Mrs. Athel Ayers
Mrs. Athel June Fant Ayers, age 89, resident of Lockesburg, passed from this life on Friday, July 05, 2019 in Texarkana, Texas.
She was the fifth of seven children born to Carlos and Mary Ella Simmons Fant on February 7, 1930 in Daisy, Arkansas. She was a 1948 graduate of the Lockesburg High School and worked as a Real Estate Agent for many years, owning Sevier County Reality. She married the love of her life, Willie Fay Ayers on June 12, 1948 in Nashville, Arkansas. She was a member of the De Queen Church of the Nazarene and enjoyed working and her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Loye, Dean, Hershell and Eugene Fant; and one sister, Geneva Mack.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 71 years, Willie Ayers of Lockesburg; three sons, Mike Ayers and his wife Kaye of Horatio, Dan Ayers and his wife Lorine of De Queen and Tim Ayers and his wife Christy of Lockesburg; one daughter, Kayla Nottingham and her husband Jim of Lockesburg; eleven grandchildren, Stephanie Baker, Lori Marshall, Casey Hardaway, Alex Ayers, April Ayers, Curtis Ayers, Jennifer Ayers, Kimberly Ayers, Jason Nottingham, Sunni Tollett and Jake Nottingham; 28 great-grandchildren, Bella, Laney, Kate, Mika, Mason, Mallori, Heidi, Lance, Titus, Halli, Jacob, Dominic, Nolan, Ty, Abrey, Alaina, Allysia, Aaliyah, Abigail, Adalyne, Gunner, Emmy, Taylor, Kaydance, Hayzn, Zander, Levi and Garrett; one brother, Floyd “Samp” Fant of Lockesburg; as well as, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Athel Ayers will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, July 7, 2019 in the Old Center Church, Horatio, with Bro. Adam Key officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Center Cemetery under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until service time Sunday, July 7th, at the church.
Sandra Joyce Gabbard
Sandra Joyce Gabbard, age 62, a resident of Lockesburg, Arkansas, died Thursday, July 4, 2019, in Nashville, Arkansas.
She was born May 30, 1957, in Seattle, Washington. She was employed by Tyson Foods in Nashville.
Mrs. Gabbard was preceded in death by her husbands, Donald Priest and Edward Gabbard; her father, William Trusley; one brother, Bill Trusley; and one sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Carl Davis.
She is survived by her boyfriend, Shayne Sherry; her son, Donavon Trusley; her daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Robbie Deer; her son and daughter-in-law, Joey and Shannon Priest; her mother, Helen Trusley; her brother, Jim Trusley; her uncle, Roy Trusley; ten grandchildren, Triston Priest, Alysia Crabtree, Braydon West, Jacob Trusley, Devan Trusley, Christopher Trusley, Brooklyn Welker, Sean Welker, Caleb Deer and Dustin Deer; three great grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, friends, and co-workers.
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Gabbard will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 6, 2019, in Brownstown Cemetery with Billy Hatridge officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
Mr. Gale Wright
Mr. Gale Wright, age 69, a resident of Ashdown, died Tuesday, July 2, 2019 in Ashdown.
He was born to Delbert and Wilmuth Bush Wright on July 12, 1949 in Ashdown. He married the love of his life, Patricia Ann Wray, on April 11, 1997 in Withrop, Arkansas. He worked as a Powerhouse Supervisor at the Domtar mill for 44 years and attended church at the Millwood Baptist Church in Ashdown. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, camping and traveling, but most of all, he cherished the time spent with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Wazita Earle.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Pat Wright of Ashdown; two sons, David Wright of Memphis, Tennessee and Michael Parker of Ashdown; two daughters, Diana Wright of Ashdown and Sandra Hall and her husband Michael of Waskom, Texas; six grandchildren, Kaylen, Ashleigh, Samantha, Jerry Wayne, Daniel, and Savanna; four great-grandchildren, Ethan, Gage Emileigh and Izayah; special aunt and uncle, Leroy Morgan of Cookville, Texas and Mary Kesterson of Winthrop; as well as, other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral Services for Mr. Gale Wright will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, July 8, 2019 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Travis Young officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Ida Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M., Sunday, July 7th, at the funeral home.
Margaret Mae Leopard
Margaret Mae Dallis Leopard, age 87, a resident of Gillham, Arkansas died Monday, July 1, 2019 at her home.
She was born April 10, 1932 in Park Hill, Oklahoma. She was a farmer and a lifelong member of the De Queen Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George Leopard in 1998; and a sister, Ruby Smith.
She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Kelly Leopard of Wagoner, Oklahoma, and Greg Leopard of Paris, Texas; two grandchildren, Lauren Leopard and George Leopard.
