Mr. Ray Williams
Mr. Ray Williams, age 75, a resident of De Queen, died Thursday, April 18, 2019 at his home.

He was born to Rufus and Vinita Harp Williams on February 4, 1944 in Abbott, Arkansas. He worked as a Well-Driller and served Sevier County and the surrounding communities for many years. He married Michele Janine Tripp on May 15, 1997 in De Queen. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping, but most of all, he cherished the time spent with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Bernice Williams; and three brothers, James, Hermon and Raymond Williams.

He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Michele Williams of De Queen; one son, Danny Williams and his wife Amanda of Gillham; five daughters, Trisha Loyd and her husband Darrol, Linda Williams and Dena Williams, all of Mount Vernon, Texas, Judy Lacefield and her husband Curtis, and Janine Williams, both of De Queen; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; as well as, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Private memorial services will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

Carolyn Ruth Hornsby Formby
Mrs. Carolyn Ruth Hornsby Formby, age 74, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas died Saturday, April 13, 2019, in De Queen.

She was born January 31, 1945 in Lambert, Mississippi. She was a homemaker and a member of the Kern Heights Baptist Church.

Mrs. Formby was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Herbert and Gertha Lou Hellums Hornsby; and a daughter, Amy Beth Formby.

She is survived by one son, Jason Formby; five brothers, Ronald Bert Hornsby, Arthur Grady Hornsby, Charles Everett Hornsby, Quinton Ray Hornsby and James Allen Hornsby; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Formby will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 18, 2019 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Bobby Fisher officiating. Burial will follow in Redmen Cemetery.

Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m., until service time.

Penelope “Penny” Searles Noel
Mrs. Penelope “Penny” Searles Noel, age 76, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas died Saturday, April 13, 2019, in Dierks Health and Rehab.

She was born July 8, 1942, in Plainfield, New Jersey. She was a seamstress and a member of the Dierks United Methodist Church. She worked as a traveling missionary for many years, serving in Ohio, Texas, and Sitka, Alaska. She worked on health vans and in colleges in her mission service to others.

Mrs. Noel was preceded in death by her parents, William Linton and Barbara Holden Searles.

She is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Michael Noel and Malinda of Dierks and Christopher Noel of Dierks; one daughter and son-in-law, Dianna Noel Hollo and Joseph of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania; one sister, Judy Rizzo of Lewisburg, Tennessee; five grandchildren, Jennifer Noel, Spencer Noel and wife Sarah, Jacob, Jennie and Anthony Hollo and one great granddaughter, Ellie Grace Noel.

A memorial visitation for Mrs. Noel will be held at 6-8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 18, 2019 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in Dierks.

Mrs. Juanita LaPorte
Mrs. Juanita Hopkins LaPorte, age 83, a resident of the White Cliffs Community of Sevier County, passed from this life on Monday, April 8, 2019 in Texarkana, Texas.

She was the oldest of three children born to Luther and Zeddie Crosslin Hopkins on May 3, 1935 in White Cliffs. She attended school at the White Cliffs Community School and worked as a CNA. Before retirement, she worked for the Swoperidge Nursing Center in Missouri and as a private care nurse. Juanita loved the Lord, was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in White Cliffs. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, knitting, reading and sharing about the newspaper, and being retired, but most of all, she cherished the time spent with her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, whom she shared many wonderful years, George E. LaPorte; two sons, Ronald Keith Booker and Douglas Lydell Booker; four daughters, Diann Hopkins, Janice Booker, Marlene Canady and Francine Canady (McGee); and two brothers, Dorris Luther Hopkins and Leodis Hopkins.

