Miss Brenda Zaragoza
Miss Brenda Marie Zaragoza, age 27, resident of Wickes, Arkansas, passed from this life on Sunday, July 19, 2020, in Lockesburg, Arkansas.

She was the third of four children born to Adrian Zaragoza and Lucrecia Barrera Zaragoza on December 7, 1992 in San Luis Obispo, California. Brenda worked as a receptionist for Lansdell Family Clinic in De Queen and Howard Memorial Hospital in Nashville. She was member of Temple Maranatha in Wickes. Brenda enjoyed being outdoors and going to the movies, but most of all, she cherished the time spent with her family and her daughter, Adalynn.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Adalynn Nichole Bevis of Wickes, Arkansas; her parents, Adrian and Lucrecia Zaragoza of Wickes, Arkansas; two sisters, Margarita Zaragoza and companion Francisco Trinidad, and Edith Zaragoza and companion Josh Elizondo, all of De Queen; one brother, Adrian Zaragoza of De Queen; four nephews, Jairdan Elizondo, Christian Trinidad, Cody Trinidad and Zayden Trinidad, all of De Queen; one niece, Caeli Zaragoza of De Queen; as well as, other relatives and a host of friends.

The family of Miss Brenda Zaragoza have postponed services until further notice.

Mrs. Geraldine Routh
Mrs. Geraldine Bryan Routh, age 85, resident of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, passed from this life on Monday, July 20, 2020, at McCurtain Memorial Hospital, Idabel, Oklahoma.

She was born November 13, 1934 in Broken Bow to the late Lester and Thelma Gertrude Hankins Bryan, the oldest of six children. She was a member of Oak Hill Independent Assembly of God Church and was a homemaker. She married the love of her life, Herbert Lyn Routh, on December 4, 1954 in the Chapel Hill Community of Sevier County. Geraldine enjoyed spending time at home, going to church and reading, but most of all, she cherished the time spent with her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of over 55 years, Herbert Routh; a granddaughter-in-law, Holly Lacefield; two brothers-in-law, Ruel Hodges and Lemuel Key; and a sister-in-law, Peggy Bryan.

She leaves to cherish her memory, two sons, Scott Routh of De Queen and Jerry (Sharon) Routh of Lockesburg; three daughters, Gwenda (Jesse) Lacefield of Broken Bow, Brenda (Ray) Butler of Broken Bow and Nancy (Barry) Melniker of Texarkana, Texas; eight grandchildren, Chris, Bradley, Brandon, Brent, Kevin, Stephanie, Robbie and K’Leeh; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three brothers, Tommy (Roma Lee) Bryan of Foreman, Gene (Queta) Bryan of Kellum, and Kenneth Bryan of Lockesburg; two sisters, Geneva Hodges of De Queen and Joan Key of De Queen; as well as, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Private Funeral Services for Mrs. Geraldine Routh will be held Wednesday, July 22, 2020, with Bro. John Hollinghead officiating. Burial will be held at Mt. Ida Cemetery, De Queen, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home of De Queen.

Ms. Davida Cooper
Ms. Davida Lynn Cooper, age 38, resident of De Queen, Arkansas, passed peacefully from this life on Sunday, July 19, 2020, at home, surrounded by her loving family.

Davida was born January 30, 1982 in Dumas, Texas to Robert Mann and Estella Martinez Cooper, the first of two children. She was a 2000 graduate of Dumas High School. Davida was well known in our community and beyond from her work at Country Girls Café and Walmart. She was most proud of her opportunities with First Baptist Church De Queen. She touched countless lives around De Queen and surrounding communities during her time as Pre-K teacher of Wee Center and later as Director of Children’s Ministry. Davida will be remembered most by her infectious smile, selfless character and loving personality. She enjoyed scrapbooking, crafts and was a talented artist, but most of all, she cherished her time spent with the church, youth, her family and friends.

