Ruth Elizabeth Pogue
Ruth Elizabeth Pogue, age 87, a resident of Horatio, Arkansas died Wednesday, February 26, 2020, in Ashdown.
She was born May 9,1932, in Houston, Texas. She was a homemaker and a member of the Williamson Community Church.
Mrs. Pogue was preceded in death by her father, Ernest Milton Frederic; her mother, Ruth Taylor Bishop; her step-father, Vernon Bishop; one brother, Vernon Bishop, Jr.; one sister, Lorene Coleman; and one great granddaughter, Kelly Blake Casteel.
She is survived by her husband of 71 years, William F. “Bill” Pogue; three daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Darell Rankin, JoAnn and Paul Casteel, and Johnnie and Edward Williamson; one brother, Billy and Wanda Bishop; six grandsons and their spouses, Heath and Sharon Casteel, Derek and Crystal Rankin, Doug and Sarah Casteel, Darren and Shantae Rankin, Coy and Stacy Williamson, and Justin and Tara Williamson; ten great grandchildren, Cassady, Sydney, Kinley, Chandler, Gavin, Sarah, Paige, Luke, Rykor, and Emily; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Pogue will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 29, 2020, in Millwee Cemetery with Jimmy Roden officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
Evelyn Rosenthal Gottfried
Evelyn Rosenthal Gottfried, age 87, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas died Saturday, February 22, 2020 in De Queen.
She was born February 3, 1933 in Kaukauna, Wisconsin. She retired from Tyson Foods and was a Catholic.
Mrs. Gottfried was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Cecilia Fox Rosenthal.
She is survived by 11 nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Gottfried will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 28, 2020 in Redmen Cemetery with Father Ramses Mendieta officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
Mary Virginia Quinn Moore
Mary Virginia Quinn Moore, age 87, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas died Tuesday, February 25, 2020, in Dierks.
She was born February 8, 1933 in Dierks. She was secretary/treasurer for the family business, Moore & Moore Chipping, and was a member of Dierks Church of Christ.
Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by her parents, O.L. and Annie Bell Green Quinn; her husband, Charles Edward Moore; grandson, Shane Moore; granddaughter, Amanda Moore; and two brothers, O.L. Quinn, Jr, and Bobby Quinn.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Teresa Moore, and Terry and Julia Moore; grandson, Todd and wife Kelly Moore; granddaughter, Rachel Moore Lowrey and husband Lance, all of Dierks; four great grandchildren, Reagan Moore Brown of Hot Springs, Arkansas, MaClane Moore of Texarkana, Arkansas and Lucas and Avery Lowrey of Dierks; four great-great grandchildren, Adalyn Moore, Hudson Moore, Brooklyn Brown and Tenlie Brown; one brother, A.C. Quinn of Tom Bean, Texas; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John H. and Mary Moore of Magnolia, Arkansas; sister-in-law, Sue Quinn of Dierks, Arkansas; a number of nieces and nephews; and a special cousin, Robbie Jean Dossey.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Moore will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 29, 2020 in the Dierks Church of Christ with Terry Martin, Marty Quinn and Terry Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Dierks Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home, Dierks.
Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, February 28th at Dierks Church of Christ.
Mrs. Mary Grant
Mrs. Mary Edward Grant, age 76, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas died Wednesday, February 19, 2020, in Idabel, Oklahoma.
She was the eldest of two children born to the late Edward Grant and Anna Ross Grant on January 30, 1944, in Mansfield, Louisiana. She attended Desoto High School in Mansfield and the Beauty College in Shreveport.
She was baptized at an early age and joined St. James AME Church in Mansfield. Later she rededicated her life and received the baptism of the Holy Ghost and joined East Side Church of God In Christ in Mansfield, serving there until the Lord moved her to Arkansas. She then joined Lewis Temple Church of God in Christ in De Queen. For more than 40 years she has been on the battlefield fighting for her Lord. She had a reputation of being a hard and dedicated worker for the Lord, as she worked untiringly with the Pastor’s Aide, Sunday School and cleaned the church for many years with a smile, until her health failed. She loved God and her church. People from all walks of life, near and far, sought her out for prayer and counseling.
While in Louisiana, she was an entrepreneur, the life of the party and lived life to the fullest. The world owed her nothing! She had a zest for life and was very sociable and outgoing, enjoying the time spent with family and friends. She was devoted to her family and loyal to her friends. She was a retired Direct Service Provider to individuals with developmental disabilities for many years.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; three children, Gerard Thomas, Lauretta Grant and Talbert Grant; her brother, Henry Johnson; three grandchildren, Gabriel Grant, Mariah Grant and Nyiah Grant; one great-grandson, Demarcus Grant; as well as, her brother-in-law, Supt. E.A. Edwards.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her sister, Betty Edwards of De Queen; four sons, Kevin (LaTrell) Grant of Idabel, Bishop Patrick (Sherrie) Grant, Odis (Paula) Grant, both of De Queen, and Oliver Grant of Lockesburg; one grandson whom she raised as her own, Courtney Russell; 34 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; five nieces, two nephews; two special friends, Dorothy Calhoun and Etta M. Atkins; as well as, a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Mary Grant will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, February 29, 2020 at the Lewis Temple Church of God in Christ with Eld. Isaac Hawkins and Eld. Jerome Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at Redmen Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will host a family hour beginning at 6:00 P.M., Friday, at Lewis Temple. Viewing will be general from Wednesday afternoon until Friday evening at the funeral home.
