Joseph Stephen Tugman
Joseph Stephen Tugman, age 56, a resident of New Boston, Texas died Monday, January 25, 2021, in Texarkana.

He was born August 17, 1964, in San Diego, California. Mr. Tugman worked in maintenance. He enjoyed working on vehicles, fishing and spending time with family especially with his grandchildren.

Mr. Tugman was preceded in death by his parents, Zane and Lottie Mae Collins Tugman; two brothers, Zane Tugman, Jr. and Gary Tugman; two sisters, Nancy Sullivan and Maria DeCosta.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Turner Tugman; one son and daughter-in-law, C.J. and Jessica Tugman of Horatio; one daughter, Katie Mae Mullins of De Queen; one step daughter and her fiancé, Jennifer Hilton and Kevin Luecke of Redwater, TX; one step son, Steven Burks of New Boston, TX; two sisters, Judy Downing and Betty Stiegler and a number of grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Tugman will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 29, 2021, at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Brother Homer Frachiseur officiating. Burial will follow in the Chapel Hill Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home, De Queen.

General viewing for Mr. Tugman will be held from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 28, 2021, at the funeral home chapel in De Queen.

The family requests that everyone wear a face mask and practice social distancing for safety.

Robert Dwayne “Bodene” Gilbert
Robert Dwayne “Bodene” Gilbert, age 61, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas, died Monday, January 25, 2021, in Hot Springs AR.

He was born December 28, 1959, in Dierks, Arkansas. Mr. Gilbert was a mechanic and worked for Weyerhaeuser. He enjoyed hunting and spending time with family. He was a member of Old Union Missionary Baptist Church.

Mr. Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Wendell and Marie Louise Eudy Gilbert; two brothers, Lee Von Gilbert and Rev. J.W. Gilbert.

He is survived by his wife, Connie Parker Gilbert; four daughters, Mandy Gilbert of Murfreesboro, AR, Sarah Gilbert of Hot Springs, Ashley Schulz of Wisconsin and Stacey Piggee of Dierks; eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild and one great grandchild on the way; three brothers, Larry Gilbert and Richard Gilbert of Lockesburg and Ronnie Gilbert of Dierks; one sister, Mary “Missy” Shepherd of Dierks and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Gilbert will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 29, 2021, at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church with Brother Donnie Davis and Ray Piggee officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunshine Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home, Dierks.

General viewing for Mr. Gilbert will be held from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 28, 2021, at the funeral home chapel in Dierks.

Laurenza Lansdell
Laurenza Lansdell, age 79, a resident of Foreman, Arkansas, died Sunday, January 24, 2021, in Texarkana.

She was born December 6, 1941, in Panki Bok, Oklahoma. She was full blood Choctaw and a member of the Choctaw Nation and she was also a member of Winthrop Methodist Church. She loved gardening, canning, sewing, and she loved talking on the phone. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her world.

Mrs. Lansdell was preceded in death by her parents, Levi and Missie Ashalintubbi Jones; four brothers, Herman, Wilton, Jimmy and Elton Jones; two sisters, Lillian LeFlore and Kathern Kordi and one great grandbaby in heaven.

She is survived by her husband Curtis Dale Lansdell, Sr.; three children and their spouses, Sharon and Ricky Hess of Winthrop; Curtis, Jr. and Pennie Lansdell of Foreman, Sheila and Frank Klitz of Winthrop; one sister, Faye Warford of Broken Bow; her grandchildren and spouses, Amber and Jimmy Duncan, Derek and Jaymee Hess, Jessica and Cody Gallagher, Landon Lansdell, Carley Klitz; two great grandchildren, Ava Hess and Wylie Hess; special friends, Jennifer Gillam and Margaret Knighten and a number of nieces and nephews and number of friends.

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Lansdell will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 27, 2021, at Alleene Cemetery Pavilion with Brother Phillip Smith officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home, De Queen.

Rose Diane Tollett
Rose Diane Tollett, age 46, a resident of Prescott, Arkansas, died Sunday, January 24, 2021, in Texarkana.

She was born December 4,1974, in Nashville, Arkansas. Mrs. Tollett was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was an CNA and stay at home mom; she enjoyed painting, arts and crafts, playing cards and loved butterflies and spending time with her husband and children and her dog Ginger.

Mrs. Tollett was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Rosa Lee Jenkins Barbre; two brothers, Steve Barbre and Larry Barbre.

She is survived by her husband Tony Tollett; three sons, Tony Tollett, Chance Tollett and Matthew Gill; three daughters, Niki Slaton, Josie Johnson and Jess Wall; three grandchildren, Makenzie Slaton, Axl Wall, Wynter Rose Hackler; two sisters, Sharon Holt and Linda Christopher; two brothers, Billy Barbre and David Barbre; two aunts, Jackie Wilson and Niki Null and a number of nieces, nephews and a number of friends.

