Billy Bob Cobb
Mr. Billy Bob Cobb, age 78, resident of Ashdown and former resident of Foreman, passed from this life on Saturday, March 7, 2020 in Ashdown.
He was born to Daniel Dee and Faye Louise Little Cobb on July 1, 1941 in Ashdown. He was a member of the United States Army and worked as a heavy equipment operator for Red River Army Depot for 26 years. He married the love of his life, Nona Marie Richardson, on January 9, 1970 in Foreman. He was a Methodist and former member of Wade’s Chapel Methodist Church. He enjoyed gardening, making animal calls, piddling in his shop, bartering, and his animals, but most of all, he cherished the time spent with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of over 37 years, Nona Marie Cobb; and three brothers, James Roland Cobb, Daniel Calvin Cobb and Donald R. Cobb.
He is survived by one sister, Patsy “Pat” Waren and husband Jimmy of Springdale; one brother, David Allen Cobb and wife Laura of Ashdown; one sister-in-law, Betty Jean Abercrombie and husband Ronnie of Foreman; as well as, 11 nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Graveside services for Mr. Billy Cobb will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at Marvin Cemetery in the Wallace Community of Little River County, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until service time, Wednesday, at the cemetery.
Inez Berniece Taylor
Mrs. Inez Berniece Young Taylor passed from this life March 7, 2020 at her home.
She was born December 12, 1922 in Horatio, Arkansas to William Thomas and Edna Pearl Sims Young. She graduated from Horatio High School in 1941. She attended Utterback Brown Business College in Danville, Illinois. Then came back to Horatio where she married Elve Taylor and they were farmers. To this union 5 children were born. Linda Carol, James Thomas “Jamie”, Anita Jane, Leesa Pearl, and Mary Louise “Lucy”. Mrs. Taylor bragged that she was worth 5 million dollars. She had 5 children and she wouldn’t take a million for either one of them. Inez and Elve liked to travel and they liked camping and trot line fishing.
Inez was a loyal companion for 60 years and a fair cook. She being the practical person requests no flowers at her funeral. She has already had hers and she said that flowers are here today and gone tomorrow. Any money spent on flowers could be used to help somebody somewhere.
Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Edna Young; her husband, Elve C. Taylor; one son, James Thomas Taylor; her siblings, Hazel Ruby Rust, Martha Louise Power, Verna La Fern McGough, Ruth Corene Ayers and Edna Beth Brooks; a grandson, Leslie Walker; and all of her in-laws.
She is survived by four daughters and three sons-in-law, Linda Carol Bishop, Anita Jane and Kurt Farquhar, Leesa Pearl and Wayne Kemp and Mary Louise “Lucy” and Jimmy Mize; her favorite daughter-in-law, Sandy Taylor; a special brother-in-law, Gerald Brooks; 11 grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
Graveside Funeral services for Mrs. Taylor will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2020 in the Belleville Cemetery Pavilion with Bro. Wesley Blankenship officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
The family will receive friends Monday, March 9th from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Bonita Harrison
Bonita Harrison, age 80, formerly of Lockesburg, Arkansas passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2020, in a Texarkana nursing home. She was born September 18, 1939, in De Queen, Arkansas to Grace Pickens Harrison and Emmett Edgar Harrison.
She graduated from Little Rock Central High School in 1958 and attended Capital City Business College in Little Rock. She was a Clerk Librarian at St. Vincent Infirmary before working as a Clerk Typist at Red River Army Depot for 27 years.
Bonita was a member of Belleville Methodist Church and a Worthy Matron in the Order of Eastern Star, Peach Valley, Chapter 586 in Lockesburg, Arkansas.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Hugh Thomas Harrison and Emmett Allen Harrison; one niece, Kathy Grace Harrison Robbins; and companion, Leroy Stoker.
Survivors include two nephews, Hugh Thomas Harrison, Jr. and wife Dana and Allen Albert Harrison and wife, Stephanie; a loving sister-in-law, Kathryn Harrison Metsker; and many other relatives and friends.
She loved cats and a special dog, Whiskers. Long Sunday afternoon drives were enjoyed.
Cremation arrangements by Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen, Arkansas. A private burial will be held at a later date.