Olin Dewey Shelton
Olin Dewey Shelton, age 77 passed this life Sunday, February 23, 2020 surrounded by his loved ones at his home in Haworth, OK.
Olin was born on July 8, 1942 in Jade, OK, the son of Clarence Jackson and Myrtle (VanScoder) Shelton the 7th of 12 children. He graduated from Haworth High School the class of 1961. He attended college in Wilburton and then SAU where he obtained his Associates degree in Business Management. He started working at the Weyerhaeuser papermill in Valliant in 1971, retiring in 2002.
He was the most honest man and always told the truth no matter what. He enjoyed traveling to Alaska site seeing. He loved spending time with his family and the memories that he shared with them. He loved his Savior and honored Him by reading his word.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Clifford, Emmett and Vernon Shelton; three sisters, Inez Brumfield, Betty Watson and Della Hill.
Olin is survived by his wife; Jimmie Ann Shelton of the home; two sons, Kevin Shelton of Dierks, AR, Keith and Irena Shelton of Jade, OK, Terry Simmons and Kim of Cerro Gorodo, OK; three daughters, Debbie Berold and Tony of Ashdown, AR, Teresa and James McDougal of Ashdown, AR, Kim and Todd Carver of Lockesburg, AR; three brothers, Charles Shelton and Barbara of Marshall, TX, Roger and Judy Shelton of Jade, OK, Larry and Linda Shelton of Horatio, AR; two sisters, Evelean Davis of Redland, OK, Shirley Davis and Cy of Eagletown, OK; twenty-one grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at the Redland Church of Christ in Redland, OK with Bro. Bobby Tatum and Cy Davis officiating. Interment will follow at the Philadelphia Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at the funeral home.

James Henry “Jim” McDonald
James Henry “Jim” McDonald, age 79, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas died Friday, February 21, 2020, in Little Rock.
He was born December 24, 1940 in the Plainview Community in Little River County, Arkansas. He retired from Ashgrove Cement Plant in Foreman as a heavy equipment operator. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of State Line Baptist Church.
Mr. McDonald was preceded in death by his parents, James William “Bill” and Sarah Eunice Crowell McDonald; and three sisters, Georgia Frady, Nina Hinton, and Shirley Allen.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Higgins McDonald; two daughters and sons-in-law, Shelly and Carlton Richardson of Wickes, Arkansas, and Courtney and Robby Ray of Horatio, Arkansas; one son and daughter-in-law, James “Hooch” and Amy McDonald of Winthrop, Arkansas; one brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Sylvia McDonald of Foreman, Arkansas; one sister, Jean Higgins of De Queen; five grandchildren, Kara Richardson, Kolt Richardson, Judson Ray, Ellie Ray, and Kady Ray; a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral Services for Mr. McDonald will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 25, 2020 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Virgil Romine and Bobby Fischer officiating. Burial will follow in Pauley Cemetery.

Mrs. Diane Allen
Mrs. Alta Diane Sawyer Allen, age 84, resident of Magnolia Springs, Alabama, passed from this life on Friday, February 21, 2020 at the Thomas Hospital in Fairhope, Alabama.
She was born to Cyrus Arthur and Margaret Elizabeth Peel Sawyer on July 25, 1935 in Waco, Texas. She was a 1953 graduate of De Queen High School and married the love of her life, Marlin Ray Allen, on May 23rd of that year. She worked as Secretary for Conoco, retiring with 32 years of service and was a Christian. She was a member of the Magnolia Springs Garden Club and enjoyed gardening, building large doll houses, flowers, playing Solitaire and watching movies, but most of all, she cherished the times spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of over 60 years, Marlin Allen; her mother and father-in-law, Tompie Vera and Walter Lee Allen, Sr.; and her beloved dog and cat, Paco and Nicky.
She is survived by one daughter, Becky Estes and her husband Tom of Magnolia Springs, Alabama; one son, Steven Ray Allen and his wife Tania of Lake Charles, Louisiana; five grandchildren, Courtney Bowles of Fort Collins, Colorado, Ryan Matthew Wallace of Salt Lake City, Utah, Lindsay Diane Gillard and husband Jeremy of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Dr. Shelby Ann Hebert and husband Dr. Tyler Hebert of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Erin Ann Forsse and husband Dr. Stephen Forsse of Waco, Texas; six great-grandchildren, Maddy, Zoe, Lucas, Jonas, Juliet and Jenna; the Allen family: Joyce Smith, Barbara Allen, Floy Smith, Carolyn Cowling, and Marolyn Needham and husband Wendell; as well as, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
