Mrs. Juanita Staggs
Mrs. Juanita Jeane Staggs, age 87, a resident of Horatio, passed from this life on Saturday, December 1, 2018, in the Hospice of Texarkana, surrounded by family.

She was the third of six children born to I.C. and Thelma Lee Sage Stringfellow on August 16, 1931, in Horatio, Arkansas. Juanita loved the Lord and was a member of the Horatio Assembly of God. She worked in jewelry sales at J.C. Penney for many years and was a homemaker. She married the love of her life, Ralph Aldron Staggs on May 2, 1992, in Horatio. She enjoyed reading and cherished the time spent with their children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Hershel Stringfellow, R.J. Stringfellow and Delton Stringfellow; one sister, Nell Barnes; and one granddaughter, Caitlyn Rebecca Philemon.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of over 26 years, Ralph Staggs of Horatio; two sons, John D. Rogers, III, and his wife Linda of Houston, Texas and Parick Rogers and his wife Paulette of Cypress, Texas; three daughters, Joy Smothers and her husband Donny of Nacogdoches, Texas, Cynthia Rogers Tucker of Horatio, Arkansas and Sherri Philemon and her husband Steve of Charlotte, North Carolina; Ralph’s children, Terry Staggs and his wife Debbie of Andrews, Texas, Latrice Brooks and her husband Doug of Clovis, New Mexico and DeAnna Funderburg and her best friend Lee of Hedley, Texas; one sister, Loretta Reid of Horatio; as well as, twenty-five grandchildren, a number of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephew, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Juanita Staggs will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, December 5, 2018, in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. John Gutierres and Bro. Doug Akin officiating. Burial will follow in the Clear Creek Cemetery under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home of De Queen. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, December 4th, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial be made to The Gideons International, P.O. Box 713, De Queen, Arkansas 71832, or to the First Assembly of God in Horatio.

Mr. Anthony Durso
Mr. Anthony Joseph Durso, age 71, a resident of Eagletown, Oklahoma, died Thursday, November 29, 2018, in De Queen.

He was born on April 20, 1947, in Bellingham, Massachusetts. He worked as a Machinist, was of the Catholic faith and enjoyed building model rockets.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Veronica Durso.

He is survived by one sister in New Hampshire and a friend, Vincent Thomas of Eagletown, Oklahoma.

No services are scheduled at this time. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

Patricia Pauline Plunk Hearn Cole
Patricia Pauline Plunk Hearn Cole age 67, a resident of Horatio Arkansas passed from this life on November 22, 2018 at her home.

She was born to Sherman and Lucy plunk on July 23rd 1951, in Bradley Arkansas. She was employed by the city of Horatio and the Red Water School District but the job she loved most was being a foster grandparent in the Horatio School District. She loved spending time with her family and watching Razorback football. She was a Christian and attended Horatio Baptist Church.

Pat is preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Marla Hearn Smith, a sister Wanda Cole and two beautiful granddaughters, Heather Lacefield and Victoria Grace Walls.

She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters Patricia Ayers and Ashley Cole of Horatio a son Dustin and daughter in law Sarah Cole of Horatio Arkansas, three brothers, Sherman and Karen Plunk of Idabel Oklahoma, Billy and Patty Plunk of Ponca City Oklahoma and Jimmy Plunk of Blackwell Oklahoma. Five Sisters; Shirley and Lloyd Throneburg of Blackwell Oklahoma, Margaret Stocker of Glencoe Oklahoma, Doris and Pete Gates of Blackwell Oklahoma, Ruby Davis of Blackwell Oklahoma, Kay and Jack Higgins of Ponca City Oklahoma. Four grandsons; Josh Lacefield of De Queen Arkansas, Lukas Smith of Red Water Texas, Kody Smith of Maud Texas, and Landen Walls of Horatio, three granddaughters; Jaisee and Justin Bailey, Kylie Ayers and Addie Walls of Horatio Arkansas, four great-grandchildren; Jewel, Jedidiah, Gracie and Grady Bailey all of Horatio Arkansas. She had numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Services for Mrs. Cole were held Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Horatio Baptist Church, Pastor Tim Smallwood officiated.

Joe Vobora
Mr. Joe Edward Vobora, age 85, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Tuesday, November 27, 2018 in the Arkansas Heart Hospital, Little Rock, Arkansas.

He was born to Frank and Louise Bedford Vobora in Lakeview, California, on April 1, 1933. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U S Navy. Joe was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was retired postmaster in Grants Pass, Oregon, and enjoyed woodworking, landscaping, gardening, traveling, horses, and goats. Most of all, he cherished the time spent with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wives, Bernice Vobora, and Mari Alice Vobora, and a stepson, Steven Johnson.

