Esta Lee Caswell
Mrs. Esta Lee Alexander Caswell, age 93, resident of Maumelle, Arkansas and former resident of Vandervoort, passed from this life on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 in Little Rock.
She was born to Louis Lee and Elza “Elzy” Harris Alexander on June 8, 1926 in Dierks. She married the love of her life, Clarence Glen Caswell, on February 21, 1941 in Mena. To this union, three children were born. She and her husband operated a poultry farm, growing for Tyson, for many years. After Clarence’s passing and later selling the farm, Esta worked as a Home Health Aide serving many families in our area. She was of the Methodist faith and enjoyed crossword puzzles and working, but most of all, she cherished the time spent with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of over 48 years, Clarence Caswell in 1989; one son, Clarence Louis “Butch” Caswell in 1986; one granddaughter, Sonya Turner; and two brothers, Leroy and Ambrose Alexander.
She is survived by two daughters, Sharron Mayo and Essie Janelle Loyd, both of Vandervoort; seven grandchildren, Angela Hopton and her husband Dale of Little Rock, William Glen Miller and his wife Renee of Grannis, Amanda Pannell of Hot Springs, Justin Loyd and his wife Kellie of Wickes, Lori Caswell, Mark Caswell and Jennifer Caswell; twelve great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; special friend, Wilma Hooks of Mena; as well as, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, January 4, 2020 at the Vandervoort First Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the Witherspoon Cemetery in Vandervoort, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends from Noon until service time, Saturday, at the church.
Larry “Peanut” David Russell
Mr. Larry D. “Peanut” Russell, Sr., age 68, a resident of Horatio, Arkansas, died Friday, December 27, 2019, at his home.
He was born to J. D. and Maxine Dobbs Russell in De Queen, Arkansas, on September 14, 1951. He was a 1969 graduated of Horatio High School and was retired owner of Lazy R Trucking Company. He loved his Lord and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Horatio. He enjoyed horses, rodeos, and watching bull riding. Most of all, he cherished the time spent with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He leaves to cherish his memory, two sons and a daughter-in-law, David Russell of Horatio, Arkansas, and Jason and Kayla Russell of De Queen, five grandchildren, Kylie Tadlock of Wickes, Jackson Russell, Bonner Russell, Bolton Russell, and Levi Russell all of De Queen; two sisters, Leslie Seigler of Wake Village, Texas, and Joan Storey of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, and a number of nieces and nephews as well as other family members and a host of friends.
Memorial Services are pending and will be announced later. Cremation is under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.
Leonard Leo Davis
Mr. Leonard Leo Davis, age 82, a resident of Foreman, Arkansas, died Sunday, December 29, 2019, in Ashdown, Arkansas.
He was born September 27, 1937, in Blackfork, Arkansas. He was a Christian and a road foreman for Little River County.
Mr. Davis was preceded in death by one daughter, Bonnell Davis; two sisters, Charlene Harris and Eloise Stobaugh; one brother, Benny Davis; and two grandchildren, Matthew Stewart and John Keith Jackson.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Lawanda and Tom Knighten and Lynnell and Tommy Cleghorn; 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Memorial services for Mr. Davis will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 4, 2020, at Piney Cemetery in Blackfork, Arkansas with Audie Dawson officiating. Cremation arrangements by Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen, Arkansas.
James C. Hanney
Mr. James C. Hanney, age 67, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Saturday, December 28, 2019, in Texarkana, Texas.
He was born April 17, 1952, in Nashville, Arkansas. He was a retired millwright for Weyerhaeuser and a member of the Old Time Missionary Baptist Church.
Mr. Hanney was preceded in death by his father, H.C. Hanney; and a son, Johnathan Wayne Hanney.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie Goins Hanney; one son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Angela Hanney of De Queen; his mother, Betty Lou Hanney of Searcy, Arkansas; a brother and sister-in-law, Freddy and Teresa Hanney of Bradford, Arkansas; his grandchildren, Ashtyn Hanney, Brady Hanney and Ryan and Hannah Hanney; two brothers-in-law and their spouses, Johnie and Martha Goins of Horatio, Arkansas, and Jerry and Karen Goins of Chicota, Texas; a sister-in-law and her husband, Sue and Junior McDonald of Lockesburg, Arkansas; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services for Mr. James Hanney will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at Redmen Cemetery with Bro. Bobby Tatum officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, December 30th at the funeral home.
James Burton Culp
James Burton Culp, age 56, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas died Saturday, December 28, 2019, at his home.
He was born June 9, 1963 in De Queen. He was a farmer and a cowboy.
Mr. Culp was preceded in death by his father, Jim Culp and his step father, Curtis Stafford.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie Trotter Culp of De Queen; his mother, Pat Burke Stafford of Eagletown, Oklahoma; a son, Trevor Hodges of De Queen; three sisters, Tracy Hall of Gillham, Arkansas, Vanessa Ardese of McAlister, Oklahoma and Pamela Vaughn of Gravette, Arkansas; a step brother, Jeff Stafford of Eagletown; a step son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Ana McGough; a step daughter and son-in-law, Amberly and Logan Pearce; his grandchildren, Addi, Jackson, Aria, and Jacob McGough and Trevor, Lexi, and Ty Davignon and Kayleigh Lakon Hodges; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services for Mr. Culp will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 30, 2019 in the Chapel Hill Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

Mary L. Parker
Mary L. Parker, age 76, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas died Friday, December 20, 2019, at her home, with her children by her side.
She was born May 9, 1943, in De Queen. She was a member of Kern Heights Baptist Church and owner and operator of Mrs. Mary’s Preschool.
Mrs. Parker was preceded in death by her parents, Ollie and Josie Cure Stover.
She is survived by one daughter, Lesia and Joseph Stephens of De Queen; two sons, Monty Wayne Parker and Donna of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and James Wesley Parker and Theresa of Texarkana, Arkansas; two brothers, Jasper Stover and Joy of Texarkana, Texas and Henry Charles Stover and Reni of Idaho; one sister, Louise Icenhower of Dierks, Arkansas; 9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Parker will be held at 3:30 p.m., Sunday, December 29, 2019, at Chapel Hill Cemetery with Bobby Fisher officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Saturday, December 28th at the funeral home.
Geary David Powell
Geary David Powell, age 71, a resident of Gillham, Arkansas, went to be with his Lord Thursday, December 19, 2019, at his home.
He was born April 10, 1948, in Mena to the late J.D. Powell, Sr., and Murl Powell. Geary proudly served his country in the United States Army. He loved being on the water with his late wife of 43 years, Helen, on their sailboat. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gillham and above all he loved God and his family. Geary was an industrial hygienist. He will be dearly missed and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend to all.
Mr. Powell was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Helen Powell.
He is survived by two sons, Dr. Victor Anderson and wife Karen and their children, James, Nicholas, and Michael Anderson all of Cheyanne, Wyoming and David Anderson and wife Kenda of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one brother-in-law, James Barfield and wife, Shirley; one sister-in-law, Faye B. Reid of Nashville, Tennessee; nephews, Bill Barfield and wife Anita and Mike Barfield and wife Cherie; nieces, Patty Burcham and husband Paul and Manya Wood and husband Gene all of Gillham; a cousin, Joyce Bogorno of Fresno, California; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
