Ricky Dean Jackson
Ricky Dean Jackson, age 61, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas died Thursday, March 12, 2020, in Texarkana, Texas.
He was born May 24, 1958, in Dallas, Texas. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by his mother, Donna Brown Jackson; one son, John Keith Jackson; and his grandparents.
He is survived by his wife, Becky Jackson; one son and daughter-in-law, Kenny and Vicki Jackson of Red Oak, Texas; one daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Nic Geremonte of Mineola, Texas; his father and stepmother, Kenneth and Margie Jackson of De Queen; one brother and sister-in-law, Keith and Elisa Jackson of Mesquite, Texas; one stepsister, Tammy DelDenno of Little Rock, Arkansas; one stepson, James Eakin of San Diego, California; his grandchildren, Averie and Kynlie Jackson, Braelyn Geremonte, Austin Cravens, and Peyson and Miley Eakin; and two nieces and a nephew.
There will be a private memorial at a later date. Cremation arrangements by Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
Wilma Dee Arnold Cogburn
Some people only walk this earth for a short time. Their departure reminds us that angels are watching over us. Our Granny rejoined her heavenly family and gained her wings on March 12, 2020 at the age of 87.
Wilma Dee Arnold was born February 13, 1933 in Dierks, Arkansas to Jeff and Beatrice Kitchens Arnold. She married Jewel Cogburn on December 3, 1951. Wilma was retired from Weyerhaeuser and Briar Plant. She loved to crochet, fish, quilt, hunt, and craft.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Johnny and Roger Arnold; a great granddaughter, Brooke Ackley; a son-in-law, Joe Stuard; and a daughter-in-law, Susan Cogburn.
Mrs. Cogburn is survived by three sons and a daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Beverly Cogburn and Garry and Larry Cogburn all of Dierks; two daughters and a son-in-law, Diane Alexander of Dierks and Carolyn and George Ackley of Nashville, Arkansas; one sister, Jeffie Roth of Dierks; and a sister-in-law, Leah Arnold of Nashville; 13 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Cogburn will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 14, 2020, at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in Dierks with Matt Cook, Jeffrey Mounts, and Bryan Chesshir officiating. Burial will follow in the Hickory Grove Cemetery in Dierks.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00, Friday, March 13th at the funeral home in Dierks.
The family will be at the home of Leigh and Rodney Starwalt, 146 Windy Hill in Dierks.
Cindy Lee Whisenhunt Bell
Cindy Lee Whisenhunt Bell, age 60, of De Queen, Arkansas died Thursday, March 12, 2020, in Nashville, Arkansas.
She was born July 31, 1959, in Columbus, Ohio. She was a homemaker and a Catholic.
Mrs. Bell was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel J. and Barbara Ann Spalletta Whisenhunt; one sister, Viola May Whisenhunt; and two brothers-in-law, Bobby Bell and Roger Bell.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Billy Bell; one son, Loyd Clayton Whisenhunt; four daughters, Billie Jo Bell, Sonia Lee Bell, Balinda Ann Kirby, and Kelli Ann Loving; one brother, Floyd Glenn Whisenhunt; and 11 grandchildren, one great grandchild, and a number of nieces and nephews.
There will be a memorial service at a later date. Cremation arrangements by Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
Glenda N. Swim
Glenda N. Swim, age 73, of Kerrville, Texas passed away unexpectedly on February 28, 2020 at TexSan Hospital in San Antonio, Texas.
Mrs. Swin was born August 21, 1946 in Idabel, OK to Autry D. and Ressie Cobb Wilson. She married Connie G. Swim on September 12, 1962 and continued her education graduating with the De Queen High School Class of 1964. They moved to Kerrville in 1965 where she was employed almost fifty years with Douville, Goldman & Associates until she retired on October 31, 2019.
Glenda was a very kind and loving mother to two children, five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Connie on November 18, 2019, her parents, a brother Adie D. Wilson, an infant brother, Jimmy Bay Wilson and two sisters, Pauline Faye Harrison and Doris B. Smith.