Davida was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Arcenio and Juanita Martinez; her paternal grandfather, Robert (Bob) Cooper; two uncles, Abel Luna, Jr. and David Martinez; and one aunt, Amelia Rodriguez.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory, one daughter, Brielle Laine Cooper of De Queen, Arkansas; her parents, Robert and Estella Cooper of De Queen, Arkansas; one brother, Bobby David Cooper of Fort Polk, Louisiana; paternal grandmother, Lucy Cooper of De Queen, Arkansas; aunts, uncles, cousins, the King Family and other friends, too numerous to list.

Memorial Services for Ms. Davida Cooper will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at First Baptist Church De Queen with Bros. Josh Herweck and Micah Martin officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home of De Queen. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., tonight, at First Baptist Church.

The use of a face mask or covering will be required during the time of visitation and memorial service.

Mrs. Janet Lowrey
Mrs. Janet Gamble Lowrey, age 78, resident of De Queen, passed peacefully from this life on Saturday, July 18th, 2020 at her home.

She was born to Frank and Helen Gamble on March 13th, 1942 in De Queen. Janet married the love of her life, Ronald Lowrey on March 18th, 1967.

Janet was a graduate of De Queen High School and worked many different jobs over the years from helping her Dad run and cook at “Frank’s” (where she learned to cook a mean Frank Burger) to being a homemaker, but her favorite job was being a wife, mother, and Grandma to her Grandchildren and especially being a foster grandparent at Parkhill Pre-School in De Queen.

Janet faithfully attended the Presbyterian Church of De Queen for most of her adult life and loved her church family there but later became a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church. She was a beautiful soul that never met a stranger, especially on her daily trips to Wal-Mart; she truly and unconditionally loved all people and animals. She was often reminded by her daughters to refrain from picking up and giving rides to strangers off the side of the road when she had her grandchildren with her. Janet also did not mind letting any deer hunter know they better stay clear of the deer and wildlife in her yard. She enjoyed listening and dancing to country music and was the original groupie for the Gene Argenbright Band for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister-in-law, Patricia Vanmeter and a son-in-law, Dwayne Miller.

She leaves to cherish her memory, one brother, Jay Gamble of De Queen; her husband of 53 years, Ron; three children, Sandy Miller-Huntsberger of De Queen, Leah Harper (Joey) of Lockesburg, and Brett Lowrey of Conway; seven grandchildren, Ashley Coleman, Callie Miller, Morgan Miller, and Blake Lowrey (Marley) all of De Queen, Grayson Coleman of Biloxi, MS, Austin O’Rand (Jordan) of Harrah Oklahoma and Alec Lowrey of Little Rock; two great-grandchildren, Carson Coleman of De Queen and Dallis O’Rand of Harrah, OK; as well as nieces, nephews, a host of great friends and her beloved baby, Dash, the second smartest dog in the world.

Private Services for Mrs. Janet Lowrey will be held at a later time. Cremation Arrangements are under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

Mr. Dwight Sargent
Mr. William Dwight Sargent, age 73, resident of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, passed from this life on Thursday, July 16, 2020, at home, with his family by his side.

He was born to William Royce and Eula Faye Powell Sargent on December 10, 1946 in De Queen, Arkansas. He was a 1965 graduate of Wickes High School. Dwight served with the National Guard and was a Truck Driver. He worked for several companies over the years including Pilgrim’s Pride, DC Trucking and most recently, Rolling B Ranch. He enjoyed dancing and was a member of “Square B” dancing club in Broken Bow. He also enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Linda Ann Winkley; one brother-in-law, David Piearcy; one son-in-law, Ty Schlomer; and one step son-in-law, Tony Treat.

Dwight is survived by his wife of 27 years, Brenda Sargent of Broken Bow, Oklahoma; four daughters and sons-in-law, Michele (David) Wilcher of Ogden, Arkansas, Vicki (Greg) Shockley of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Tamera (Danny) Bond of Fort Smith, Arkansas, and Jana (Junior) Cursh of Hooks, Texas; his step children, Jeanie Treat and Jimbo Holder, both of Broken Bow, Oklahoma; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Virginia Piearcy of Justin, Texas and Carolyn (Gordon) Skelton of Valliant, Oklahoma; his daughter’s mother, Ernestine Shelton of Mena, Arkansas; as well as, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends, too numerous to list.