He is survived by a son, Michael Frank Vobora of De Queen, a daughter and son-in-law,

Toni Jo and Ray Wartinger of De Queen, two step-sons, Lonny Owen Coleman and his wife, Cherie of Branch, Michigan, and Glenn Johnson and his wife Pam of Kerrville, Texas, a step-daughter, Jackie Mari Halstead, and her husband, Curtis, of Yamhill, Oregon; one brother, Stanley Frank Vobora and his wife, Karen of Spokane, Washington, four sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara Louise and Charles Van de Wetering of Corvallis, Oregon, Margaret and Ernie Besler of Grants Pass, Oregon, Alice Ann Bromund, of Vacaville, California, and Kathy Vobora of Grants Pass, Oregon, and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, as well as other family members.

Memorial Services for Mr. Joe Vobora will be held at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, December 6, 2018, in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mark Cloninger officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

Lloyd Dee Kesterson

Mr. Lloyd Dee Kesterson, age 95, a resident of Umpire, Arkansas, died Friday November 23, 2018 in Hot Springs, Arkansas.

He was born March 22, 1923 in Umpire. He was a farmer, delivered LP Gas locally for a number of years and was a member of the Community Church in Umpire. He was a World War II Army veteran and fought valiantly in the Battle of the Bulge. He was also a 32-degree Mason, Worthy Grand Patron of Eastern Star for the state of Arkansas in 1982.

Mr. Kesterson was preceded in death by his parents, John and Pearl Kesterson; his wife, Honey Bunch Pinkerton Kesterson and one son, Edsal Kesterson.

He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Chren Kesterson of Hot Springs, Arkansas; one brother, Homer Kesterson of Forks, Washington; five grandchildren, Lloyd Wayne Kesterson, Andrea Kesterson Galt, Haley Kesterson, Nicki Landry and John Clay Howell and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services for Mr. Kesterson will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 29, 2018 in the Community Church in Umpire with Haley Kesterson, Rev. John Henry Williams and Rev. Don Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow in the Bissell Chapel Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 28th at the funeral home in Dierks.

Dovie Lavada McReynolds Pace
Dovie Lavada McReynolds Pace, age 74, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas died Friday, November 23, 2018 at her home.

She was born August 18, 1944 in Frederick, Oklahoma. She was a supervisor for Pilgrims for 23 years retiring in 2015.

Mrs. Pace was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Ruby Burgan McReynolds; one daughter, Lisa Nell Carterby; one sister, Sue Gordley; one brother, Benny McReynolds; one grandson, Derrick Bakenhus and two sons-in-law, Randy Bakenhus and Ron Robinson.

She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Melitta and Dallas Simmons of Newhope, Arkansas, Gaythy Bakenhus of De Queen and Rebalee Eubanks and Mack Jacobs of St. Amant, Louisiana; three sons and daughters-in-law, David Jefferson, Jr. and Diane of Keller, Texas, Lyndon Jefferson and Debbie of Gilmer, Texas and Phillip Jefferson and Brandi of De Queen, two sisters, Frances Fullerton of Marlow, Oklahoma and Loretta Lyons of Lawton, Oklahoma; one brother and sister-in-law, Johnny McReynolds and Johnell of Wichita Falls, Texas; 15 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Pace will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 25, 2018 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tim Johnson and Johnny McReynolds officiating. Burial will follow in the Redmen Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Saturday, November 24th at the funeral home.

Margie Marie Stover
Mrs. Margie Marie Farmer Stover, age 75, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Wednesday, November 21, 2018, in the Bear Creek Healthcare, De Queen.

She was born to William Francis and Effie Katherine Foreman Farmer, in Alamogordo, New Mexico on July 15, 1943. She worked in food service for Holiday Inn in Austin, Texas, and the De Queen Medical Center, as well as a homemaker. She was a member of the First Assembly of God in De Queen. She enjoyed reading westerns, crossword puzzles, cooking, sewing quilts, reading her Bible, but most of all, she cherished the time spent with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ollie Joe Stover; an infant son, Bobby Joe Stover; a grandson, Michael Purtell; a brother, Harold James Farmer; and a sister, Gladys Farmer.

She is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Mickey Don and Annie Neatherlin of Lubbock, Texas, Danny Joe and Tricia Stover of Round Rock, Texas, Jimmy Joe and Angie Stover of Amarillo, Texas, and Roy and Wanda Stover of De Queen; a special friend, Gina Juarez of San Antonio, Texas; a brother, William Farmer of Alamogordo, New Mexico; nineteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services for Mrs. Margie Stover will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, November 24, 2018, in the First Assembly of God Church with Pastor Ray Reynolds officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Fire Bibles through the First Assembly of God Church in De Queen. The family will be at the home of Roy and Wanda Stover, 1673 Highway 329, De Queen, Arkansas.