Memorial service for Mrs. Tollett will be held at a later date.

Visitation for Mrs. Tollett will be held 4:00 – 8:00p.m., Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at the Wilkerson Funeral home in Dierks.

James Wesley Cannon
James Wesley Cannon, age 85, a resident of Fayetteville, Arkansas, died Tuesday, January 19, 2021, in Springdale.

He was born February 25, 1935 , in Dierks, Arkansas. Mr. Cannon graduated from Dierks High School and received a BSE and MSE from Henderson State. He also attended North Texas State & Arkansas State University to acquire his specialist in education degree. He was in the U.S. Army and served in Korea for two years. He retired as the superintendent of Greenland Public Schools in 1999. He served on the Washington County Equalization board for many years, he was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Fayetteville and enjoyed going to auctions and spending time with family and friends.

Mr. Cannon was preceded in death by his parents, Herman “Shorty” and Nina Kesterson Cannon; two sisters, Euna Faye Ausam and Louise Blackwood and two brothers, Billy Frank Cannon and Herman Josh Cannon.

He is survived by his wife Joan McCaskill Cannon of Fayetteville, Arkansas; one son, James Eric Cannon of Farmington, Arkansas; one daughter, Krista Cannon of Fayetteville, Arkansas and her fiancé, Jason Coats of Covington, Tennessee.

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Cannon will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, January 23, 2021, at McHorse Cemetery with Brother Larry Fry officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home, De Queen.

In lieu for flowers donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Arkansas Children’s Hospital, 1 Children’s Way, Little Rock, AR 72202.

Ernestine Shelton
Ernestine Shelton, age 70, a resident of Mena, Arkansas, died Sunday, January 17, 2021 in Mena.

She was born March 4, 1950, in Shawnee, Oklahoma. She loved God, her family and her friends and tried every day to live by faith and to set the best example of that for everyone who knew her. Her greatest joy came from her girls, her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She loved to read and work jigsaw puzzles and enjoyed creating a scavenger hunt every year for Thanksgiving. She was a Green Bay Packers fan. She never failed to call or to send some kind of card or note to remind those she loved just how much she loved them.

Mrs. Shelton was preceded in death by her father, Ernest C. Shelton, Sr.; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Darrel Chambers, Eugene and Mona Shelton and E.C. Shelton; a son-in-law, Ty Schlomer and the father of her daughters, Dwight Sargent.

She is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Michele and David Wilcher of Ogden, Arkansas, Vicki and Greg Shockley of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Tammy and Danny Bond of Hunting ton, Arkansas and Jana and Junior Cursh of Hooks, Texas; one brother, Larry Shelton of Horatio, Arkansas; two sisters, Tammy Riggs of Norman, Oklahoma and Teresa Lancaster of Louisiana; ten grandchildren, Scarlett, Tyler and Trevor Schlomer, Hali McElroy, Blake Thompson, Daniel, Dustin and Tiffany Bond, Brook Wells and Mikalyn Cursh; Thirteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and friends.

A memorial service for Mrs. Shelton will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 23, 2021 at the Wickes Methodist Church Fellowship Hall in Wickes, Arkansas.

Flowers may be sent to 1232 Hwy. 71 South, Ashdown, Arkansas 71822.

Diane Barton
Diane Barton, 55, of Whitney TX, passed away in her sleep on December 14, 2020. She was born May 29th, 1965 in Vivian, Louisiana.

Diane is preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Ann Barton of Foreman, AR, and by her siblings – Ralph Barton Jr., Walter Edwin Barton, Nellie Patricia Barton.

Diane is survived by her brother Robert Barton, her children, and grandchildren along with nieces and nephews. Children include Thomas Ralph Knighten of Texarkana, TX, Amy Roxane Hartley and her spouse Christopher Hartley of Springdale, AR, Jeremy Knighten of Fort Worth, TX and Kerry Knighten of Foreman, AR. Grandchildren include Nyla Knighten, Cameron & Sebastian Hartley, Orianna Knighten, Jeremy Knighten, Jr., Hayden Knighten, Zoie Blankenship, and Kilynn Knighten. She is also survived by her nieces and a nephew: Krystal Jackson Williams, Amanda Deloach Tiner, Lisa Deloach Henslee, Michael Barton, Mandy Barton Stewart, & Tara Barton.

Graveside Service for Diane Barton will be Sunday, January 24th at 2:00 P.M. at Gravelly Cemetery in Foreman, Arkansas. Thomas Cleghorn will officiate the service.
