Aaron Michael Hooker

Aaron Michael Hooker, age 41, a resident of Texarkana, Arkansas, died Saturday, April 4, 2015 near the Green’s Chapel Community.

He was born on February 13, 1974 in Texarkana, Texas. Aaron was a supervisor for SAIC, defense contractor to the Red River Army Depot. He enjoyed being with his friends, sports, hunting and loved fishing with his son.

Aaron is survived by his son, Dillon Mitchell Hooker of Texarkana; his parents, Charles and Cathy Hooker of Dierks, Arkansas; one brother and sister-in-law, Jason and Tami Hooker of Chandler, Texas; his nieces and nephew, Bayli, Tori and Layne; two very special people, Sonya Hooker and K. C. Barr and several uncles and aunts.

The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2015.

Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2015 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in De Queen with Brother Joe Carlton officiating.

Traci Leigh Swinehart

Traci Leigh Swinehart, age 39, a resident of San Antonio, Texas, died Wednesday, March 25, 2015 in San Antonio.

She was born on March 8, 1976 in Great Falls, Montana. She loved people especially children. She was charismatic, outgoing and led a colorful life. She could communicate with anyone in spite of her deafness. Traci was well educated and had traveled many places with her father.

Traci is survived by her mother and step-father, Lesa and Eric Lyon of Arlington, Texas; her father, David Swinehart of The Woodlands, Texas; her grandparents, Chuck and Rosie King of Murfreesboro, Arkansas and her aunt, Bambi Whitehouse of Spring, Texas.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, April 2, 2015 in Lockesburg cemetery with Rev. Terry Chapman officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

Traci Leigh Swinehart, March 8, 1976-March 25, 2015. We are here to celebrate the dash of a lifetime. A simple dash that falls between her birth date and the end of her life here on earth. Now there is a new beginning for our beloved Traci where she will have peace and no more pain.

She was especially close to her grandfather, Chuck King and loved to come to Arkansas to see him and her grandma Rosie King. Traci’s father, David Swinehart had been a good father who had raised her well.

She loved her mother Lesa, who was like a sister or better yet to say she was an extension of her. They were a lot alike. Lesa loved Traci so very much and part of her has gone on with her.

Traci and Eric Lyon, her stepfather were close and he loved her like a daughter, he will remember many wonderful times.

Barbara Jean Poindexter

Barbara Jean Poindexter, age 76, a resident of Gillham, Arkansas, passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2014, at her home.

She was born July 6, 1938 in Warren, Ohio. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Gillham.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Richard Sager and Lauretta Sphar and one brother, Jimmy Thompson.

She is survived by three daughters, Lauretta Aragon of Clay Springs, Arizona, Reva Kitchens of Gillham and Sandra Scott of Grannis; two sons, Jimmy Ray Pollard of Grannis and Jessie Ray Pollard of Gillham; one brother, Richard Sager, Jr.; two sisters, Dora McEdward and Carey McLaughin; 19 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great- grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for Barbara will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 11, 2014 in the First Baptist Church of Gillham with Bro. Homer Frachiseur officiating.

Cora Faye Gore

Mrs. Cora Faye Young Gore, age 87, a resident of Ft. Worth, Texas, died Wednesday, September 2, 2015, in Ft. Worth.

She was born June 16, 1928, in Lockesburg, Arkansas. She was a homemaker and a member of the Travis Ave. Baptist Church in Ft. Worth.

Mrs. Gore was preceded in death by her parents, William H. and Nobie Cannon Young; one daughter, Kathy Leigh Phillips; two brothers and four sisters.

She is survived by her husband, Henry C. Gore; one son, Morris Gore of Dallas, Texas; one daughter, Jan Padilla of Albuquerque, New Mexico; one sister, Robbie Enoch of Crystal City, Missouri; five grandchildren, Nichole and Natalie Gore and Keith, Kyle and Cassie Padilla and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Gore will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 5, 2015, in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Paul Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Millwee cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, September 4th at the funeral home.

Rosa Lee Stokes

Mrs. Rosa Lee Ward Stokes, age 84, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas, died Monday, August 31, 2015, in Dierks Health and Rehab.

She was born April 26, 1931, in Gillham, Arkansas. She was a homemaker and a member of First Assembly of God Church in Dierks.

Mrs. Stokes was preceded in death by her husband, Junior Buck Stokes; one brother, Finis Holder and one sister, Josephine Rose.

