J. Salvador Vera Gomez
J. Salvador Vera Gomez, age 68, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas died Friday, August 30, 2019, in Hot Springs, Arkansas.

He was born April 19, 1951 in Cañada de Caracheo, GTO Mexico. He was retired from Pilgrim’s Pride. Mr. Vera was preceded in death by his father, Carmen Vera Leon.

He is survived by his mother, Enedina Gomez Martinez; wife, Maria Abundiz; two sons, Jose Niévs Vera Abundiz and Carlos Vera Abundiz; two daughters, Guillermina Vera Abundiz and Juana Vera Abundiz; fourteen grandchildren, two great grandchildren and nine brothers and sisters.

Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, September 1, 2019 at the Monsignor Scott Friend Pastoral Center. Burial will follow at Redmen Cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen, Arkansas.

Mr. Clyde Chandler
Mr. Clyde Allen Chandler, age 86, resident of the Westline Community of Sevier County, passed from this life on Thursday, August 22, 2019 at his home.

He was born to Clarence and Mary Allen Chandler on March 22, 1933 in the Central Community of Sevier County. He married the love of his life, Dorothy Dean Waters, on March 3, 1953 in De Queen, and to this marriage, eleven children were born. Clyde was a man of many talents and was not a stranger to work. He began his work life in the log woods. He operated a sawmill, cut timber and was one of the first in our area to have purchased a two-man motorized chainsaw. He owned and operated Chandler Litter Service, serving the poultry farmers of our community. Later in life, he built poultry houses and worked alongside his family on the farm. He served many years on the Sevier County Co-op Board of Directors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, giving out produce and storytelling, but most of all, he cherished the time he was able to spend with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives, Dorothy Waters Chandler in 2005 and Shirley McNully Chandler in 2007; and three siblings, Doroles Marie Yandell, Betty Lynn Chandler and Charles Kimball Chandler.

He leaves to cherish his memory, six sons and daughters-in-law, Melvin and Haidee Chandler of Lockesburg, Ricky Faron Chandler and his companion Gayla of Eagletown, Lawrence Gene and Leslie Chandler of De Queen, Loy Don and Devona Chandler of Melber, Kentucky, Billy Scott and Michelle Chandler of Murphy, North Carolina and Jeffry Alan and Jayna Chandler of Pickens, Oklahoma; five daughters and sons-in-law, Patsy Loraine and Wayne Sloat of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Larenda Sue and Bill Montgomery of Lockesburg, Lori Jan and Joey Vaught of Horatio, Mary Joan and Richard Ruth of De Queen and Sarah Jeneane and Willie Yandell of De Queen; thirty-six grandchildren; forty great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jimmy and Ivanelle Chandler of Idabel, Oklahoma and Randy and Gwen Chandler of New Boston, Texas; two sisters, Laura Nelson of Cunningham, Kentucky and Glenda and Dennis Ward of Tom, Oklahoma; a special friend, Jim Waltson of Oregon; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral Services for Mr. Clyde Chandler will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, August 26, 2019 in the De Queen First Assembly of God with Bros. Tracy Welch and Billy Don Weeks officiating. Burial will follow in the Westline Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Sunday, August 25th, at the funeral home.

Mr. George Youngblood
Mr. George Thomas Youngblood, age 79, a resident of Benton, Arkansas, and former resident of De Queen, died Thursday, August 22, 2019 at his home.

He was the youngest of nine children born to George Mitchell and Martha Marie Greer Youngblood He was born in Grannis, Arkansas, on February 11, 1940. He was a retired supervisor with Tred II, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and being outside.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Joyce Youngblood, two sons, David Youngblood, and Jeffery Youngblood, his siblings, Howard Youngblood, Troye Youngblood, Floye Youngblood, Martha Butler, Harold Youngblood, and Helen Youngblood.

He is survived by two sons, Darrell Dean Youngblood of Haskell, Arkansas, Randy Youngblood and his wife, Christina of Temecula, California, one daughter, Jennifer Youngblood of Benton, Arkansas, eight grandchildren, Heather Compton, Kassandra Wilkins, Andrew Schiavello-Youngblood, Cheyenne Youngblood, Anthony Davis-Youngblood, Christopher Youngblood, Jeffrey Youngblood, and Alyssa Youngblood, five great-grandchildren, two sisters, Merle Miller, and her husband, Eldon, and Elsie Jones all of De Queen.

Visitation will be Monday, August 26, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

