Mr. Charles Currington
Charles Dewayne Currington, 85, of DeQueen passed away Wednesday, October 10, 2018. He was born October 7, 1933 to the late C. P. and Willia Currington. In additions to his parents, one sister, Sherry Newton preceded him in death. Charles was Manager of Baldwin and had a Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering and served in the Army.
He is Survivors include his wife, Debra Currington; sister, Elaine Grigsby (Paul), Brother; Danny Currington (Melba), Daughter; Teresa Blakney (Rob), three sons: Lamar Currington (Shannon), Scott Currington and Tony Currington. Grandchildren; Lindsay and Steve Morris, Lee and Bri Blakney, Coy Bell, Caleigh Currington, Hannah Currington, Kelly Currington, Emilee Willison-Cameron Green, Carolyn Green. Step Children; Christina Lee, Rebekah and Billy Green and Shawn Lee.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 13, 2018 in the chapel of Roller-Alcoa Funeral Home with Pastor Ray Reynolds, Bro. Paul Grigsby and Bro. Rob Blakney officiating. Interment will follow in Rock Port Cemetery in Malvern.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Roller-Alcoa funeral home before the Funeral Service.
Ms. Maria Zarate
Maria Guadalupe Zarate Arellano, age 69, a resident of Grannis, Arkansas, died Tuesday, October 9, 2018 from injuries received in an automobile accident in Polk County, Arkansas, near Iron Mountain.
She was born on February 17, 1949 in Juventino Rosas Guanajuato, Mexico, to Cayetano Arellano and Catalina Zarate. She was a member of the Asamblea Apostolica de la fe en Cristo Jesus in De Queen. She was retired from Tyson Foods with 17 years service, as well as a homemaker. She enjoyed plants, pets, Christian music, yard sales, reading her Bible, singing in Church, and she cherished the time spent with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Samuel Zarate, a grandson, Jose Luis, a brother, Alfredo Zarate, and a sister, Antonina Zarate.
She is survived by six daughters and sons-in-law, Juana Meza and her husband, Elias of Grannis, Rosalia Evans and her husband, Robert of Wickes, Virginia McCarley and her husband, Roger of Gillham, Leticia Bennett and her husband, Robert of Grannis, Cristina Estrada and her husband, Pedro of Nashville, and Faviola Zarate and Jose Delgado of Grannis, three sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel Rodriquez and his wife, Mayra of Little Rock, Juan Carlos Zarate and his wife, Kerrie also of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Victor Zarate and Jhanel Wilson of Grannis, a brother, a sister, 28 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Ms. Maria Zarate will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, October 13th in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jose Chacon officiating. Burial will follow in the Grannis Cemetery, Grannis, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. Visitation will be Friday, October 12th from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Danny Joe Litchford
Mr. Danny Joe Litchford, age 58, a resident of Horatio, Arkansas died Tuesday, October 9, 2018, at his home.
He was born January 20, 1960, in Altus, Oklahoma. He worked for Domtar for 33 years.
Mr. Litchford was preceded in death by his father, James Litchford and one nephew, Michael Mooneyhan.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Brenda Manasco Litchford; his mother, Wanda Lane Litchford of Mineral Springs, Arkansas; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jonathan and Jessica Glasgow of Lockesburg, Arkansas and Allen Glasgow of Springdale, Arkansas; one daughter and son-in-law, Stacy and Wes Dowdy of Nashville, Arkansas; one sister and brother-in-law, Pat and David Wester of Mineral Springs; six grandchildren, Lexi Simmons, Cadee Glasgow, Matthew Glasgow, Jacob Glasgow, Katie Barnes, and Laken Barnes; and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Litchford will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 12, 2018, at the Old Center Church in Horatio with Don Vaughn and Scott Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow in Old Center Cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, October the 11th at the funeral home.
Mr. T.J. Davis
He was born to James Lee and Carol Lynne King Davis on May 6, 1985, in Hope, Arkansas. He loved the Lord and was a member of the Lockesburg Church of Christ. He was baptized into the church on December 24, 2001. T.J. was a man of many skills and could do just about anything. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, listening to music, bow-hunting and carpentry work, but most of all, he cherished the time spent with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Lee Davis, and his grandparents, Dorothy Harrison, Ima Jeanne Smith and J.D. Davis.
