James Lynn Clowdis
Mr. James Lynn Clowdis, age 87, a resident of Winthrop, Arkansas, died Thursday, July 9, 2020, in Texarkana, Texas.

Mr. Clowdis was born September 27, 1932, in Winthrop, Arkansas. He was an Arkansas Alcohol Beverage Control Agent and a member of Winthrop Baptist Church. Mr. Clowdis was a 32 degree Mason and a member of Rocky Comfort Lodge and Silver Hills Eastern Star.

Mr. Clowdis was preceded in death by his parents, Derrel Alexander and Susie Jane Brown Clowdis; his wife, Shelba “Belle” Clowdis; one sister, Mary Jo Little; and one niece, Shelly Bishop.

He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Joe Longacre of Horatio; two granddaughters and their spouses, Kandie and Ethan Gingras of Heath, Texas and Devin and Ben Sessions of Dallas, Texas; four great grandchildren, Ellie Gingras, Cal Gingras, Isaac Sessions, and Lucy Sessions; four nieces, Lisa Martin, Phyllis Tabler, Vonda Marchand, and Tracy Hemeyer; two nephews, Mike Altenbaumer and Terry Altenbaumer; along with several great nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Clowdis will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 11, 2020, at the Campground Cemetery Pavilion with Audie Dawson and Jimmy Dale officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen, Arkansas.

A general viewing will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, July 10th at the funeral home.

Wanda Colleen Aguilar
Mrs. Wanda Colleen Aguilar, age 71, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas died Wednesday, July 8, 2020, in Little Rock, Arkansas.

She was born March 24, 1949, in Evansville, Indiana. She was a janitor for Pilgrim’s Pride and loved her grandkids and great grandkids. Mrs. Aguilar loved horses, fishing, gardening, and watching the grandkids play sports. She was loved by all her neighbors.

Mrs. Aguilar was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Ezra LeRoy and Dorothy Gene Rowley Callahan and her children’s father, Ira Derrill Derrick in March of 1999.

She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Denise and Evaristo Pedraza of De Queen and Dylan Derrick of Fayetteville, North Carolina; six grandkids, Erika Gutierrez and husband, Vicente, Sasha Castrejon, Colton Derrick, Daniel Tinajero, Lucas Tinajero and wife, Maggie, and Rose Tinajero; and five great grandkids and one boy due in September.

Kenneth David Brown
Kenneth David Brown, age 70, passed away Monday, July 6, 2020 after a hard fought, four-year battle with esophageal cancer.

He was born Dec 14, 1949 in Hot Springs, Arkansas to the late Calvin Clem Brown and Maxine Inez Norman Brown. He is preceded in death by his only sibling, Norma ‘Su’ Brown Warner.

Ken is survived by his wife of 25 years, Terri Lambeth Brown and three children, Jeremy (& Nikki) Gingery of De Queen, Jessica (& David Jensen) of Georgetown, Texas, and Kelli (& Darrell) Williams of Texarkana, Texas. He also leaves behind six grandchildren, who love him dearly and brought him much joy. Kylee and Kaden McGaha, Presli and Bristol Jensen and Grady and Ava Gingery. Other family to cherish his memory are brothers-in-law Dave Braughton of Hot Springs, Gary (& Bonnie) Lambeth, Barry (& Charlene) Lambeth of De Queen, a special cousin Larry Fikes of Norman, Oklahoma, numerous nieces and nephews as well as a host of friends, colleagues and comrades in arms.

He graduated high school in Denver Colorado, began private flight training and started college in the fall. He made the decision to leave school after the first semester and volunteered for Vietnam. There he earned several medals, including the Bronze Star with oak leaf clusters, two Distinguished Flying Cross’ as well as other medals.

He served one term ‘in country’, 1968-1969, as a Huey helicopter pilot during which his ship was shot by enemy fire on two occasions and his flying skills were instrumental in the capture of an enemy machine gun. After his tour in Vietnam Ken was a flight instructor at Fort Rucker. Upon his Honorable Discharge from the Army he made a civilian career of flying helicopters ending with a 15-year stint at Weyerhaeuser Aviation based in De Queen, Arkansas.

The discipline, loyalty, and patriotism he learned in the Army never left him. He is a true Patriot as friends and family will attest.

Due to Covid-19 there will be a come and go public visitation Saturday July 11, from 10 am to 1 pm in the Wilkerson Funeral Home chapel. Outdoor services will be held Monday July 13, at 11 am at the Beacon Hill Seventh-Day Adventist cemetery.

The family would like to thank the Honorary pall bearers, Jack Eller, George Anzelmo, Larry Fikes and Barry Lambeth, all Vietnam Veterans, the Army, and the Arkansas Chapter of the Patriot Guard Riders for escorting our American Hero.