Graveside memorial services for Mrs. Leopard will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 5, 2019 in the Valley Cemetery with Toney Stowers, minister officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Paragould Children’s Home or to Valley Cemetery for maintenance and upkeep.
Mrs. Pat Willard
Mrs. Patricia Ann Johnson “Pat” Willard, age 68, resident of De Queen, died Friday, June 28, 2019 at her home.
She was born to Clarence Edward “Jake” and Geneva Pearl Waltz Johnson on September 20, 1950 in De Queen, Arkansas. She was of the Presbyterian faith, worked for O K Cement and Rubber Corp of Arkansas and was a homemaker. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and canning, but most of all she cherished the time spent with her grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her parents: her daughter, Schelly Farquhar Bailey; siblings, Dixie Alexander-Koch and Clarence “Glen” Johnson; as well as, a nephew, Marty Alexander.
She is survived by two grandsons, Colby Farquhar and his wife Jessica of Stilwell, Oklahoma and Jesse Farquhar and his wife Candice of Belfair, Washington; two great-grandchildren, Branson and Colter Farquhar; one sister, Jacqueline “Jacque” Johnson of Horatio; one niece, Melisa Hanson of Ruston, Louisiana; great neice and nephew, Gilland Burch, Garrett Burch and Emily McMillan; as well as, other relatives and a host of friend.
Memorial Services for Mrs. Pat Willard will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, July 6, 2019 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Lee Brewer
Mr. Ophie Lee Brewer, age 94, resident of De Queen, Arkansas, passed from this life on Friday, June 28, 2019 in Texarkana, Texas.
He was the second oldest of six, born to Charles Pleasant and Ethel Eva Rhiner Brewer on August 14, 1924, in Gillham. Lee proudly served his country with the United States Air Force during World War II. He married the love of his life, Bessie Faye Carpenter, on June 6, 1948, in Gillham, and to this union, two children were born. He worked as a Machinist, retiring from Arkansas Cement Co. after over 15 years service. Lee was the last living, founding member of the De Queen Church of Christ. He served the church as a Sunday School Teacher having taught the teen and senior classes. He was a member of the Stay Dry Organization of Sevier County and enjoyed woodwork, gardening, carpentry and landscaping, but most of all, he cherished the time spent with his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bessie Brewer, whom he shared 66 loving years; his daughter, Molly Ann Greer; and four brothers, Honval, Charles, James and Edgar Brewer.
He leaves to cherish his memory, one son, Denny Charles Brewer and his wife Debbie of Conway, Arkansas; six grandchildren, Daniel Lee Greer of Washington D.C., Josh Brewer and his wife LaWanda of St. Peters, Missouri, Jason Brewer and his wife Carrie Ann of Memphis, Tennessee, Jonathan Brewer of Dallas, Rosalie Todd and her husband Kerry of De Queen and Carmen Kelly and her husband Jason of Chicago, Illinois; eleven great-grandchildren, Wilson, MiKayla, Ellis, Olivia, William, Anthony, James, Duncan, Austin, Tanner and Paul; five great-great-grandchildren, Tatum, Lyrik, Kinsley, Declan and Wyatt; one brother, Lewis Brewer and his wife Rose of Louisville, Kentucky; as well as, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral Services for Mr. Lee Brewer will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, July 6, 2019 in the De Queen Church of Christ, with Toney Stowers and Bobby Tatum, Ministers, officiating. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow in the Valley Cemetery, Gillham, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Friday, July 5th, at the funeral home.
Wilbur Jurdon Milam
Wilbur Jurdon Milam, age 77, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas died Sunday, June 23, 2019, in Texarkana, Texas.
He was born January 3, 1942, in Plainview, Arkansas. He was a farmer and a rancher.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Henry and Sarah Elizabeth Baker Milam; one daughter, Angela Hood; four brothers, Marvin Milam, Charles Milam, Darrell Milam, and Steve Milam; and two sisters, Effie Klitz and Velva McCormick.
He is survived by his wife, Hellen Milam; one daughter, Karen Ramsey of Centerpoint, Arkansas; three brothers, John Milam of Foreman, Arkansas, Bill Milam of Cerro Gordo, Arkansas, and Gary Milam of Foreman; three sisters, Louise Key of Foreman, Mary Jackson of Haworth, Oklahoma, and Shirley McCorkle of Texarkana, Arkansas; two grandsons, Antonio Reyna and Theo Ramsey; and one great granddaughter, Audrey Reyna.
Graveside funeral services for Mr. Milam will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 3, 2019, at Pauley Cemetery with Ricky Gregory officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 on Tuesday, July 2nd at the funeral home.
