Rachel Rada-Mae Norman
Rachel Rada-Mae Norman age 19 of Wickes, Arkansas passed away Sunday, February 3, 2019 in Umpire, Arkansas.
Rachel was born on December 22, 1999 in Texarkana, Texas to Tim Norman and Krystel Merworth Norman. Rachel was a student at Rich Mountain School of Cosmetology and also worked at the Chopping Block Restaurant in Mena. She was a very outgoing young lady who enjoyed spending time with friends, singing, shopping and listening to music. Rachel was a cheerleader at Cossatot River High School and was also a talented public speaker, winning awards in FCCLA for her exceptional speaking skills. Rachel was a member of the Wickes Church of Nazarene Teen group helping with Vacation Bible School and other church projects.
Most of all she loved to laugh and make people laugh. She was a loving daughter, granddaughter, sister, aunt and friend to all who knew and loved her. She will be dearly missed.

Vince Norman and wife Jenny of Franklinton, Louisiana; Sister: Ashley Ruthardt and husband Deagan of Magnolia, Arkansas; Niece: Brynley Ruthardt of Magnolia, Arkansas; Niece on the way: McKenna Norman “Fruit of the Womb”; Very special friends: Kim Gonzalez of Wickes, Arkansas and Mya Gillaspy of Wickes, Arkansas; A host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends too numerous to mention.
She was preceded in death by grandparents and great grandparents, Rocky Norman, Alton Norman, Avo Hubbard, Sam Hubbard, Glen Merworth, Hildred Gray, Hawley Merworth, Rada Merworth, John Briggs and Pearlie Mae Briggs, and her aunt Amanda Merworth.
Funeral service will be Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Wickes Elementary Auditorium in Wickes with Pastor B.J. Jenkins and Brother Thomas Jenkins officiating. under the direction of the Beasley Wood Funeral Home of Mena. Interment will follow in the Mineral Cemetery in Gillham, Arkansas.
Visitation will be Friday, February 8, 2019 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Beasley Wood.Pallbearers will be Bryle Fatheree, Clyde Fatheree, Adam Shores, Alex Jenkins, Austin Lyle, Bailey Wise, Ethan Griffin, and Jonathon Rye.
Dixie Lee Seastrunk Tong
Dixie Lee Seastrunk Tong, age 93, a resident of Alleene, Arkansas died Saturday, February 2, 2019, at her home.
She was born May 14, 1925, in Alleene.
Mrs. Tong was preceded in death by her husband, William Leonard Tong.
She is survived by one son Gary Lynn Tong and wife, Nancy; grandsons, William Richard Tong and Paul Dwight Tong and wife, Tara; great grandchildren, Noelle, Te’a and Elijah; sisters, Mildred Kanakis and Verna Roberson of Alleene and Lucy Fields Welch of Wilton; brother, Demp Seastrunk of Garland, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
There will be no service per her request. Cremation arrangements by Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen, Arkansas.
Henry Lee Harrison, Jr.
Henry Lee Harrison, Jr, age 64, a resident of Sherwood, Arkansas died Tuesday, February 5, 2019 in Little Rock, Arkansas.
He was born October 16, 1954 in Commerce, Texas to the late Henry Lee and Mary Cordelia Kent Harrison.
He is survived by his wife, Greta Dodson Harrison of Sherwood; his children, Jason Harrison of Dallas, Texas and Meri Harrison Caldwell and spouse, Nathan Caldwell of Greenbrier, Arkansas; a sister and brother-in-law, Sherry and Cookie Nicholas of Kaufman, Texas; a brother, Ted Bates of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and three grandchildren, Baylee Rae Caldwell, 9, Emmersyn Cate Caldwell, 7, and Asher Lee Harrison, 3.
Memorial services for Mr. Henry Lee Harrison, Jr. will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 9, 2019 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in De Queen.
Mr. Wayne McCarrell
Mr. Elbert Wayne McCarrell, age 84, a resident of De Queen, passed from this life on Saturday, February 2, 2019, in a Texarkana, Texas hospital, surrounded by family.
He was born to J. C. and Veree Clark McCarrell in Stanford, Texas, on April 12, 1934. He began his work in the marine business at the age of 14, alongside his father. Wayne and J.C. operated Mack and Son Marine in Arlington, Texas. Later, Wayne and his wife Norma Jo owned and operated L. J. Marine in De Queen. He served in the Air National Guard and was a member of the First Baptist Church of De Queen. He was a member of the NRA, the Arkansas Cattlemen’s Association, was a 32nd degree Mason, and a member of the Sweet Home Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed flying, fishing and working, but most of all, he cherished the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of almost 65 years, Norma Jo Moore McCarrell of De Queen, one daughter and son-in-law, Cindy Lee Frachiseur and Morgan of De Queen; two grandchildren and their spouses, Alan and Christy Lee of Gillham, and Megan and Ronnie Smith of De Queen; three great-grandchildren, Kix Wayne Lee, R.J. Smith, and Bristol Rae Lee; a sister and brother-in-law, Delouris and Jack Wages of Arlington, Texas; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
Memorial Services for Mr. Wayne McCarrell will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 9, 2019 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