Flowers may be sent to Wilkerson Funeral Home or you may choose to honor Ken by donating to the Esophageal Cancer Action Network or the Wounded Warrior Project.

Ina Ruth Martz
Ina Ruth Martz was born June 5th 1928 in Lockesburg, AR. She passed from this Earth to Heaven on July 7th, 2020 at the age of 92 years old. She was a loving, caring, and kind mother and grandmother. She enjoyed visits from her family, family meals, reading, cooking, watching hummingbirds, tending to her flower beds, playing card games, sister trips, walking, and singing songs to her grandchildren.

Her death is proceeded by her spouse, Hollis Everette Martz; her son, Bobby Martz; her sisters, Noreen Martz, Goldya Knox, and Stella Middleton; and her brother, Garner Sharp.

She is survived by her children, Hollis Martz (Trudy Martz), Jetty Caple (Marvin Caple), Phil Martz (Pam Martz), Anita Helms (Kem Helms) and James Martz; her siblings, Willard Sharp, Betty Henderson, Ollie Taggart, and Gil Sharp; Twenty-two grandchildren and forty-four great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Mrs. Iva White
Mrs. Iva Ra-Karole Poole White, age 44, resident of Texarkana, Texas, passed from this life on Wednesday, July 8, 2020, at the Wadley Regional Medical Center, Texarkana, Texas.

She was born to Horace Gene and Deborah Odetta Haley Poole on December 29, 1975 in Texarkana. Iva received her Masters of Science in Accounting from Liberty University and worked as an Internal Auditor for Red River Federal Credit Union in Texarkana. She married the love of her life, David Lawrence White, on June 18, 1994 in Nash, Texas. She enjoyed crafts, shopping and entertaining, but most of all, she cherished the time spent with her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Garland Ra-Chelle Poole; and one sister-in-law, Nancy Poole.

Iva leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband of over 26 years, David White of Texarkana; their children, Breagan Destinee Ra-Chelle Negron and husband Victor Jose Negron of Texarkana, David Courland White and wife Jennifer Lynn White of Ashdown and Morgan Emily White of Texarkana; one step-daughter, Rachael Dawn White of Ashdown; six grandchildren, Easton, Adalyn, Calliope, Lillie, Tempest and Beauman; four brothers, Harold Poole of South Carolina, Jerry Poole and wife Ruth of Oregon, Horace Poole, Jr. and wife Tiffani of Genoa, Arkansas and Zachary Poole of Texarkana; one sister, Lisa Poole of Texarkana; as well as, one niece, Haley Alexis Ra-Chelle Poole; the Patterson family; other relatives and friends.

Private Services for Mrs. Iva White will be held at Millwee Cemetery, Horatio. Arrangements are under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

Patricia Gail Sowell
Ms. Patricia Gail Sowell, age 56, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas died Wednesday, July 8, 2020, in Nashville, Arkansas.

She was born June 10, 1964, in De Queen. Patricia was retired and enjoyed cooking and spending time with her grandkids.

Ms. Sowell was preceded in death by her parents, Bobbie D. and Josephine Annie Austin Derington; her grandparents, Walter and Erma Austin and O.C. and Faye Derington and Myrtle Hamilton; and one sister, Cynthia Derington Lang.

She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Bobbie Ward of De Queen and Jay Jay and Krista Ward of Horatio, Arkansas; one daughter and son-in-law, Kayla and James Maturino of De Queen; five grandchildren, Cash Ward, Bella Ward, Axel Ward, Efrain Maturino, and Sophia Maturino; one sister, Sheri Derington of De Queen; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Lloyd and Cindy Derington of Horatio and Alan Derington of De Queen; and one nephew, Colton Derington.

Graveside funeral services for Ms. Sowell will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 12, 2020, at Sweet Home Cemetery with Bishop Patrick Grant officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

Betty Fern Rink Culp
Mrs. Betty Fern Rink Culp, age 81, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Thursday, July 2, 2020 in Texarkana, Texas.

She was born November 26, 1938 in De Queen. She was a machinist, retired from Baldwin Piano and Sevier County Courthouse. She loved reading, traveling, entering contests and going to the casino.

Mrs. Culp was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Lee and Betty Ann Cook Rink; her husband, Harley Culp; one son, Autry Lee Avery; one brother, Virgil “Bud” Rink; and two infant brothers, Arthur Lee Rink and Charles Davis Rink;

She is survived by one son, Allan Avery of De Queen; one daughter, Terri Willmon of De Queen; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Charlene and “Cop” Bush of Wilton, Arkansas and M.V. “Doodle” and Jerry Boykin of Lockesburg, Arkansas; a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family from the Dallas area.

Funeral services for Mrs. Culp will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2020 in the Friendship Baptist Church with Bro. George Frachiseur officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

General viewing will be held on Monday, July 6, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Family requests that everyone remain safe and please, if possible, wear a face mask and practice social distancing for safety.
