J. W. Pond, Sr.
Mr. J.W. Pond, Sr., age 75, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas, died Saturday, August 3, 2019 at his home.
He was born March 20, 1944 in Foreman, Arkansas to James Walter and Mary Lavern (White) Pond. He enjoyed catfishing and he loved his wife, kids, and grandchildren.
Mr. Pond was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Leslie Rainwater and one daughter, Stephanie Wilson.
He is survived by his wife, Janet (Gray) Pond of Dierks; one daughter and son-in-law, Dericia and Jerry Denson of De Queen, Arkansas; one son and daughter-in-law, J.W., Jr. and Lauren Pond of Dierks; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Pond will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 6, 2019 in the First Assembly of God Church in Dierks with Pastor Kevin Herrington officiating. Burial will follow in the Fellowship Cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, August 5th at the funeral home.
Jason Trent Hill
Jason Trent Hill, age 44, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas died Monday, July 29, 2019 at his home.
He was born May 23, 1975 in De Queen. He was a 1993 graduate of Horatio High School. Jason had worked as a manager for McDonald’s in Paris, Texas prior to a years long battle with complications related to diabetes. Jason enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching sports.
Jason was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn Dinger Hill.
He is survived by his father, Walter “Jack” Hill; sisters, Cheryl Smith and husband, Jay of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, and Jackie Shelton of De Queen; nephews, Logan Smith, and Colton Shelton; nieces, Rylie and Laney Smith, Kaylee Edens and Gracie Shelton; and a host of family, friends and loved ones.
A celebration of life and visitation will be held at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m, to be followed by cremation and a private memorial with immediate family at a later date.
Alyssa Mackenzie Marshall
Alyssa Mackenzie Marshall, age 18, was born April 11, 2001 in Sherman, Texas to Ryan and Suprina Marshall.
She was a resident of Forney Texas and passed from this life on July 3, 2019 due to complications from Type 1 Diabetes.
Alyssa graduated from Forney High School on May 22, 2019.
She is preceded in death by her great grandparents; Roy and Martha Willis, Ted and Ruth Marshall, Jack and Alice Gordon and her Aunt Gail Willis Sims.
Alyssa is survived by her parents, Ryan and Suprina Marshall and her brother Brayden Ryan Marshall, grandparents Brenda Willis Landry and husband Marty Landry, Glen and Sharla Marshall, Uncles Lane Marshall, Eric Sims and Jason Landry, great uncles Rocky Willis and Jerry Marshall, great Aunts Nina McDonnell and husband John, Carla Barnes and husband Farryl.
Services were held in Forney, Texas July 11,2019.

Barbie Jean Summerhill
Mrs. Barbie Jean (Kidder) Summerhill, age 66, a resident of Lockesburg, Arkansas, died peacefully Friday, July 20, 2019, in Texarkana, Texas.
She was born March 29, 1953, in Steubenville, Ohio to Guy Arthur and Norma Jean (Gardner) Kidder. She worked as a Purchasing Agent at Tyson for 37 years. She was a member of the Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church and her life was devoted to loving Jesus and serving Him.
Mrs. Summerhill was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ronald Summerhill; one brother, Charles Kidder and step-mother, Opal Kidder.
She is survived by one sister, Margaret Johnston of Phoenix, Arizona; two daughters, Lisa Whisenhunt and Geraldine Summerhill; one aunt, Ruth Shirer and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Summerhill will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 3, 2019 at the Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church with Larry Fry officiating. Norma Jean Romanek
Mrs. Norma Jean (Gardner) Romanek, age 86, a resident of Lockesburg, Arkansas, died Friday, June 14, 2019, in Texarkana, Arkansas.
She was born July 17, 1932, in Sugar Valley, West Virginia. She was a member of the Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church, a homemaker, house cleaner, did housekeeping for a hospital, and manager of St. Vincent DePaul Thrift Store in Mayer, Arizona.
Mrs. Romanek was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Ada Cunningham Gardner; one son, Charles Kidder; five brothers; one sister; and one son-in-law, Ronald Summerhill.
She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Barbie Summerhill of Lockesburg and Margaret and Bob Johnston of Phoenix, Arizona; two grandsons, Michael Kidder Williams and Thomas J. Johnston; three granddaughters, Sherry L. Curtis and husband Troy, Lisa Whisenhunt, and Geraldine Summerhill; her twin sister, Ruth Shirer of West Virginia; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Sylvia Arlene “Nina” Turner
Ms. Sylvia Arlene “Nina” Turner, age 86 , a resident of Grannis, Arkansas, died Thursday, July 25, 2019, in Texarkana, Texas.
She was born November 20, 1932, in Oklahoma. She was a member of the Grannis Baptist Church and a waitress at the Grannis Café.
Ms. Turner was preceded in death by her parents, Carson Denver Turner and Sylvia Mae Davis Turner; two brothers, Lloyd Turner and Charles Turner; two sisters-in-law, Mary Turner and Martha Turner; and her grandmother, Elsie Davis.
She is survived by two brothers and three sisters-in-law, Doyne and Aleta Turner of Grannis, Doyle and Dexter Turner of Wickes, Arkansas, and Janet Turner of Cattlesburg, Kentucky and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services for Ms. Turner will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 29, 2019, in the Grannis Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
Family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m., Sunday the 28th at the funeral home in De Queen.
The family will be at 905 Hwy 71 N. in De Queen, Arkansas.
DeLois Bailey Gentry
Mrs. DeLois Bailey Gentry, age 72, resident of De Queen, passed from this life on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 in Texarkana, Texas.
She was born to Floyd Washington and Blanche Elizabeth Campbell Bailey on August 26, 1946 in De Queen, Arkansas. She married the love of her life, Kenneth W. “Dink” Gentry, on July 2, 1966 in De Queen and to this union, two sons were born. She worked as a Beautician for many years, managed several properties in the Sevier County area and served as secretary for Gentry Corporation. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in De Queen and enjoyed working and traveling, but most of all, she cherished the time spent with her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two siblings, Nell Crump and Randell Bailey.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of over 53 years, Dink Gentry of De Queen; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bud and Misty Gentry and Jimmy Ray and Shelly Gentry, all of De Queen; five grandchildren, Trey Gentry and his fiancé Bailey of De Queen, Trent Gentry of De Queen, Halley Gentry of De Queen, Ashley Sharp of Fayetteville and Cassady Sharp of De Queen; seven siblings, Claudie Bailey of De Queen, Williams F. Bailey and his wife Brenda of De Queen, Ronnie W. Bailey and his wife Shirley of De Queen, Rebecca A. Vanhoose of De Queen, Nancy L. Duncan and her husband Jack of De Queen, Sara S. Joiner of Eagletown and Angela D. Morphew and her husband Robert of Gillham; as well as, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral Services for Mrs. DeLois Gentry will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, July 28, 2019 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Dennis Pruitt officiating. Burial will follow in the Redmen Cemetery under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Saturday, July 27th, at the funeral home.
