Rev. Jerry Icenhower

Rev. Jerry D. Icenhower, age 60, resident of Mineral Springs, died Saturday, May 17, 2003 in a local hospital.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 20 in Nashville Funeral Home with Bro. Archie Philips and Bro. John Anderson officiating. Burial followed in Bluff Springs cemetery.

He was born May 17, 1943 in Dierks to Olen and Iva Westbrook Icenhower; was a Baptist; and was retired from the Howard County Road Department. He has been a Baptist minister for over 30 years pastoring in several different local churches; and had previously been involved in law enforcement.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Icenhower of Mineral Springs; two children, Kenny Icenhower of Texarkana, Tex., and Pam Dillehay of Mineral Springs; his parents, Olen and Iva Icenhower of Dierks; four brothers, Dwight Icenhower of Dierks, Rickey Icenhower of Midland, Tex., Danny Icenhower of Texarkana, Ark., and Garry Icenhower of Texarkana, Tex.; two sisters, Sandra Kemp of Nashville and Linda Kay Endsley of Shreveport, La.; and six grandchildren.

The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 19 at the funeral home.

George Richardson, Sr.

Mr. George Andrew Richardson, Sr., age 85, of Horatio, died Friday, May 30, 2003 in the De Queen Regional Medical Center.

He was born Saturday, March 16, 1918 in Turkey, Texas to Robert Lee and Jessie Webb Richardson. He was a veteran of WWII, serving as a Staff Sgt. in Company B 125th Engineers. He was a Christian. He was a retired maintenance employee of Pilgrim's Industries after 35 years, under Frank Halter.

Mr. Richardson was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, George Richardson, Jr., and Roy Glen Richardson.

Survivors are his wife, Ruth Dugan Richardson of Horatio, two sons and daughters-in-law: Ray and Jane Richardson and Bruce and Jennifer Richardson; two daughters and sons-in-law: Yvonne and Allen Evans and Melinda and Dale Litchford; one brother: Bill Richardson, all of Horatio; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

Pallbearers for Mr. Richardson will be Houston Richardson, Donnie Richardson, Robert Richardson, Jason Richardson, Chris Snider and Joe Lansdell and Honorary Pallbearers will be the Maintenance Department of Pilgrim's.

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Richardson were held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, May 31, 2003 in the Horatio cemetery with Pastor Jimmy Roden officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

The family was at the Richardson Home, 522 Bruce Street in Horatio.

June Clark

Mrs. June Graves Moody Clark died June 6, 2003 after a lengthy illness.

Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Tues., June 10, 2003 in the SouthPark cemetery, Pearland, Tex., with Rev. Fred Morrow officiating under the direction of Southpark Funeral Home.

She was born June 24, 1922 in Slaton, Tex. to William Russell and Emma Lee Graves.

She was predeceased by her parents; her first husband, Harold Thomas "Bud" Moody; her second husband, Jackson Lee Clark; one sister, Oma Kennedy; and two brothers, Russell Graves and John Graves.

She is survived by one son, Harold Harry Moody of South Houston, Tex.; one daughter, Ruby Jo Wooden of Lockesburg; two sisters, Essie Middleton of Mandeville, La. and Develle Catalano of Austin, Tex.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Yakima L. "Jack" Hanna

Yakima L. "Jack" Hanna, age 75, resident of Jonesboro, La., and formerly of De Queen, died Sunday, June 1, 2003.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 3 in Jonesboro under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

He operated the Piggly Wiggly grocery store in De Queen for numerous years; and also served on several local boards in the community. He was predeceased by a brother, J.W. Hanna.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Hanna of Jonesboro, La.; one daughter, Janelle Barnes of De Queen; one son, Bobby Hanna of Hot Springs; two step-daughters, Susan Huckaby of Jonesboro, La., and Sandra Hayes of Shreveport, La.; one step-son, Doug Graham of Jonesboro, La.; one brother, Runt Hanna of Jonesboro, La.; two sisters, Evelyn Hopkins of Zwolle, La., and Snookie Clements of Fayetteville; five grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren.

Illfay Frachiseur

Mrs. Illfay Oneda Frachiseur, age 80, a resident of Grannis, died Monday, June 2, 2003 in the Christus St. Michael Healthcare Center in Texarkana.