John David Youngblood
John David Youngblood, age 72, a resident of Hatton, Arkansas died Friday, February 1, 2019, in Wickes.
He was born February 17, 1946, to the late John Sevier and Eloise Garner Youngblood in Houston, Texas. John David was a member of the Hatton Baptist Church.
John David was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by two sisters, Charlene Vaughn and her husband, Caroll of Glenwood, Arkansas; Pauline Vaughn and her husband, Huey of Glenwood; and one brother, Don Youngblood and wife Margie of Wickes; four nephews, Chris, Timothy and Jason Vaughn and Jerry Youngblood; two nieces, Sheri Deaton and Jonida Dervishi.
Funeral services for Mr. John David Youngblood will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at the Hatton Baptist Church in Hatton, Arkansas with Micah Deaton officiating. Burial will follow in the Cecil Chapel Cemetery in Vandervoort, Arkansas under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen, Arkansas.

Mary Louise Blackwood
Mary Louise Blackwood, age 88, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas died Thursday, January 31, 2019, in Texarkana, Texas.
She was born May 9, 1930, in Liberty, Texas. She attended Holly Creek Missionary Baptist Church and was a former clerk at Cannon Dry Goods.
Mrs. Blackwood was preceded in death by her parents, H.A. “Shorty” and Nina Kesterson Cannon; two husbands, Gerald Turner and Bruce Blackwood; two brothers, Herman “Josh” Cannon and Billy Cannon; and one sister, Euna Faye Ausum.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Sheila and Ronnie Montgomery of De Queen, Arkansas and Sondra and Jack Spencer of Simms, Texas; a son and daughter-in-law, Kent and Michelle Turner of New Hope, Arkansas; one brother, Wesley Cannon of Fayetteville, Arkansas; eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and a number of nieces, nephews and special friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Blackwood will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 4, 2019, at the Holly Creek Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Clyde Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.
The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 p.m., Sunday the 3rd at the funeral home in Dierks.
Jessie Mae Powell Winfield
Jessie Mae Powell Winfield age 91, of De Queen formerly of Wickes, Arkansas passed away Thursday, January 31, 2019 in De Queen, Arkansas.
Jessie was born on March 21, 1927 in Foss, Oklahoma to the late Arlie Franklin Powell and the late Leola Towery Powell. She married the love her life Harold Othell Winfield on December 24, 1942. During the war she welded on big ships. Jessie worked for Renova Shirt factory for 15 years and then as cashier for Alltel until her retirement. Jessie also worked on various jobs including raising cattle and chickens as well as being a talented seamstress. She was very well known for her exceptional cooking and baking skills. She was a member of the Wickes Nazarene Church where she served as treasurer, board member and taught Sunday School for many years.
In 1994, Mrs. Jessie won second place in Regional Spelling Bee contest for Seniors and went on in 1996 to win third place in the State Senior Spelling Bee.
Above all she loved God and her family and was proud of them. She was a loving and kind mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and friend to all who knew her.
She is survived by: Daughters: Nita Sue Sullivan and husband Byron of De Queen, Arkansas, Janie Alesa Howard of Mena, Arkansas, Sandy Sullivan and husband Billy of De Queen, Arkansas, Jessie Elizabeth “Beth” Adcock and husband Pat of Hot Springs, AR; Grandchildren: Gary Sullivan, Randy Sullivan, Harold Loyd, Lori Brotherton, Cathy Smith, Brent Gentry, Casey Morris, Mandy Smith, April Wurtz, Jared Adcock, Brandy Risner, Lacy Youngblood, Ty Sullivan, John Sullivan, Drew Adcock and Elijah Sullivan; Sister: Mildred Holmes of Maysville, Oklahoma; Brother and sister-in-law: Jay and Bennie Winfield of Jacksonville, Florida; 27 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harold Othell Winfield, her siblings J. C. Powell, Troy Powell, Jerry Powell, Margie Pennington, Pat Walthall, her sisters-in-law Joy Powell, Lonnie Walthall and Eulas Peters.
Funeral service will be Monday, February 4, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Wickes Church of the Nazarene with Reverend David Baker, Reverend B.J. Jenkins and Reverend Leon McCleskey officiating. Interment will follow in the Crystal Hill Cemetery under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.
Family and friends visitation will be Sunday, February 3, 2019 6-8 at Beasley Wood.
Pallbearers will be Ty Sullivan, John Sullivan, Elijah Sullivan, Harold Loyd, Jeff Brotherton, Craig Wurtz, Jack Smith and Larry Pennington. Honorary pallbearers will be Brent Gentry, Jason Risner, Leon Loyd, Gary Winfield and Jared Loyd.