She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Pat Ashbrooks and Kay and Wayne Kesterson all of Dierks; one brother, Bennie Ward of Portland, Oregon and one sister, Mabel Boone of Springdale, Arkansas; 5 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Stokes will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 2, 2015, in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in Dierks with Kevin Jewell officiating. Burial will follow in Fellowship cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, September 1st at the funeral home in Dierks.

Charlie E. Tadlock

Mr. Charlie E. Tadlock, age 65, a resident of Gillham, Arkansas, died Tuesday, August 25, 2015, at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.

He was born November 29, 1949, in De Queen. He was a truck driver and farmer. He enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.

Mr. Tadlock was preceded in death by his parents, C.F. “Red” and Lafaye (McCormick) Tadlock; one son, Michael Tadlock and one sister-in-law, MaDonna Scott Tadlock.

He is survived by his wife, Loretta (Hudson) Tadlock; three daughters and sons-in-law, Gayla and Charles McWhorter of Warren, Arkansas, Shannon and Mark Wilson of Cove, Arkansas and Tracey and Josh McConnell of Grannis, Arkansas; one son, Charlie B. Tadlock also of Grannis.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Connie and Jerel Jones of Gillham and Debbie and Lyndon Jefferson of Gilmer, Texas; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Ricky and Glenda Tadlock of Broken Bow, Oklahoma and Ronnie Tadlock of Gillham; ten grandchildren, Brittney Bruner, Logan Poole, Garet Wilson, Natalie, Sydney and Harlie Wilson, Allie and Lillie Faye McWhorter and Skyler and Charlie “Bebo” Tadlock; his uncles and aunts, Melvin and Laura Tadlock of Idabel, Oklahoma, Waylon and Wanda McCormick of Grannis, Vanell Smith of Jal, New Mexico and Jan Tadlock of Grannis; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 28, 2015 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in De Queen with Bobby Tatum officiating. Burial will follow in Mineral cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, August 27th at the funeral home.

The family will be at the home of Loretta Tadlock, 9032 Hwy 71 S. in Grannis.

Beth (Young) Brooks

Mrs. E. Beth (Young) Brooks, age 72, a resident of Winthrop, Arkansas, died Tuesday, August 25, 2015, in Texarkana, Texas.

She was born December 20, 1942, in Horatio, Arkansas. She was a homemaker and a member of the Horatio Church of Christ.

Mrs. Brooks was preceded in death by her parents, William Thomas and Edna Pearl Sims Young; and four sisters, Louise Power, Corine Ayers, Ruby Rust and Verna McGough.

She is survived by her husband, Gerald Brooks of Winthrop; one daughter and son-in-law, Michelle “Shelly” and Jim Crenshaw of Cerro Gordo, Oklahoma; one son and daughter-in-law, Barry Todd and Lee Ann Brooks of Winthrop, Arkansas; a sister, Inez Taylor of Lockesburg, Arkansas; two grandchildren, Baylee Crenshaw and Bradi Kae Brooks; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Brooks will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 27, 2015 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Virgil Romine, Cy Davis and Bobby Tatum officiating. Burial will follow in the Pauley cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at the funeral home.

Rachel Elizabeth McCarley Smith

Rachel Elizabeth Mayo McCarley Smith, age 79, a resident of Grannis, Arkansas, died Sunday, September 6, 2015 in Texarkana, Texas.

She was born May 21, 1936 in Wickes, Arkansas. She was retired from Poulan, a homemaker, a lifelong volunteer for the Grannis Trailrider Riding Club and a Baptist.

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents, Hershel Mayo and Fairis Baker Mayo Stemple; her husband, Millard Lee Smith; her first husband, Kelly McCarley; a sister, Laverne Harvey; and a brother, Dwight Mayo.

She is survived by two daughters, Charlotte McCarley of Gillham, Arkansas and Michelle Williams of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; two sons, Larry McCarley of Wickes, and Wayne McCarley of Grannis; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Carol and Ronney Fields of Hatfield, Arkansas, Midge and Sam Faulk of North Bend, Oregon and Doris Roberts of Tennessee; one brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Cyndy Mayo of Grannis; nine grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Smith will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 9, 2015 in the Baker Rock Church with Ron Ladd officiating. Burial will follow in the Baker cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at the funeral home.