He leaves to cherish his memory, four sons, Noah, Gabriel, Jedidiah, and Malachi Davis, all of Lockesburg; his mother, Lynne Davis of Lockesburg; three brothers, Jonathon Lee Davis of Lockesburg, Jaymes Quentin and his wife Shena Davis of Lockesburg, and Sgt. Stephen Louis Davis of Fort Bliss, Texas; two sisters, Regina Grubbs and her husband Craig, and Cassie Schroer and her husband Mark, all of Lockesburg; maternal grandparents, Paul and Frances King of Lockesburg; as well as, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services for Mr. T.J. Davis will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, October 7, 2018, in the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Lockesburg, with Joe May, Minister, officiating. Burial will follow in the Odd Fellows Cemetery under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Saturday, October 6th, at the funeral home.
Mr. Tommy Phelps
Mr. Thomas Charles “Tommy” Phelps, age 72, a resident of Idabel, Oklahoma and former resident of Lockesburg, died Tuesday, October 2, 2018, in a Paris, Texas hospital.
He was born to Joseph Franklin and Francis Wood Phelps on January 19, 1946, in Arkoma, Oklahoma. He worked in maintenance for the D&E TO&E Railroad for over 20 years. He attended church at the Old Center Holiness Church and enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Sarah Phelps in April of 1974; and a brother, Lonnie Phelps in 2012.
He is survived by two sisters, Lucille Dirickson of Horatio, Arkansas, and Louise Stinnett of Texarkana, Arkansas; as well as, a number of nieces, nephews, other relative and friends.
Graveside services for Mr. Tommy Phelps will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, October 6, 2018, in the Old Center Cemetery with Bro. Sam Hendricks officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 5th, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., at the funeral home.
Rachel Delois Bell McRae
Mrs. Rachel Delois Bell McRae, age 80, was born to Willie A. Bell and Pearl Mae Haney on February 17, 1938, in King, Arkansas. They rang the Golden bell for her on Sunday, September 30, 2018.
She was a member of the Church of Christ and she dearly loved her family and her people.
Mrs. McRae was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jim McRae; two sisters, Cora Plunk and Magel Winer; three brothers, Floyd, Melvin, and J.D. Bell; and one great grandchild, Alfredo Martinez.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Cynthia and Paul Davignon of Provo, Arkansas, Jody and Tammy McRae of De Queen, Arkansas, and Salina and Rogelio Rodriquez also of De Queen; six grandchildren and their spouses, Greg and Amberly Davignon, Quinci Davignon, Danielle and Alfredo Martinez, Ariel and Bryan Stevens, Christian Rodriquez, and Miriam Rodriquez; eight great-grandchildren, Trevor, Lexi, and Ty Davignon, Sauyer Davignon, Sadie, Aubrie, and Macie Martinez, and Gatlin Salizar; 37 nieces and nephews and their families; one special niece, Wanda Staggs Cole; and hundreds of friends.
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. McRae will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 3, 2018, at Chapel Hill Cemetery with Toney Stowers officiating under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 2nd at the funeral home.
Opal D. Hobbs
Mrs. Opal D. Osborn Hobbs, age 95, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas, died Saturday, September 29, 2018 in Dierks.
She was born September 6, 1923 in Vandervoort, Arkansas, to Quinn and Ella Ray Osborn. She was a Beautician and a member of the First Baptist Church in Dierks. Mrs. Hobbs loved her church and good singing, she enjoyed gardening, her family, friends, and most of all her grandchildren. She was a wonderful mother and a loving wife and always good for a home cooked meal. She will be greatly missed by all of her loving family and friends.
Mrs. Hobbs was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, I.E. “Buddy” Hobbs; one grandson, Drew Walston; one brother, Billie Joe Osborn and one sister Jewel Deal.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Jane and Jr. Nichols of Hot Springs, Arkansas and Judy and Phil Walston of Dierks; one son Butch Hobbs of Dierks; 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews, as well as extended family and friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hobbs will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Dierks with Bro. Craig Chambers and Dr. David Blasé officiating. Burial will follow in the Dierks Cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service on Wednesday at the church.
Viewing will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 2nd at the funeral home in Dierks.