Survivors include one son, Murray Allen Swim, one daughter, Mary Christine Rodriguez and husband George, grandchildren Matthew Swim, Cecily George, Emily Swim, Bryan Ishmael and wife Caitlin, C.J. Cain and wife Dianna. In addition she is survived by her great grand-children, Darius, Michael, Alix, Kieran, Charles, Scarlett and Christopher, all of Kerrville, Texas.
She is also survived by three sisters, her twin, Linda Culp and Defrenzia Ruth Wilson, both of De Queen, AR, and Marie Hendrix and husband Tom of El Dorado, AR, and a brother-in-law Donnie R. Swim of Grand Prairie, TX. Also included are many nieces, nephews and special friends Randy Hinsley and Earl Pettigrew.
Viewing was held at Grimes Funeral Chapel in Kerrville, TX on March 3, 2020 from 5-7 PM
Graveside service was held on Wednesday March 4, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Garden of Memories Cemetery, officiated by Frankie Enloe under care of Grimes Funeral Chapel.
The family wishes to express sincere thanks to the doctors and nurses at TexSan Hospital for their heroic efforts.
Mrs. Betty Lynn Pickett Wade
Mrs. Betty Lynn Pickett Wade, age 73, resident of Salem, Oregon, passed from this life on Monday, March 9th in Salem, Oregon.
She was born to Rayburn and Flora Mae Turner Pickett on November 22, 1946 in De Queen, AR. She was a L.P.N. and worked at the jail in Lynn County, Oregon for many years. She loved fishing and playing Bingo, but mostly loved her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Fay Wade; one son, Fay Wade, Jr.; one daughter, Cynthia Christiansen.
She is survived by two daughters, Sherrie Green of Salem, Oregon and Demetria Moore of St. Helens, Oregon; two sons James Preston Green, Jr. of Lakeview, Oregon, and Curtis Wade of Albany, Oregon; one sister, Loretta McRae of De Queen, AR; and three brothers, James Leeroy Pickett of De Queen, AR, Jimmy Pickett of Rogers, AR, and Ronnie Pickett of Guyton, Georgia; two granddaughters, Kayla Green of Albany, Oregon and Brittany Green of Oregon; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Wade will be cremated in Salem, Oregon.
Mrs. Carrie Chaytor
Mrs. Carrie McGee Chaytor, age 83, resident of Prescott, Arkansas, passed from this life on Saturday, March 7, 2020 in Prescott.
She was born to Charlie Sam and Vera McGee on November 1, 1936 in Jonesboro, Louisiana. She was a housekeeper and member of Freedom Temple Church of God in Foreman. She enjoyed cooking and caring for her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, A.D. Chaytor; two sons, Calvin Leon Chaytor and Troy Lee Chaytor Walker; a grandson, Ronnie Oglesby; as well as, a number of siblings.
She is survived by one daughter, Mollie Marie Chaytor of Foreman; one son, A.D. Chaytor, Jr. of Seattle, Washington; as well as, three grandchildren, one great-grandchild, one sister, Sandra Vaughn and husband Leo, other relatives and friends.
Graveside services for Mrs. Carrie Chaytor will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at the Rhodes Cemetery, Ashdown, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.
Caleb Keja
Caleb Keja, age 62, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas died Thursday, February 27, 2020.
He was born January 16, 1958, in the Marshall Islands. He was a member of De Queen New Beginning’s Church and enjoyed fishing, baking, crafting, and making wedding rings.
Mr. Keja was preceded in death by his parents, Keja Laneab and Jaiberer; his wife Mita Lang Keja; and two sisters and one brother.
He is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Bien and Kimberly Keja of North Dakota, Kashton and Roberta Keja also of North Dakota, Jackson K. and Ruth of Spokane, Washington, and Kenji K. and Benciana of De Queen; two daughter and sons-in-law, Angela and Heleson Ruben of Berryville, Arkansas and Caltha and Logan House of North Dakota; two sisters, Ezra Heine and Tilla Laneab; one brother Hersha Laneab; and 30 grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Mr. Keja will be held from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 14, 2020, at the Faith and Deliverance center with Hersha Laneb officiating. Burial will follow in Redmen Cemetery.
Marshallese service will begin on 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 12th until Saturday the 14th.