Graveside Services for Mr. Dwight Sargent will be held at 10:00 A.M., Sunday, July 19, 2020 at Oak Grove Cemetery, Wickes, with Bro. Dave Piearcy officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Saturday, at the funeral home.

Due to current health conditions, the use of a face mask or covering is recommended during the service. Please keep a safe and comfortable distance from one another. Hand sanitizer will be available.

Robert Mann (Bob) Cooper, Sr.
Mr. Robert Mann (Bob) Cooper, Sr., age 81, resident of De Queen, Arkansas, passed from this life on Wednesday, July 15, 2020, at his home.

Robert, affectionately known as “Bob,” was the youngest of six children born to David Spears and Minnie Jean Blackburn Cooper on March 10, 1939 in Lexington, Kentucky. He was a 1959 graduate of Bryan Station High School in Lexington, where he served as Vice President of their FFA Chapter. Bob married the love of his life, Lucy Logan Duncan, on July 23, 1959 in Lexington. He proudly served his country with the United States Marine Reserves and attended church at the Gillham Methodist Church. He was a member of AFGE Local 2876 and 3141, where he served in the capacity of Secretary/Treasurer and President. He was also a NARFE Legislative Officer. Bob received recognition and numerous awards for his 32 years of service as a Food Inspector for USDA. He enjoyed photography, gardening, flowers and fishing, but most of all, he cherished the time spent with his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, David Cooper, Jr.; three sisters, May Howard, Agnes Stevens and Patty Prather; and one son-in-law, Abel Luna, Jr.

Bob leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of almost 61 years, Lucy Cooper of De Queen; four children, Robert Cooper, Jr. and wife Estella of De Queen, John Cooper and his wife Cheryll of Seneca, South Carolina, Alesa Luna of Amarillo, Texas and Julia Marfut and husband Mike of Bremerton, Washington; six grandchildren, Davida, Heather, Bobby, Bethany, Jenifer and Robert; eleven grandchildren, Savannah, Madison, Brielle, Norah, Hannah, Derek, Kira, Jordan, Nathan, Jeremy and Rachel; one great-great-grandson, Leander; one sister, Jean Heaton of Columbus, Ohio; as well as, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral Services for Mr. Bob Cooper, Sr., will be held at 9:30 A.M., Saturday, July 18, 2020 at the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Leah Arnold officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Mt. Ida Cemetery, De Queen, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home of De Queen. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Friday, at the funeral home.

Due to current health concerns, the use of a face mask or covering will be required during the funeral service and visitation. Please keep a safe and comfortable distance of six (6) foot from one another while in the funeral home. Hand sanitizer will be available.

Pauline Leard
Mrs. Pauline Davis Leard (100), passed away on July 13, 2020 surrounded by loved ones. She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Raymond D. Leard, two brothers and one sister. She was born on August 11, 1919 in Gillham, Arkansas where most of her life was spent. Pauline was a very loving and thoughtful sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Pauline is survived by her two sisters, Jean Bertch, Nora Graves and her husband Bud, as well as her brother AT (Runt) Davis of Mena, Arkansas. She is also survived by her two daughters, Macaline Cunningham and her husband Charles of Kansas City, Missouri, and Vada Hermon of Georgetown, Texas. She also leaves behind three grandchildren, Scott Cunningham of Kansas City, Missouri, Lisa Herring and her three children of Saratoga, Wyoming, and Jeff Hermon and his two children of Austin, Texas.

Graveside Services for Mrs. Pauline Leard will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, July 17, 2020 at Mineral Cemetery, Gillham. Burial will follow under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

Due to current health conditions, the use of a face mask or covering is recommended during the service. Please keep a safe and comfortable distance from one another. Hand sanitizer will be available.
