Genetta McWhorter Adams
Mrs. Genetta McWhorter Adams, age 68, resident of De Queen, Arkansas, passed peacefully from this life on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at home with loved ones by her side.
Genetta was born one of six children to the union of Allen “Windy” McWhorter and Lillie Lee Liggin McWhorter on June 9, 1953, in Nashville, Arkansas. She was a 1971 graduate of Lockesburg High School, and married the love of her life, William Jean “Willie” Adams, on June 19, 1971, in McCaskill, Arkansas. To this union, two sons were born. Genetta worked eight years for DH Baldwin Piano and Organ Company and later for the De Queen School District. She worked in food service for the school, retiring after thirty-two years of service. Genetta and Willie are faithful members of De Queen First Assembly of God, where she was known as “Sarge”. She served as Women’s Ministry Leader, Kitchen and Event Coordinator, Wedding Coordinator, and taught Sunday School and Children’s Church. She enjoyed reading, camping, playing games with family and friends, decorating her home, shopping, going to church, and spending time in Pensacola on the white sand and blue water. More than anything, she cherished the time spent with Willie, their sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Windy “Pops” and Lillie “Big Mama” McWhorter; two sisters, Phyllis Green and Tava Gordan; and two brothers, Louis McWhorter and David McWhorter.
Genetta leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband of over 50 years, Willie Adams of De Queen; two sons and daughters-in-law, William Jean Adams, Jr. and Stacy J. of Bauxite, Arkansas, and Mark Jonathan Adams and Stacy E. of Alma, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Lacey (Ryan) Leonard of Norfolk, Virginia, William Jace Adams of Bauxite, Alyssa Lee Adams of Alma, and Jonathan Ripley Adams of Alma; one great-grandchild, Isabella Jonette Adams, and another on the way; one brother and sister-in-law, George and Sara McWhorter of Daisy, Arkansas; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, the De Queen First Assembly of God family, and a host of friends.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Genetta Adams will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, August 27, 2021, at De Queen First Assembly of God with Pastor Ray Reynold and Rev. Kent Irvan officiating. Burial will follow at Old Union Cemetery, Lockesburg. Funeral Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Chandler Funeral Home of De Queen. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M., Thursday, at the funeral home.
Joye Lee Rogers Miller
Mrs. Joye Lee Rogers Miller, age 73, of Cove, Arkansas, passed peacefully from this life on Monday, August 23, 2021, at the Mena Regional Medical Center.
Joye was born one of four children born to the union of Edgar E. Rogers, Jr. and Betty Joyce Young Rogers on September 27, 1947, in Killeen, Texas. She married the love of her life, John Nuel Miller, on January 6, 1967, in Dallas, Texas. To this union, two daughters and a son were born. Joye retired from the Wickes School System after serving several years in food service and seventeen years as a bus driver. After retirement, Joye worked more than fifteen years in the HIPPY Program with the De Queen/Mena Educational Cooperative, serving early education children of the area. She was Baptist and enjoyed her dog – Bud, sewing, crafting, making wedding books, baking, cooking, and her stamp collection. Most of all, she cherished the time spent with her loving children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Betty Rogers; her loving husband and father of her children, John Miller in 1997; her second husband, Mike Shirley in 2011; and a brother, Johnny Rogers.
Joye leaves to cherish her loving memory, three daughters and sons-in-law, Sherri Frachiseur and Boujean of Cove, Elizabeth Gavigan and Brian of Brentwood, California, Abby Shirley and Wes of Texarkana; one son and daughter-in-law, John Miller and LeeAnn of Gillham; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Eddie Rogers of Dallas, Texas; one sister, Janet Henry of Cove; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Joye Miller will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, September 4, 2021, in the First Baptist Church of Wickes with Bro. Scott officiating. Burial will follow at Duckett Cemetery, Wickes. Funeral Arrangements are entrusted to Chandler Funeral Home of De Queen. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Friday, at the funeral home.

Margarito Ramirez
Mr. Margarito Ramirez, age 60, resident of De Queen, passed peacefully from this life on Monday, August 23, 2021, in Paris, Texas.
Margarito was born one of four children to Celestino Ramirez and Crispina Margarita Ramirez Trejo on March 15, 1961, in Caltimacan, Hidalgo, Mexico. Margarito was a member of St. Barbara Catholic Church in De Queen and the Knights of Columbus. He has worked twenty-seven faithful years with Tires Plus in De Queen and enjoyed working, yardwork, dancing, soccer, and family gatherings where he would barbecue.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son-in-law, Eduardo Trejo Alvarado; and a brother, Andres Ramirez.
Margarito is survived by wife, Veronica Ramirez of Grand Prairie, Texas; four children, Adam Ramirez of Austin, Texas, Crispina M. Ramirez of De Queen, Maricela Ramirez Watson and husband Terry of De Queen, and Elijah Ramirez of De Queen; four grandchildren, Jazmin Ramirez, Mireya Trejo Ramirez, Alma Trejo Ramirez, and Josiah Trejo Ramirez; one great-grandchild, Jaylani Johnson; one brother Arcadio Ramirez of California; two sisters, Mariana Ramirez of Mexico, and Ignacia Ramirez of Sherman, Texas; as well as the Hooker Family and staff of Tires Plus, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral Mass for Mr. Margarito Ramirez will be held at 3:00 P.M., Saturday, August 28, 2021, at St. Barbara Catholic Church in De Queen, with Father Ramses Mendietta officiating. Burial will follow at Redmen Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Friday, at the funeral home. Rosary services will begin at 6:00 P.M., led by the Knights of Columbus.
