Imogene Blagg
Mrs. Imogene Blagg, age 72, resident of Dierks, died Friday, April 25, 2003 in Howard County Memorial Hospital in Nashville.
Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 28 in Fellowship cemetery near Dierks with Rev. Henry Bateman officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
She was born March 3, 1931 in Dierks to Fletcher and Robbie Stokes Nichols; was a retired beautician; a former employee of Jan-EZ Plating Company in Nashville; and was a Baptist.
She is survived by her husband, To, L. "Stormy" Blagg of Dierks; one son, Gary Blagg of Denison, Tex.; one brother, F.M. "Jr." Nichols of Hot Springs; two granddaughters; and two nieces and one nephew.
Ruthie Lee Watson
Mrs. Ruthie Lee Watson, age 83, formerly of Green’s Chapel, died Monday, April 28, 2003.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 3 in Green’s Chapel United Methodist Church with Terrell Halland and Gary Wiles officiating. Burial will follow in Green’s Chapel cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home of De Queen.
She was born April 3, 1920 in Provo to Rufus and Nora Holland Batey; was a mail carrier; a homemaker; and a member of Green’s Chapel Methodist Church. She was predeceased by her husband, Fletcher Henry Watson on Aug. 11, 1990; one daughter, Doris Love; and infant son; two brothers; and two sisters.
She is survived by one sister, Pearl McWhorter of De Queen; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 1 at the funeral home.
Jennie M. Mason
Jennie M. Mason of Grannis, died Thursday, May 29, 2003 in Fort Smith.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 31 in Wickes Pentecostal Church with Bro. Chris Burke officiating. Cremation followed under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home of De Queen.
She was born Dec. 13, 1937 in Denton, Tex., to James Ralph and Mamie Mae Sweatman Sparks; was a counselor; a member of Wickes Pentecostal Church; and active in the Foster Grandparent Program.
She is survived by one son, Robert Hampton of London; one daughter, Kathryn Hampton of Vidalia, La.; one sister, Joyce Shaw of Grannis; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Viewing was held at the church beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
Audrey Wynona Williamson
Mrs. Audrey Williamson, age 69, resident of De Queen, went to Heaven to be with the Lord on May 22, 2003. She was a wife, mother, and "Nana", and will be missed by those who knew and loved her.
Audrey was born in Grannis, Arkansas, on April 9, 1934 to Marson and Stella Barnes of Hatton, Arkansas; was a homemaker; attended the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Umpire; and had a passion for embroidering and growing beautiful flowers.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Winston Williamson, and a son, Donnie Williamson.
She is survived by her five loving children and their spouses: daughter Jackie and Steve Penley and their children, Donnie, Jessica, and Nicole of Reno, Nevada; daughter Debbie and John Bergquist and their children, Brianne and Haylee of De Queen, Arkansas; deceased son Donnie's child, Mickey of Little Rock, Arkansas and Mickey's son Ethan of Glenwood, Arkansas; daughter Karla and Glenn Hawthorne and their children, Ryan, Justin, and Chris of Dierks, Arkansas; son Terry and Belinda Williamson and their children, Kristen and Jeff, and Kristen's daughter Kailey of De Queen, Arkansas; son Steve and Vickie Williamson and their children Dustin, Darrin, Stephanie, and Cody of Ashdown, Arkansas. Surviving her also are her three sisters: Linda James of Mill City, Oregon; Juanita Wiley of Burns, Oregon; and Beverly Canada of Camden, Arkansas; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral for Mrs. Audrey Williamson was held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 26, 2003 in the Grannis cemetery with Rev. Faron Rogers officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.
Charlie Smith
Mr. Charles Hillman Smith, age 86, resident of De Queen, died Sunday, June 1, 2003 in the De Queen Regional Medical Center.
He was born to Thomas Patton and Beulah Frances McGuire Smith in De Queen, on January 11, 1917.
He worked for the KCS Roundhouse in De Queen for 27 years. He also worked for the De Queen Public Schools from 1964 until his retirement in July of 2002 at the age of 85 years. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army Railroad Division. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of De Queen, a 50 year member of the Sweet Home Masonic Lodge #461, and the Eastern Star #241. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, the De Queen Public Schools and the De Queen Leopards.
He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers: Lawrence, Bill, Ed, Ebbie, Walter, Jimmy, and Jack Smith; one sister: Hazel Polk; and his wife of 52 years, Irene Marie Hargis Smith in August of 2002.
He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law: Patti and Richard Dempsey of De Queen; three grandchildren: Shane Dempsey of Gillham; Shana Dempsey of Albuquerque, New Mex.; and Morgan Maree Dempsey of De Queen; three great-grandchildren: Kelly and Jake Dempsey of Gillham, and Zachary Dempsey of Alma, Arkansas.
Funeral services for Mr. Charlie Smith were held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 3, 2003 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Tom Williams, Minister, officiating. Burial with Masonic Rites followed in the Gillham cemetery under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home.
The family received friends at the funeral home from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, June 2nd.
Jose Miguel Ortiz
Jose Miguel Flores Ortiz, age 19, resident of De Queen, died Saturday, May 17, 2003.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Monday, May 1 in Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Father John Kerr officiating. Burial was in Coatzacoalcus Vera Cruz, Mexico.
He was born Nov. 1, 1983 in Comaccaco Tabasco, Mexico to Jose Bentura Manuel Flores Castro and Maria Elba Ortiz Hernandez; and was employed by Tyson Foods.
He is survived by his parents and siblings; Gonzalo Flores Ortiz, Enedina Flores Ortiz, and Manuel Flores Ortiz.
Ida Mae Clark
Ida Mae McGuire Clark, age 85, resident of Millington, Tenn., died February 19, 2003.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Feb. 22 in First United Methodist Church in Millington, Tenn. Burial followed in Woodhaven cemetery.
She was born in Prescott to the late Saxon P. and Ida Dillon McGuire; was a graduate of Prescott High School, Southern Arkansas University, and the University of Arkansas; organist for 52 years at First United Methodist Church in Millington; and a former piano teacher. She was predeceased by her husband, Merle Dean Clark; and a sister, Ethel Rae McGuire Ferguson.
She is survived by two daughters, Betty Sigler of Millington, Tenn., and Rebecca Clark of Mandeville, La.; one son, William D. Clark of Memphis, Tenn.; one sister, Annie Dean McGuire Rodgers of Bellevue, Wash.; one brother, Dr. William S. McGuire of Corvallis, Ore.; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Brenda Lou Webb
Mrs. Brenda Lou Parson Webb, age 58, resident of Lockesburg, died Friday, May 23, 2003 at her home.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 27 in Calvary Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Wesley Blankenship officiating. Burial followed in the Coulter Addition of the Lockesburg cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
She was born May 9, 1945 in Honey Grove, Tex., to Jess Willard and Gracie Bell Forehand Parson; was a Nurses Aide; a seamstress; and a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. She was prede-ceased by her husband, Woodrow Clifton Webb in 1998.
She is survived by one daughter, Sheila Simmons of Bridgeport, Tex.; one son, Wendell Webb of Lockesburg; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