Suellen Sullivan
Suellen Sullivan, age 77 of Wickes, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2019 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas.
She was born on November 11, 1941 in Rogers, Arkansas to the late Richard and Hazel Rice Bright. Suellen was married for 30 years to the late Harrison Sullivan. She was a member of the Wickes Nazarene Church and dearly loved the people. Suellen loved to sew and work in her yard. One of her passions was to cook and visit friends and families when they couldn’t get out. Above all, she loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren as they were her pride and joy. Suellen was a wonderful and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend to all who knew her. She will be dearly missed by all.
She is survived by: her Daughters: DeLynn and Spanky Hale of Highfill, Arkansas and SheriLe and Thomas James of Wickes, Arkansas; Grandchildren: Karilynn and Pete Winters of Farmington, Arkansas, Kristin and Sohn Morris of Pea Ridge, Arkansas, Bo and Mandi James of Wickes, Arkansas; Great- Grandchildren: Gavin and Ean Shadden, Riley Morris, Jayli and Logan James, Cooper, Zac, and Brooke Winters; a Sister: Elizabeth Bright-See; a Nephew: Christopher See; a Niece: Melissa Gardner; her Extended family: The families of Bridgett Martin, Harley Sullivan, Jess Sullivan, Marion Sullivan, Yvonne Kohn and Bill Sullivan; and Special friends: Sarah Gorden and Delwin Reed as well as a Host of family and friends.
She was preceded in death by parents, Richard and Hazel Bright, and husband Harrison Sullivan and a brother Phillip Bright.
Funeral service will be Saturday, August 24, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Wickes Church of the Nazarene in Wickes, Arkansas with Brother Jon Newlin officiating. Interment will follow in the Baker Cemetery under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
Pallbearers are Cody Speight, Joe Miller, John Cody Sullivan, Eric Sullivan, Seth Watkins, Cody Wilson, Jason Sullivan and Montana Speight.
Honorary pallbearers are Loren Jenkins, Elijah Sullivan, Pete Winters, Ty Sullivan, Sohn Morris, Zac Counts and Ben Counts

Mrs. Hortencia Ramirez
Mrs. Hortencia Reinoso Samano Ramirez, age 80, resident of Horatio, passed from this life on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at her home.

She was one of the oldest of thirteen children born to Manuel Samano Macedo and Justa Reinoso Hernandez on March 26, 1939 in Mexico. She married the love of her life, Zenaido Rodriguez Ramirez in Mexico. Together, they shared over 61 loving years. She was a homemaker and a member of the St. Barbara Catholic Church in De Queen. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting and being on the farm, but most of all, she cherished the time spent with her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Tomas Ramirez; one granddaughter, Erika Ramirez; and one brother, Crispin Samano.

She is survived by her husband, Zenaido Ramirez of Horatio; four children, Reina Ramirez Samano and her husband Ismael Vazquez, Rodolfo Ramirez Samano and his wife Rosario Ramirez, Ismael Ramirez Samano and his wife Maria Loma, and Omar Ramirez Samano and his wife Emelia Mora; seventeen grandchildren, Ivan, Rodolfo, Jr., Anthony, Jerry, Paul, Eric, Alan, Luiz, Mariela, Armondo, Rodrigo, Carla, Baleria, Omar, Jr., Alexis, Yarixel and Yeilin; three great-grandchildren, Mateo, Camilla and Geraldine; nine siblings; as well as, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, August 22, 2019 at the St. Barbara Catholic Church in De Queen with Father Ramses Mendieta officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Center Cemetery, Horatio under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, August 21st, at the funeral home.

Robert Lee Forbes
Mr. Robert Lee Forbes, age 77, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas died Thursday, August 15, 2019, at his home.

He was born June 7, 1942, in Topeka, Kansas. Robert was a member of Westside Church of Christ and retired from Weyerhaeuser. He was married to Dockey Forbes for over 45 years. He loved fishing, hunting and anything outdoors. He loved to tell “stories” and visiting with family and friends.

Mr. Forbes was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Beulah Forbes; his wife, Dockey Forbes; one daughter, Linda Mounts; one sister, Clara Forbes; and one brother, Charles Forbes.

He is survived by a daughter, Patsy Lites and husband Steve; one son-in-law, Terry Mounts; grandchildren, Kerry McBride and husband Mack of Dierks, Chad Lites and wife Tammy of De Queen, and Narissa Mounts of Hot Springs; great grandchildren, Caitlin Collins and husband Michael, Cody Lites, Whitney Wheeler and husband Dex, Tori Mitchell and husband Chase, and Becca, Cole, Kadee, and Charlee Whisenhunt; great-great grandchildren, Hadley and Lucas Mitchell and Paisley Collins; two sisters, Betty Johnson and Lola Haemaker; one nephew, Gavin Johnson; and niece and husband, Twila and Bo Santos.

Funeral services for Mr. Forbes will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 17, 2019, at the Westside Church of Christ in Dierks with Jerry Mounts officiating. Burial will follow in the Dierks Cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen, Arkansas.

Mrs. Reba Higgins
Mrs. Reba Louise Higgins, age 75, resident of De Queen, passed from this life on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 in De Queen.

She was born to Winston and Christine Wright Higgins on January 31, 1944 in De Queen, Arkansas. She married the only man she would ever love, James Russell Higgins, on August 4, 1967. She was a graduate of the Gillham High School and worked as a Park Attendant for the United States Corp of Engineers. She was a member of the Union Baptist Church and enjoyed photography, especially being able to photograph the wildlife. She also enjoyed seeing the visitors of the Cossatot Reefs State Park and handing out candy to the children. Most of all, she cherished the time spent with her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of over 36 years, Russell Higgins; two grandchildren, Haylee Higgins and Chris Parker; one brother, C.W. Higgins, Jr., and a step-son, Guy Higgins.

She leaves to cherish her memory, two sons, Darren Higgins and his wife Bobbi of De Queen and Windell Higgins of Conway, Arkansas; five step-children, Cindy Lewis and her husband Bryan of Salt Lake City, Utah, Christina Higgins of De Queen, Twila Wolford and her husband Danny, also of De Queen, and James Higgins; two foster daughters, Gena Mahler and her husband Brad and Tracy Tomlinson; 25 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Regina Johnson of De Queen. Reba did not have friends. If you knew her, you were family. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and a host of other family.

Memorial Services will be announced at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.