She was born August 6, 1922 in Antimony City, Arkansas to Carter Coffey and Goldie Almond. She was a homemaker and a member of the Almond Pentecostal Church.

Mrs. Frachiseur was preceded in death by a son: James Olton Frachiseur.

She is survived by her husband: James Oscar Frachiseur; one daughter: Oneda Fain; and one son: Edwin Frachiseur, all of Grannis; one brother: Burley Coffey of Texarkana, Arkansas; three sisters: Dorothy Jackson and Irma Pratter, both of Dierks, and Melba Smith of De Queen; six grandchildren: Rick Frachiseur, Scott Frachiseur, Charlotte Johnson, John Frachiseur, Monte Fain, and Shanon Frachiseur; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Frachiseur were held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 5, 2003 in the Holly Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Leon McClesky and Rev. Homer Frachiseur officiating. Burial followed in the Holly Grove cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

The family received friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 4, at the funeral home.

Lenora Virginia Kirsch

Lenora Virginia Crunk Kirsch, age 83, resident of Fred, Tex., and formerly of Lockesburg, died Thursday, May 22, 2003 at the home of her daughter in Fred. Tex.

Funeral services were held Sunday, May 25 in Mt. Nebo Baptist Church in Fred.

She was born April 9, 1920 at Horatio to William and Nora Crunk; attended school at Lockesburg; was a Baptist; and served in the Navy during World War II. She was predeceased by two brothers, Charlie Crunk and Bill Crunk; one sister, Virgie Crunk; and two great-grandchildren.

She is survived by one daughter, Linda Overstreet of Fred, Tex.; one son, Gus Kirsch of Fred, Tex.; four sisters, Ruby Roland and Emma Crunk, both of Nash, Tex., Amy McWhorter of Lockesburg, and Ida Mae Nutt of Carthage; three brothers, James Crunk of Nash, Tex., Robert Crunk and Calvin Crunk, both of Dallas, Tex.; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Francis A. Yocum

Francis A. "Check" Yocum, age 90, resident of Independence, Mo., died Wednesday, April 23, 2003 in Independence Regional Health Center.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 26 in D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Noland Road Chapel at Independence. Burial followed in Oak Ridge Memory Gardens.

He was born Aug. 21, 1922 in Buena Vista to Peter J. and Myrna L. Yocum; was a veteran of World War II; was in the dairy business for 25 years working at Borden Dairy from 1954 to 1969 and at Fairmont Dairy from 1969 to 1979, the after retiring, he worked for Petey Childers Prescriptions from 1979 to 1993; was a charter member and deacon of Carlisle Baptist Church in Independence; and a member of American Legion Tirey J. Ford Post 21. He was predeceased by his siblings, Evelyn Yocum, John W. Yocum, Henry E. Yocum, Mary Lee Poindexter, and Eva Lou Hibbs.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Jessie Yocum of Independence, Mo.; a daughter, Carolyn McDonald, Independence, Kan.; a son, Dr. Russell "Chip" Yocum, Kansas City, Mo.; a sister, Marge Ingrahm, Oklahoma City, Okla.; and four grandchildren.

Kenyon Doak Brindley

Kenyon Doak Brindley, 36, of Conway, died Tuesday, June 10, 2003. Ken passed away after heroically saving the life of a drowning boy, and then attempting to rescue others in peril off the Gulf Coast of Florida. He was passionate about helping others whenever possible, even when this involved personal sacrifices or putting himself in harm's way.

Ken was born August 17, 1966, in Little Rock, son of Joe P. and Joann Doak Brindley of Maumelle. He had just celebrated 15 years of service at Acxiom Corporation. He was a graduate of Hendrix College and a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Keep Faulkner County Beautiful, and American Resort Development Association. Ken had a deep devotion for his family and community and also enjoyed boating and NASCAR.

Survivors are his wife, Melanie Kay; a daughter, Madeline Kay; a son, Kenyon Blake, all of Conway; and a host of friends and other relatives.

Ken was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Penn Brindley, and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Doak.

Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, June 16, 2003, at First United Methodist Church of Conway. Burial followed in Round Mountain cemetery. There was a general visitation Sunday at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, Conway, 501-327-7727.

Memorials may be sent to Acxiom Corporation c/o Jerry Adams, 301 Industrial Blvd., Conway, AR 72032 and will be donated to a charity to be designated by the family.
