Julie Katherine Leard
Julie Katherine Leard of De Queen died Friday, May 9, 2003 at the age of 59.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 12, 2003 at 2 p.m. at the Geneva Missionary Baptist Church.
Mrs. Leard was the former owner of Julie’s on the Square in downtown De Queen and a member of the Geneva Missionary Baptist Church.
She was predeceased by her father, Marvin H. Dyer.
She is survived by her husband, Charles M. Leard; three children, Brian Leard and Kelly Cowden, both of Benton, and Justin Leard, of Rogers; her mother, Betty Dyer of San Jose, Calif.; two brothers, Chuck Dyer of Chandler, Ariz., and Bill Dyer of San Jose, Calif.; seven grandchildren and a number of nieces, and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Geneva Mission Fund, Geneva Missionary Baptist Church, 188 Geneva Church Rd., De Queen.
Mildred Haley Martin
Mildred Haley Martin, age 97, resident of Avery, Tex., died Thursday, May 15, 2003 at the home of her daughter, Patsy Collins, De Queen.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 18 in Avery United Methodist Church with Rev. Pete Adrian officiating. Burial followed in Lydia cemetery, under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.
She was born Nov. 23, 1905 in Avery, Tex., to John Carroll and Ocie Smyth Haley; was a retired school teacher after 42 years; and was a member of Avery United Methodist Church and Retired Teachers Association. She was predeceased by her husband, Quinton Martin; a son, Jackie Wayne Martin; and a granddaughter, Carol Ann Collins Yates.
She is survived by two sons, Glenn Martin of Houston, Tex., and Dr. James Martin of Avery, Tex.; one daughter, Patsy Ruth Collins of De Queen; one sister, Lillian Clark of Mt. Pleasant, Tex.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Marlin Lynn Crabb, Sr.
Marlin Lynn Crabb, Sr., age 77, a resident of Dierks, AR died Tuesday, December 7, 2010 in Nashville, AR.
He was born March 8, 1933 in Como, TX. He worked for the Texas Highway Department, was a Baptist and a member of the National Guard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Jerome and Eunice Vivian Watson Crabb.
He is survived by a special friend, Betty Dinger of Dierks; two sons, Marlin Lynn Crabb, Jr. and Mark Samuel Crabb, both of Irving, TX; a sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Claude Bottoms of Mineral Springs, AR; close friends, Dena Darling, Tammy and Roddy Smith, Gary and Carrie Dinger, Ken Dinger and Frank Dinger, Jr.; and many other friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Crabb will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 11, 2010 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in Dierks with Danny White officiating. Burial will follow in the Harmony cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, December 10, 2010 at the funeral home in Dierks.
Johnny Wayne Needham
Johnny Wayne Needham, age 48, a resident of Lockesburg, AR died Thursday, December 9, 2010 in Nashville, AR.
He was born April 18, 1962 in Nashville, AR. He worked at the Tyson Feed Mill in Nashville and was a member of the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Lockesburg.
He is survived by his parents, Chloe and Wilma Martin Needham of Lockesburg; his brothers and sisters, Charlotte Janes of Dierks, AR, Phyllis Turner of Dierks, Lewis Needham of Lockesburg, Betty Jester of Wake Village, TX, Peggy McCormick of Benton, AR and Becky Needham of Horatio, AR; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mr. Needham will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 13, 2010 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in De Queen with Rev. Wesley Blankenship and Rev. Wallace Wooten officiating. Burial will follow in the Bellville cemetery.
Lois Ellen Mitchell
Mrs. Lois Ellen Mitchell, age 84, a resident of De Queen, died Monday, December 6, 2010, in the De Queen Medical Center.
She was born May 22, 1926 in De Queen. She was a cook, waitress and a member of the Church of the Nazarene.
Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by her parents, George and Evie Jones; and her husband, Archie Ray Mitchell.
She is survived by one son, Paul Walker of De Queen; three grandsons and one granddaughter.
Graveside Funeral Services for Mrs. Mitchell will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 8, 2010 in the Cossatot cemetery with Steve Chenoweth officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
Helen Marjorie Kiser Williams
Helen Marjorie Kiser Williams, age 90, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Thursday, December 23, 2010 in De Queen.
She was born September 26, 1920 in Burkburnett, Texas, to Clarence Elmer and Eva Turner Kiser. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lyde B. Williams Sr.; one brother, Elmer Kiser and one sister, Doris Hendricks Verhine.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Lyde Williams, Jr. and wife Glenda; Earl and Lenda Williams; and James and Juanita Williams all of De Queen ; one daughter and son-in-law, Mary and James Harris of Dierks; one brother, Walter Lynn Kiser of Houston, Texas; eight grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Williams will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 24, 2010 in the Chapel Hill cemetery with Rodger Neeley officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
Metah Belle Gentry Phillips
Metah Belle Gentry Phillips, age 87, a resident of Grannis, AR passed away Saturday, December 24, 2010 at her home.
She was born on August 10, 1923. She was co-founder of Bob’s Grocery in Grannis and was a loving mother, grandmother, a homemaker and a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Norville H. “Tuffy” Phillips; and a son, Norville Wayne Phillips; and her parents, Jess and Johnnie Gentry.
She is survived by two sons, Ronnie Phillips and Bob Phillips of Grannis; one daughter, Sue Gibson of Broken Bow, Oklahoma; a special granddaughter, Candi Frachiseur of Grannis; five grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Phillips will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 28, 2010 in the Chapel Hill cemetery with Roger Robbins officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
Mark Douglas Young
Mark Douglas Young, age 42, a resident of Fayetteville, Arkansas died Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at his home.
He was born September 4, 1968 in Texarkana, Texas. He was a member of the Greenbrier Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Andy and Vira Young and Wilbur and Lucy Jackson.
He is survived by two sons, Andy Young and Nathan Young both of Ozark, Arkansas; his father, Max Young of Clinton, Arkansas; his mother, Gloria (Jackson) Giles of Texarkana, Arkansas; three sisters, Angie Shannon of Fayetteville, Amy White of North Little Rock, Arkansas and Staci Duckworth of Dallas, Texas; three brothers, Jimmy Young of Fayetteville, Jason Young of Greenbrier and Max Young II of North Little Rock, and a number of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Graveside Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 3, 2010 in the Green Plains cemetery with Bro. Billy Tom Young officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.
The family will receive friends from 7:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, December 2nd, at the funeral home in Dierks.