She leaves to cherish her memory, six sons, Arnold Booker, Jr., Larry Darrell Booker, Ernest Eugene Booker and Billy Odell Booker, all of Kansas City, Missouri, Bobby Oniel Booker of the White Cliffs Community, and Maverick Lamar Canady, also of Kansas City, Missouri; 30 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren; as well as, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Juanita LaPorte will be held at 12:00 P.M., Noon, Saturday, April 13, 2019 in the Scott’s Memorial United Methodist Church, Paraloma, with Rev. Calvin Marbles officiating. Burial will follow in the Brownstown Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M., until service time, Saturday, at the church.

Bobby McWhorter
Bobby McWhorter, age 75, a resident of Lockesburg, Arkansas, died Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at his home.

He was born June 17, 1943, in Lockesburg. Mr. McWhorter served in the Army National Guard and was a member of the Rock Hill Baptist Church. He was also a former Sunday school superintendent and Deacon, as well as a logger, and cattle farmer. He enjoyed woodworking in his shop. He might have been a very quiet man, but his love for others spoke volumes.

Mr. McWhorter was preceded in death by his father, William Aaron McWhorter; one son, B.J. McWhorter; one grandson, Austin Brackett; and one brother, Jerry McWhorter.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Pruitt McWhorter; one daughter, Terry Brackett; his mother, Amy Jane Crunk McWhorter; two brothers, Billy McWhorter and Jimmy McWhorter all of Lockesburg; one sister, Diana Shaw of Nash, Texas; one grandson and fiancé, Aaron Brackett and Kara Walker; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. McWhorter will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 12, 2019, in Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in De Queen with John Lindsey officiating. Burial will follow at Old Union Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 11th at the funeral home.

Betty Jane Stacy Arbour
Mrs. Betty Jane Stacy Arbour, age 80, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas died Sunday, April 7, 2019, in Texarkana, Texas.

She was born October 16, 1938, in Malvern, Arkansas. She was a homemaker and a Seventh Day Adventist.

Mrs. Arbour was preceded in death by her parents, Revis and Neva Dyer Stacy; her husband, Dr. William Hunter Arbour; and one sister, Joyce White.

She is survived by one daughter, Toni Arbour of De Queen; three sons, Ray Arbour, Mark Arbour, and David Arbour all of De Queen; one brother, Larry Stacy of Malvern, Arkansas; one sister, Anna Bell Blake of Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Brittany Arbour and Josh Arbour; four great grandchildren, Molly Caswell, Parker Caswell, Trey Bell, and Hattie Bell; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside memorial services for Mrs. Arbour will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 11, 2019, in the Beacon Hill Cemetery with Elder Duane Nash officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

Tom Lewis “Stormy” Blagg
Mr. Tom Lewis “Stormy” Blagg was born June 18, 1927 in Dierks, Arkansas. He passed from this life Saturday, April 6, 2019. He was a member of Holly Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Dierks.

He was a World War II veteran. He was a sawyer for Dierks Forests and Weyerhaeuser Company and retired from Weyerhaeuser in 1989 after 40 years and six months of service.

In 1962 Stormy helped organize the Dierks Riding Club. He loved country music and gospel music. He also loved hunting and fishing with his friends.

Stormy was preceded in death by his wife, Imogene Nichols Blagg; his son, Gary Blagg; his parents, Bill and Mary James Blagg, one daughter-in-law, Kathy Blagg; two sisters, Eunice Blagg Pate and husband Wallace, and Dorma Blagg Hunter and husband Burl; and one brother, Buddy Blagg.

He is survived by two granddaughters, Keli Blagg of Frisco, Texas, and Ashley and Jordan Scharnweber, also of Frisco; great grandchildren, Opal and Ivy Scharnweber of Frisco; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Junior and Jane Nichols of Hot Springs, Arkansas; two nieces, Cindy Jordan and Dee Dee King and two nephews; Bryan Nichols and Ralph Blagg; and close friend, Jerald Griffin of Dierks; and a host of other friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Blagg will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2019 in the Holly Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Dierks with Scott Kitchens and Jaron Tipton officiating. Burial will follow in the Fellowship Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Monday the 8th, at the funeral home.
