, Isaac, Miranda, Cayden, KiLee, Austin, Vivianne, Amber, Jacob, Nicholas, Jason, Max, Ben, Kai, Rose, Sean, Clayton, Trenton, Zacharia, Tristan, Erica, Gunner, Malachi, Julia, William, Angel, Ryan, Conner, Cambree, Karley, Declan, and Elliot; one great-great-grandchild, Santiago; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.
Graveside Services for Mrs. Jean Irvan will be held 1:00 P.M., Monday, September 20, 2021, at the Horatio Cemetery, Horatio, Arkansas, with Bro. Heath Daniel officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:00 P.M., Noon, Monday, at the funeral home. Funeral Arrangements are entrusted to Chandler Funeral Home of De Queen.
Hubert Napolen “Redbone” Phillips
Hubert Napolen “Redbone” Phillips a resident Horatio, Arkansas passed away September 14, 2021 at his home.
He was born January 6, 1931 in Horatio, Arkansas. Redbone was former employee of the railroad, was a hunting and fishing guide, a ranch hand, and a cook. He was a member of the Methodist Church.
Mr. Philips was preceded in death by his parents, Hudie and Eugenia Bumphus Phillips and his wife Naomi Lois Phillips, and his sister, Wafer Lee Chaytor.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Regenia and Mitchell Smith of Houston, Texas; one sister, Sue Phillips of Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Ron, Darren, Devin, Fayre, a niece and nephew, Theresa and Gregory Chaytor of CA.
Funeral services for Mr. Phillips will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 18, 2021 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home chapel with minister, Mitchell Bass officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Acres Cemetery in Horatio under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen. Repast will be held at the 1st Methodist Church in Horatio.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, September 17th at the funeral home.
The family requests that everyone wear a face mask and practice social distancing for safety.
Mrs. Robbie Rogers
Mrs. Robbie Geraldine Purtell Rogers, age 67, resident of Horatio, Arkansas, passed from this life on Monday, September 13, 2021, at her home.
Robbie was born on December 12, 1953, in Houston, Texas, and was adopted at a young age by Madison Custer and Nora Ethel McConnell Purtell. Robbie was a graduate of Horatio High School went on to complete some business courses. She worked in different capacities over the years, spending the last twenty-five years of her career as a Rural Letter Carrier for the United States Postal Service in De Queen. Robbie attended Grace Baptist Church in De Queen and was a member of a bowling team and competed in different horsemanship events in her younger years. Robbie cherished the time spent with her loving husband, their children, and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her birth mother, Bernice McConnell Zigler; her adopted parents, Madison and Nora Purtell; and her siblings, Thomas William Lister, Thelma Lois Lister Amos, Florence Elizabeth Purtell, Martha Helen Purtell Nunn, and Madison Paul Purtell.
Robbie leaves to cherish her loving memory, her loving husband, Roy Allan Rogers, Sr. of Horatio; her son, Stephen Ray Goins of Houston; two step-sons, Roy Allan Rogers, Jr., and Joseph Edmond Rogers and his wife Carey, all of De Queen; six grandchildren, Brittany LaRae Rogers, Shae Christian Rogers Smith and husband Bryce, Jacob Hunter Rogers, Jessica Elizabeth Rogers Franco and husband Jacob, Jennifer Lee Rogers, and Jordan Jobeth Rogers; two sisters, Wanda Sue Lister Goss and her husband Preston, and Patsy Ruth Purtell Walker Thompson; one brother-in-law, Pete Nunn; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.
Graveside Services for Mrs. Robbie Rogers will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, September 17, 2021, at the Redmen Cemetery Pavilion with Bro. Tim Johnson officiating. Interment will follow. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, at the funeral home. Funeral Arrangements are entrusted to Chandler Funeral Home of De Queen.
David Lee Suttle
David Lee Suttle, age 65, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, passed away, Saturday, September 11, 2021 at his home. He was born July 24, 1956 in Searcy, Arkansas.
David was retired from Suttle Equipment and was a United States Air Force veteran. He was a patriotic man who loved the Lord, Jesus Christ, his family and his country. He enjoyed collecting antiques, loved helping others and was involved in mentoring those in recovery through AA groups.
David was preceded in death by his parents, O.E. Gene and Eva Lee Black Suttle; one brother, Danny Suttle. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Angela Suttle of Hot Springs, Nick and Tara Suttle of Eagleville, Pennsylvania; one brother, Doug Suttle of De Queen, one sister, Donna Grady of Conway; six grandchildren, Abby, Bo, Emily, Ethan, Christain, Aaron.
Memorial services for Mr. Suttle will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 17, 2021 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel. Cremation arrangements by Wilkerson Funeral Home.
Rita Suzanna “Susie” Winer Thompson
Rita Suzanna “Susie” Winer Thompson, age 68, a resident of Lockesburg, Arkansas, passed away, Sunday, September 12, 2021 at Christus St. Michael Hospital in Texarkana, Texas.
She was born June 16, 1953 in De Queen, Arkansas. Susie was a homemaker, a wonderful cook, cake maker, decorator, quilt maker and seamstress. She was an avid hunter and fisher, but most importantly she was a Christian and a member of Old Union Missionary Baptist Church.
Susie was preceded in death by one son, John Leonard (John John) Thompson; her parents, Leo and Mary Peck Winer, her husband, Jack Leonard “John Conoco” Thompson and one brother, Terry Winer. She is survived by two sons, Jackson Thompson of Lockesburg; Jimmy and wife Vanessa Thompson of Lockesburg; one daughter, Susie and husband Brent Carver of Lockesburg; grandchildren, Jesse Keaton, Bryce Keaton, K’leeh and husband Joey Holt, Katie, Ashlie, Linnea, Izabelle, John, Emily and William and Marlee; great grandchildren, Emma, Lucy, Kyler, Brian and Drake; one sister and brother-in-law, Bette and Danny White of Dierks, Arkansas; special cousin and best friend, Charlene Slaton and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Susie will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 16, 2021 in the Old Union Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Donnie Davis and Danny White, minister officiating. Burial will follow in Old Union Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at the funeral home.
Rodney Mark Trusty
Mr. Rodney Mark Trusty, age 63, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas, died Sunday, September 12, 2021 in Hot Spring, Arkansas.
Mr. Trusty was born March 13, 1958 in Fort Chaffee, Arkansas. He was a truck driver, attended Dierks First Assembly of God Church and was a U.S. Army veteran. He loved his dog, Charlee and enjoyed fishing, working in the yard, working with his hands and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Annie Pressnell Trusty; three brothers, Raymond, Jodie and Robert and two sisters, Jane and Betty. He is survived by his wife, Bren Claborn of Dierks; two daughters, Brittany Taft of Antoine, Arkansas and Tristyn Trusty of Russellville, Arkansas; one step-son, Braxton Claborn of Dierks; three step-daughters, Brandee Walker of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Savannah McDowell and Jackee Cook both of Fort Worth, Texas; one brother, Tommy Trusty of Dallas, Texas; 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service for Mr. Trusty will be held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, September 16, 2021 at Dierks First Assembly of God Church with Kevin Herrington officiating. The family will receive friends starting at 5:00 p.m. before the service. Cremation arrangements by Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