Ryan Scott Tugman
Ryan Scott Tugman, age 32, a resident of Gillham, Arkansas, died, Tuesday, August 23, 2021 at his home.
He was born May 17, 1989 in Mena, Arkansas. Ryan proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and talking to his army buddies.
Ryan was preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Sadie Tugman.
He is survived by his mother, Renee Tugman Gaither and father, Jerry Gaither; mother of his children, Tina Tugman; two daughters, Sadie Mae Tugman and Stormy Eve Tugman; aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Mary Jeanette Kitchens Smith
Mary Jeanette Kitchens Smith, age 71, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas, passed from this life, Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at her home.
She was born September 23, 1949 in Salem, Arkansas. She attended Newhope Freewill Baptist Church. Jeanette enjoyed watching her grandkids play ball, playing pollyan. She loved her family and going to church.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her father, Doyle Kitchens; one daughter, Stacey Sirmon; her husband, Jammie Hinsley, Sr. and one sister, Carolyn Parker.
She is survived by her mother, Katherine Pauline Jones Kitchens; her husband, Raymond Smith; one son, Shane “Peanut” Carter of Newhope, Arkansas; two daughters, Misty Jamison of Lockesburg, Kelly and husband Kevin Helms of Dierks; stepchildren, Annette Osborn of Dierks, Jammie Hinsley, Jr. of Malvern, Arkansas, Scott Hinsley of Bentonville, Arkansas, Pam McAnelly of Dierks, John Smith and Scott Smith both of Lockesburg; 8 grandchildren, Alex, Lucas, Tristen, Joseph, Stacey, Kyra, Kaden and Klay; numerous step grandkids; one sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Lewis Needham of Lockesburg; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside Funeral services for Jeanette will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 28, 2021 in the Old Union Cemetery with Kenny Fant and Scott Vaughn officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., Friday, August 28, 2021 at the funeral home chapel in Dierks.
Nellie Imogene Whisenhunt
Nellie Imogene Whisenhunt, age 89, a resident of Winthrop, Arkansas died peacefully in her home, Saturday, August 21, 2021.
She was born November 22,1931 in Royal, Arkansas. She worked alongside her husband, Melvin, as a logger; as an employee of Baldwin Piano and Organ in DeQueen, Arkansas; as a cook in the Winthrop School Cafeteria for many years; and with the grandparent program in Foreman Public Schools. She was a longtime member of Winthrop Baptist Church.
Imogene was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Aaron Whisenhunt, her grandson, Stuart Smith, her parents, David Larence and Willie Maxine Muncrief, as well as 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
She is survived by three daughters and a son-in-law, Diane Bender of Edmond, Oklahoma, Sharon Smith of Texarkana, Texas, and Carolyn and Larry Landrum of Foreman, Arkansas; two sons and daughters-in-law, Billy and Barbara Whisenhunt and Don and Faye Whisenhunt all of Winthrop; 17 grandchildren, Michelle and (Michael) Lisenby, Adrienne and (Randy) Schmedthorst, Jeanette and (Nathan) Barlow, Geoffrey Smith, Jona and (Chris) Hackner, Jessica and (Chad) Hutson, Julia and (Zack) Shankles, Jennifer and (Joe) Jones, Cheryl Moreland, LaQuita Kulmaczewski, Lenette and (Neal) Dossett, Kevin Shelton, Keith and (Irena) Shelton, Aaron and (Connie) Whisenhunt, Darrell and (Lisa) Reese, Sheila Patterson, and Robert Rye; 52 great grandchildren; a number of great-great grandchildren; 1 sister and 2 brothers . Her grandchildren all knew her as Mammer and will miss Mammer’s love pats.
A graveside service will be held to celebrate her life at Campground Cemetery in Winthrop, Arkansas on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 10:00 am with Audie Dawson and Jimmy Roden officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
Mrs. Kathy Baker Kosier
Mrs. Kathy Baker Kosier, age 72, passed away on August 9, 2021, in Gulfport, Mississippi.
She was preceded in death by her husband Johnny Randall Kosier; parents, Woodrow and Hazel Baker; siblings, Lora Mae Barrick, Frankilin D. Baker, Calvin E. Baker, Marvella Roan, and Lavada Richardson.
Survivors include her son, Johnny Bradford Kosier and wife Tammy of Biloxi; four siblings, Anita Blair of Wickes, Larry Joe Baker and wife Joan of Mena, Freddie Baker and wife Diane of Vandervoort, and Carla Wolcott and husband Steven of De Queen.
Kathy was a native of Wickes and a graduate of Wickes High School. She was a loving mother, housewife and Beautician. Her memory will be cherished by her family and fiends.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, September 4, 2021, at Baker Rock Church, 520 Polk 5 (Baker Road), Wickes, Arkansas 71832.
