Luther Carlton Stafford
Luther Carlton Stafford (Luke), of Horatio, Arkansas, will be dearly missed by many. His infectious laugh, and his desire to make others laugh, endeared most everyone who came to know him.
Luke was adventurous, and a wanderer from an early age. He shared stories of jumping trains, riding in rodeos, and many other shenanigans. His wandering took him to the Rockies of Colorado, where he fell in love with the austere beauty. He began a new family there and his wanderings became limited to traveling his paradise working as a truck driver for the Rio Grande Rail Company.
His infectious charm brough him many friends and loves in life, and he loved and lost many times, but he never stopped loving. He adored his children, Carl and Marilyn, and his grandchildren, Elyssa and Seth, and the lady who was with him until the end – his dog, Zoe.
In his later decades, he returned to his roots, living the rest of his days near his birthplace in Western Arkansas.
Luke took comfort in the familiarity of home, knowing that one day he would happily meet the Master who guided him through life, and that his spirit would be free to roam the Colorado mountains.
Luke was preceded in death by his parents, James Samuel and Bertha May Chandler Stafford; and five brothers: Cecil, Curtis, Jack, Bump, and Joe T. Stafford. Those left to cherish his loving memory include his son, Carl Stafford; his daughter, Marilyn Tarleton; two grandchildren, Elyssa and Seth; as well as nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