Effie Lois Reed Brock
Effie Lois Reed Brock, age 93, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas died Thursday, March 5, 2020, at her home.
She was born November 12, 1926, in Nashville, Arkansas. She was a member of the Holly Creek Missionary Baptist Church, a farmer, an employee of the Dierks School System, and found happiness in fishing.
Mrs. Brock was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Leslie and Mamie Greenhaw Reed; her husband, Herman Mack Brock; and four brothers, Jimmy Reed, Vestal Reed, Wayne Reed, and D.B. Reed.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Rodney Ackley of Nashville, Arkansas and Glenda and Nelson Hogden of Dierks; three grandchildren, Stephanie Ray, Susan Jackson, and Lisa Tucker; seven great grandchildren and fourteen great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Brock will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 8, 2020, at the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in Dierks with Bobby Neal officiating. Burial will follow in Fellowship Cemetery.
Family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m., Saturday, March 7th at the funeral home in Dierks.
Leeona Evans Overturf
Leeona Evans Overturf left this earth to go to her heavenly home on March 2, 2020.
Leeona Overturf was born on July 8 of 1935. She was born to Lee and Lona Evans in Winthrop, Arkansas. She was the seventh child born of eight children. She is surpassed in death by her parents and her siblings.
Surviving Ms. Overturf is her son, Eric Overturf of Foreman, Arkansas; one grandson, Gary Overturf of Foreman; two granddaughters, Leanne Walker of Texarkana, and Emily (Blake) Jones of Winthrop; three great grandsons, Dayton Lee Seifert, Wesson Walker, and Silas Jones.
She was known for her love of basketball and playing professional basketball for the Texas Cowgirls from 1953-1955. Ms. Leeona was a member of King Ryder Church. She worked for TWA Airlines and State First National which she later retired from. She met several friends who became family to her. She also enjoyed being a member of the Winthrop School Restoration Committee, and keeping the memories alive for everyone who went to school there.
Leeona was an avid lover of “red birds” (cardinals), Elvis Presley, her magnolia tree, and most of all her family. One of her favorite past times was being able to spend time with her grandchildren. Once she retired you could always find her sitting on her front porch swing drinking coffee.
The family would like to thank Pleasant Manor Nursing Home, Encompass Hospice, Pine Crest Retirement Center and St. Michael’s for all of the care that was given to Ms. Overturf.
Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 6, 2020 at Pauley Cemetery with Scotty Smith and Perry Young officiating under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen, Arkansas.
Edna Lucinda Strickland
Edna Lucinda Strickland, age 70, a resident of Texarkana, Arkansas died Saturday, February 29, 2020, in Texarkana.
She was born January 9, 1950, in Port St. Joe, Florida. She was a homemaker and a Catholic.
Miss Strickland was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse Everett and Lillie Mae Hildebrand Strickland; one brother, Chuck Strickland; one niece, Tammy Wall; and one great niece, Tamra Potter.
She is survived by two sisters, Lillie Beebe and Derotha Biever; one brother, JD Strickland; four nephews, Richard Strickland, Jerry Strickland, Chuck Strickland, and Dewayne Potter; and a number of other nieces and nephews.
Cremation arrangements for Miss Strickland by Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen, Arkansas. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Billy Joe Bishop
Billy Joe Bishop, age 78, of Horatio, Arkansas died Friday, February 28, 2020, in Little Rock, Arkansas.
He was born March 21, 1941, in Houston, Texas. He was a machinist, a United States Navy Veteran, and attended Williamson Community Church.
Mr. Bishop was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon O. and Ruth Taylor Bishop; two brothers, Vernon Bishop, Jr. and Larry E. Bishop; and two sisters, Lorene Coleman and Ruth E. Pogue.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Ayers Bishop; two sons, Billy Bishop, Jr. (Rosalie) of Dallas, Texas and James Randall Bishop (Jeannine) of Las Vegas, Nevada; one daughter, Sheri Grove (David) of Little Rock, Arkansas; six grandchildren, Jaime Gannon, John Grove, Jessica Bishop, Sara Grove, Taylor Bishop, and Grant Bishop; three great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services with military honors for Mr. Bishop will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 5, 2020, at Millwee Cemetery with Jimmy Roden officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
